Into months 7 and 8 of our pregnancies now.. this will most likely be our last 'pregnant' thread before we all have our babies!!

How did we get here? Feels like just yesterday we were waving hello from the TTC boards.

If anyone new would like to join please do, we also have a very busy (private) Facebook group for everyone due in August 2018.

@BertieBotts glad to hear you're feeling better. I hate blaming hormones on things but sometimes it just is and we need to get it out of our system! It doesn't sound like the parents at that school are very nice, so you're def better off without them.

@Emmasmum2013 @MamOfFrankie hang in there! The extra few weeks for baby inside are worth it (for them!) I don't know how you guys down south are managing in the heat, I really feel for you. Hope you get some respite soon and if you can try to find some time and somewhere cool to just relax. Can you go a film maybe? I think the cinema has air con!

@StrawberryLemonade let us know how the snip goes. I have absolutely no idea how I'll manage a toddler & new born, so the fact you are all fed & alive gives me hope! Is your toddler in nursery at all?

I'm 38wks tomorrow and being induced bc of my liver ALT numbers continuing to rise. My head is a bit all over the place but I'm just going to take it as it comes (or try to at least!) and hopefully there will be as little intervention as possible. 🤞🏼

Emmasmum2013 · 24/07/2018 10:33

@CaffeineDragon You're being induced tomorrow?!

CaffeineDragon · 24/07/2018 11:09

@Emmasmum2013 Yup 😳 They did a sweep yesterday and scheduled me in for 2pm. If the sweep hasn't kicked in (I'm having painful BH and a show, but that's all) then they'll break my waters first and see if I can go into labour as naturally as possible. They'll give 4hrs for that to work then move onto a pessary etc. I'm 38wks tomorrow and because they aren't sure why my liver ALT number is so high and keeps climbing, they feel it's the safest option.

Emmasmum2013 · 24/07/2018 11:21

Wow!! Best of luck, I hope it all goes as quickly as possible and you don't need too much intervention!

Can't wait to see some more baby pics!! :)

CaffeineDragon · 24/07/2018 13:08

@Emmasmum2013 Thank you!

TheMildManneredMilitant · 24/07/2018 13:33

Wow good luck CaffeineDragon really not long now then. Hope it's as easy as possible.

38 +3 here and getting emotional too. Mainly just thinking about how our lives are going to change with a 7yr gap and how it will affect the other two. Keep getting random pains every so often but nothing to really think this is it.

StrawberryLemonade sorry feeding is so crap. I had problems with my other two and it's such a rollercoaster. Fingers crossed that the tt snip helps.

Emmasmum2013 · 24/07/2018 14:30

Is anyone else constantly thirsty?
Last night I took a pint of water to bed with me and it was gone by morning. I filled it up again and drank that when I got up.
I've had a large coffee and another 500ml bottle of juice this morning when I got to work. And I got 1L bottle of water at lunch and that's nearly gone too. Oh and a glass of apple juice.

But then I don't know where it is all going!! I never seem to go to the toilet in proportion to what I have drank..

Gem173 · 24/07/2018 15:49

Goodluck @CaffeineDragon! Hope all goes well can’t wait to hear the baby’s name!

And yes it’s extremely hot down south! I’m at bristol and it’s boiling yesterday I literally felt like I had jumped in a pool the amount of sweat was dripping down my body :(

I havent had the urge to drink loads but I have drunk more than usual probably because it’s really hot.
I really hope this heatwave ends before the end of August :( xx

CaffeineDragon · 24/07/2018 16:05

@Emmasmum2013 I've been super thirsty this pregnancy but still not up as much in the night as I'd expect!

Your body obviously needs it!

@TheMildManneredMilitant thank you. I have been in & out of tears the past couple weeks on what stress I'm going to cause to our son. Feel excited what's coming for him and the drop to being terrified I'm ruining his life and he's not going to understand why.

@Gem173 if DH and I can EVER agree on one!!! Have given him the middle name to come from his family but he's not even being proactive with that. We took a week to name our son so I'd imagine we'll do the same again.

I'm not looking forward to giving birth in 27° heat with no air con - can't even think about hotter. But spray fans now ladies!

somersetsinger · 24/07/2018 16:07

Good luck, Caffeine! Sounds like the sweep has started things already.

Gem, you are quite near me. Have you looked at the weather for Thursday? The numbers are going up and I'm going to have to find somewhere with air conditioning.

Emmasmum, I've constantly got a water on the go. Very cold water seems to smooth the thirst, so I've got containers chilling in the fridge and am constantly making ice cubes.

Has anyone got advice for how to help a toddler age older sibling? We've talked with her about the baby quite a lot and I think she will be fine once the baby is here, but she has become extremely clingy (to me only). I think she's worried about being left for the birth and I can't give her a definite 'it will happen at x time and so and so will look after you'. Just want to soothe her poor ruffled emotions and stop the meltdowns.

Emmasmum2013 · 24/07/2018 16:17

Aww thanks everyone. Good to know I'm not the only one! haha.

@somersetsinger it always helps my DD to make a practice game out of things.. so maybe you can try and play "mummy's having the baby" and give her a few tasks, like its her job to get you your notes to take to the hospital or maybe go through packing her own over night bag that she needs to grab when the time comes? And then continue the game where she gets into bed and pretends to go to sleep, you go into another room and then when she 'wakes up', you emerge with a doll or something and give big cheers and cuddles? Just so she knows what the routine will be? Hopefully that might help her to process what's going on.

