Hello all! I got my BFP this morning at 10dpo and am apparently due 1st March with my third baby. Now feeling that familiar paranoia about what might go wrong, but hopeful all will be well. Is anyone else due in March yet? 😬

Ladies : when shall I have my early scan ? I am 6 weeks today and was thinking of waiting until 6+5 (Monday) to hear a heartbeat. What do you think ?

hamandpease · 04/07/2018 17:34

@frenchgal I'm waiting until 8w

Only because of the statistical differences between 6w vs 8w and that sits better with my anxious brain!

mostimproved · 04/07/2018 17:37

@frenchgal where are you thinking of having your early scan done? I can't decide whether to have one or not and where to go!

frenchgal · 04/07/2018 17:41

@mostimproved I was going to go private - on Harley street. This place has good reviews : 4dbabyscanslondon.com/

Sarahandduckarehigh · 04/07/2018 17:42

Thanks everyone for the reassuring messages. Knicker watch has drawn a blank so far so I'm starting to calm down.

@frenchgal, I'm doing a reassurance scan at 8 weeks. I haven't looked up the numbers again this time, but last time I researched and if you see a heartbeat then it's highly unlikely (though still possible, sadly) that something can go wrong.

I think at 6 weeks it's still quite marginal whether you will hear a heartbeat? I wouldn't want to spend £60 and get no reassurance.

Hello to the new people. It's lovely to have a good group of us - though I am looking forward to switching to a Facebook group after 12 weeks as I am much better at following the conversation once I have names and faces to remember!!

mostimproved · 04/07/2018 17:55

@frenchgal looks good, I think I will book one for 8 weeks too as otherwise I would end up booking another if I had one too early!

WildFlower2018 · 04/07/2018 18:01

I'm thinking about an early scan at 8w too. Though my DH thinks we should just wait until 12w for the "free one". Though when I explained my reasons for wanting to go early and pay, he was happy to support the idea. So it's my decision. I'm still unsure.

The place that does it is about 5 minutes from my house, which is convenient!

I believe it's £89 though. I wonder if I can find another company for £60, the price mentioned upthread?

Simplyenchanted · 04/07/2018 18:07

Feeling really emotional today, had to hide away earlier for a little cry. No idea what set me off other than my crap timetable for next year. Am concerned that lots of behavioural classes will stress me out later on if all goes well!

I feel rather at a loss what to do now, just wait but I’d love to book a scan or something to look forward to. I have no idea where to start!
Wishing everyone a happy Wednesday 😄

Murphyrocks · 04/07/2018 18:13

@WildFlower2018 I'm paying £89 for the highest reviewed place, figured it wasn't the kind of things to skimp on! Getting mine done at 8 weeks too.

Sorry to hear about being emotional @Simplyenchanted, take care of yourself.

WildFlower2018 · 04/07/2018 18:29

@Simplyenchanted awww virtual hugs!!!! I've been a right moody bitch today 🤣 quite like when I have PMT. must be the hormones! 🤔

Hermagsjesty · 04/07/2018 18:31

@simplyenchanted I was literally just coming on to say how weepy and emotional I feel today - so it’s a bit of a relief that I’m not the only one. I went to pick DS up from nursery and one of the workers started reminiscing about how little he was when he started there and how she can’t believe he’s starting school in September and it really set me off!!

Simplyenchanted · 04/07/2018 18:33

Thanks @wildflower2018 and @murphyrocks.

Could have quite happily bopped a few particularly irritating children today! It’s the front you put on that gets tiring.

RachaelT · 04/07/2018 18:36

First day back at work today after 2 weeks off (and first day at work after BFP), meeting with some of the head office team and 2 are pregnant & due early Dec... struggled to not give my news away whilst discussing the whole 'dietary things to avoid' thing as I was scared it'd be obvious that I knew too much!

Don't know whether it's bean or just being back after time off but I'm cream-crackered... hoping hubby can make his own salad tonight as I'm not moving from the sofa and don't fancy eating anything myself.

