Into months 7 and 8 of our pregnancies now.. this will most likely be our last 'pregnant' thread before we all have our babies!!

How did we get here? Feels like just yesterday we were waving hello from the TTC boards.

If anyone new would like to join please do, we also have a very busy (private) Facebook group for everyone due in August 2018.

@BertieBotts I think the pain she was talking about was directly after labour. The contractions seemed to continue. It wasn't related to breastfeeding. I know I didn't have any contraction like pain after my first, even when I breastfed. So it was a surprise to hear her say that. No one had told me to expect any pain after birth. She said they eased off quickly and were gone in a few hours.

@Gem173 the midwife says that my baby is head down. But I don't think she's engaged yet. From what I've read It can happen at any time around now and if it doesn't then the contractions push the baby down anyway. I don't think it makes labour any easier or harder or quicker etc, nothing to worry about Smile

I have officially finished work!!! It was a lovely last day and I was spoiled rotten! Can't believe it, the last month has flown by. Only one more to go!!

Peregrane · 25/07/2018 18:12

@Gem173 My baby has been engaged for weeks, and it has helped in opening and softening my cervix, but no birth yet.

I am so impressed with your work on that nursery room. It looks very calm. And cool...

The forecast here is now 37 degrees tomorrow! I am losing my mind.

Was feeling really unwell, dizzy and nauseous last night, but DH (and copious amounts of cold water) slowly helped me over it. Today was totally calm. Come on baby!

@Emmasmum, I didn’t experience pain like that the first time around either. It doesn’t sound fun!

Great that you have finished work, and had such a lovely send-off!

peterpanwendy · 25/07/2018 18:38

@Gem173 just got back from my appt and my baby is 1/5 engaged but last time she wasn't at all and midwife said it can happen at any time up to due date :) x

Thanks ladies, guess it’s something that’s not that important :) just hope birth goes smoothly :/
@Peregrane thankyou the room is lush, once everything’s in and some decorations up I think it will be perfect. I hope you feel better now! And are coping with this heat!

Emmasmum2013 · 26/07/2018 11:45

@CaffeineDragon
Hope everything is going well with your induction!

CaffeineDragon · 27/07/2018 10:56

Hi all,

It's was a bit crazy, will save details for after all babies are born! We're both well, she was born yesterday at 5:32pm, 6lbs 6oz. Totally in love and can't wait for her brother to meet her!

Thanks for all your support! x

Massive congrats @CaffeineDragon , she's a beauty! Do you have a name yet? Take your time recovering, and enjoy! x

somersetsinger · 27/07/2018 12:46

Congratulations Caffeine! She looks so squishy and cute all snuggled up on you. Glad to hear you're getting the rush of love - so amazing.

birdy1978 · 27/07/2018 13:17

Huge congratulations CaffeineDragon! She’s beautiful. Hope you’re recovering OK and the new big brother enjoys his little sister!

TheMildManneredMilitant · 27/07/2018 14:38

She's gorgeous CaffeineDragon big congratulations

BertieBotts · 27/07/2018 14:40

Aww congrats :)

Gem, my doctor said my baby isn't engaged and she said because of this if my waters break I'm to lie down immediately and call an ambulance, don't try to get to hospital myself. And only get up for the amount of time it takes to open the door.

Surprised me as I don't remember hearing that ever before! But it's apparently due to the (very) rare risk of cord prolapse. So rare she's never had it happen to any of her patients. I'm not concerned about it, but I thought I'd pass it on.

Gem173 · 27/07/2018 14:40

She’s so adorable @Caffeinedragon! So huggable! Congratulations xx

Emmasmum2013 · 27/07/2018 17:27

Congratulations @caffine
I haven't been as active on here, going through such a worrying time as I'm having reduced movement but the hospital don't really care.
For those that are having growth scans can I be nosey and ask what weight your babies are currently at? I know it varies from person to person but I'm so worried that baby isn't putting on weight

MamOfFrankie · 28/07/2018 17:45

At 36+1 they estimated my LO as 5lb11. They are notoriously inaccurate though. My previous DD was only 6lb8 born but she was healthy and happy and put on 1lb3oz in the first two weeks :)

GKite · 28/07/2018 18:12

At 37&2 baby was 5lb 6oz. My other two were 10lb and 9lb 8oz so quite concerned

Gizzymum · 28/07/2018 19:58

@GKite Mine is estimated at 5lb 11 at 36+6 and is on the 10th centile. My DS1 was born at 38+5 at 6lb 3 which was also the 10th centile.

I've been having growth scans as this one is measuring just on or below the 10th centile. The consultant said I was having growth scans because below the 10th centile was considered "small" and this was guidelines (I assumed national NHS ones). If you are measuring below the 10th perhaps see what the NICE guidelines say and then quote those back at your midwife etc?

If you're having reduced movement just keep going in for monitoring until they take you seriously. You can always ask to be induced if you are concerned growth has slowed down (my sister did that with her 4th child).

🤞🏻 all is okay.

Gem173 · 28/07/2018 20:07

Hey guys,
@Bertiebotts I haven’t heard of that before! Will ask my midwife at the next appointment if I remember.
Even tho I’ve had two growth scans, I haven’t been told the estimated weight of my baby at either of them. I still don’t know what he’s estimated to be at now, so hopefully he will be a nice 6-7lb. But I guess he could end up huge!
Am not going for any more growth scans so can’t really ask about weight.

Gem173 · 28/07/2018 20:14

Done some more to the baby’s room today. Now just got to add some decorations :)

That's lovely @gem173 I wish I was that organised!

Gizzymum · 28/07/2018 20:32

@Gem173 The estimated weight should be on the growth chart in grams (look for EFW).

BertieBotts · 28/07/2018 20:48

My appointment on Thu when I was 35+4 I was told he's 2700g - but then 2 weeks before he was more like 2800 Confused so I said that's just because the machine isn't very accurate, right? And she said yes - he won't have shrunk.

2700 at 36ish weeks is about 50th centile which is about 3600g/8lb at birth - whereas 2800 at 34 weeks is more like 90th centile, which is over 4kg at birth which is more like 9 and a half!

Gem173 · 29/07/2018 10:54

@Gizzymum
I’ve looked at my growth scan and can’t find an EFW 🤔

Gem173 · 29/07/2018 10:57

At the moment my bump is measuring just above the 10th centile. What does this mean? And is my FL on my growth scan mean my baby’s slightly small as he is not exactly on the middle line?
It’s all so confusing!