There's also some good books and episodes of TV programs that can help.. if she's not too old for Peppa Pig there's a good one where Mrs Rabbit has a baby.

Really hope the weather breaks for you guys soon. Its quite nice up north at the moment but I think its going to get hotter next week.

peterpanwendy · 24/07/2018 18:13

I have officially finished work!!!!! Feel so relieved I am so tired 😅

Gem173 · 24/07/2018 18:33

@somersetsinger
I refuse to look at Thursdays temp!!! How will I cope :( I’ve told work that I’m quitting the wards and am only going where air con is and they have agreed thank goodness. 30 degrees + is absolutely ridiculous for a pregnant woman.

@CaffeineDragon I’m sure it will just come to you :)

@Peterpanwendy
Lucky!!!! Lucky lucky! Your oh so lucky lol
2 weeks 3 days and counting for me 😢

Emmasmum2013 · 24/07/2018 19:06

Yay @peterpanwendy!!
It's my last day tomorrow as well. I can't wait!! There's a buffet planned for lunch and then I'm hoping they'll let me go early 😂

CaffeineDragon · 24/07/2018 19:12

@peterpanwendy Congrats!

MamOfFrankie · 24/07/2018 20:09

@peterpanwendy it's an amazing feeling isn't it? I have sent my first 4 days of maternity leave napping - not sure about could have lasted any longer.

I'm 37 weeks today and it is dragging. I though the first trimester was long, but it is nothing compared to this. So can't wait for baby squishing

somersetsinger · 24/07/2018 20:34

Thanks for the suggestions, Emmasmum. DD loves Peppa Pig and we used it to help her prepare for flying and being on holiday. I will definitely do the role playing, too.

Peregrane · 24/07/2018 21:29

I’ve come back to check if there have been any births yet - yay for the babies who have already arrived!

39 weeks now and I had a membrane sweep today. Think I saw the mucus plug a few hours after. Feeling all weird - like the start of a period plus very weak. But definitely not in labour yet.

In other news, it will be 35 degrees here later in the week 😭

peterpanwendy · 25/07/2018 04:01

@Gem173 you're so good painting the babies nursery, I have literally no energy at all! I also have a midwife appt this week at 35 weeks, I wouldn't worry as long as they're regular :)

@CaffeineDragon good luck with your induction, I hope it goes quickly and smoothly for you! X

@Emmasmum2013 enjoy your last day! It's such a surreal feeling!

@MamOfFrankie I have Thursday set aside for napping, tomorrow though I have a midwife appt, my risk assessment at the birthing centre and a day of gathering my last bits for my hospital bag. Because traipsing around town in 30c with elephant feet is such a good idea! 😅

@Peregrane Sounds like things are heading in the right direction! So exciting for you, good luck! :)

I am wide awake, got the fan pointing on me but I am just so hot it's unbearable. I'm in Kent and it's about 20c right now in the middle of the night. Has reached 33 in the day here already this week and Thursday/Friday are set to be similar, I can't cope! I'm also relying on cold bottles of water from the fridge and constantly refilling the ice tray.

@Emmasmum have a lush last day today!

Just had midwife appt and finally been measured to 2cm behind which is acceptable. So no need for another growth scan. Belly’s measuring 33cm at 35 weeks.
Midwife tried to feel where baby was, says he hasn’t engaged yet and is ROL, so on his left side with his back facing my right hand side.
Have looked this up and found that ideally I need him to shift so his back is against my belly. So need to try sleep more on my left, not slouch, and lean forward when sitting or standing.
Which i hate because when I sit and eat and I try to sit up I just have the baby kicking my right up in the ribs and then I get heartburn 😂
Anyway baby’s room has been finished. Just got to add furniture and decorations xx

@Gem173 I love the baby's room! Gorgeous decorating!
Also, have a look at the spinning babies website for some exercises and postures you can do to encourage him to get head down. Its a bit of a confusing website but you can definitely get something out of it.

I was just talking to a friend in work and she gave me some advice for those having second babies... apparently with your second and subsequent births, you will continue to have contractions after the birth and placenta is out!! She said hers were so strong that she had to go back on the gas and air until they'd passed. This doesn't happen with your first baby. its only subsequent ones when the muscles of your uterus are not as strong and it keeps contracting after birth to try and get it to shrink back down into your pelvis!!

This was the first I'd heard so I'm glad she's told me!!

BertieBotts · 25/07/2018 13:40

Um, no, sorry, that happens with first babies too. Just to warn you :) It tends to happen especially when you breastfeed but it's only for the first few days. It can take you a bit by surprise. Apparently it is worse with the second and subsequent though. And perhaps it's a bit more immediate, maybe that's what she meant?

birdy1978 · 25/07/2018 14:26

I had horrid after pains with this baby, I don’t remember any with my first! Definitely worse during breastfeeding and worth asking for paracetamol for. They only last a day or two though.

Gem173 · 25/07/2018 14:37

Anyone’s baby engaged yet? Midwife appointment today says my baby hasn’t engaged, that he’s ‘free’. I know this isn’t really a problem as they can engage during labour. Just wondering if being engaged from say 35+ makes the birth easier or if it makes no difference at all xx