Simplyenchanted · 04/07/2018 18:40

@hermagsjesty
Aw that’s so cute!! Starting school, bless, is he excited?

I’m at home, he’s working away the rest of this week so I’m trying to find out about scans etc when I should be doing some work....ahem....

WildFlower2018 · 04/07/2018 18:48

@Murphyrocks I've just realised the one I wish to book is inside mothercare on a retail park near me, and they seem to have loads of good reviews nationwide on trust pilot so that makes me feel reassured that they're legit. They also said they have NHS provider status, again this reassured me.

I think I'll book. On Friday I'll be 5w, so it'd only be 3 weeks to wait! I'm sure I can do that 🙃

Murphyrocks · 04/07/2018 18:52

@WildFlower2018 is that the mothercare at Crown Point? I get DS's hair cut at the kids hairdresser there! They're awesome for toddler cutting, they sit in the little toy cars and watch cartoons, hassle free! I'm going to Window to the Womb in Farsley for my scan.

WildFlower2018 · 04/07/2018 18:58

@Murphyrocks it's at Clifton Moor Retail Park in York. I used to live in Pudsey though, so if we still lived there, I'd probably go to Farsley too! Grin

Toy car seats and cartoons while you get your hair cut? Somebody needs to make this for adults ASAP!!! Xx

thefirsttimer · 04/07/2018 19:01

This thread is moving so quickly, I'm struggling to keep up! So nice that we're all sharing these first few weeks together!

@Sarahandduckarehigh as everyone else has said your little bean is well protected in there! Hope you're feeling ok xxx

Hi @sejohn welcome and congrats! Fx for a nice sticky bean for you 🤞🏼.

@SuperSharpShooter82 Love Island is my guilty pleasure! I've even somehow got DH into it this year!

@frankiefumbles well done on your bike ride! Are you still over in France? Is the weather just as hot there?!

@frenchgal I'm waiting until 8 weeks (well, a day before!) for my early scan, also because of the stats that @hamandpease mentioned

I had my booking in appointment this morning! It went really well the midwife was lovely and gave me lots of reassurance about things I was worried about, which was great. Just got to wait to receive my 12 week scan appointment in the post now!

Murphyrocks · 04/07/2018 19:02

@WildFlower2018 it's awesome, he doesn't even really notice its being cut! Ok sounds good, hope they'll be good for you. I can't wait, 3 weeks today!

hamandpease · 04/07/2018 19:39

@thefirsttimer I don't suppose the midwife indicated if you had any input into when the 12 w scan would be did they?

I've got a big family thing the weekend I'm going to be 13+1 & 13+2 so would really really like my 12w scan on the exact day so I can tell people a little in advance...

I suppose according to LMP I'd be 14w that weekend so maybe its better they schedule it a little 'late' using that date.

I may be overthinking this!! Grin I want to pick the date!

Wineandchoccy · 04/07/2018 19:45

hamandpease last time I had a booking in appointment the midwife rang the hospital when I was in the room so I found out the date & time then but I know some areas you just get a letter in the post.

thefirsttimer · 04/07/2018 19:46

@hamandpease she didn't I'm afraid! She did say if at my early reassurance scan they change my dates massively then I should phone up to rearrange the 12 week scan accordingly though - so in this regard I'm assuming there's going to be a phone number to call to change/cancel the scan if necessary. Hopefully you might be able to phone and ask if yours isn't soon enough! You could always tell a little white lie and say you're away Wink

hamandpease · 04/07/2018 19:59

Thanks @Wineandchoccy & @thefirsttimer

Btw I may have missed this bit but why / how do we get a fb group when we're 12 weeks?

Wineandchoccy · 04/07/2018 20:02

I think most mn antenatal groups set up a secret fb group as it’s easier to chat, arrange meet ups and share photos.

Wineandchoccy · 04/07/2018 20:02

I am still on our group from 2015 and it’s lovely seeing all the babies growing up and meeting people from all over the country
