Hello all! I got my BFP this morning at 10dpo and am apparently due 1st March with my third baby. Now feeling that familiar paranoia about what might go wrong, but hopeful all will be well. Is anyone else due in March yet? 😬

@RachaelT it seems to vary from area to area, but I just researched hospitals first, chose the hospital and then I could self refer online and they sent me an appointment through the post. In my last pregnancy, I told the GP in my first appointment and she asked about hospital choices etc and then did a referral to the one I chose. Not sure if the referral will happen automatically if you don't know where you'll be delivering, as I think midwives are attached to a certain hospital? Maybe call your GP surgery and ask just to make sure as you don't want to be left waiting.

@thefirsttimer I think people at work must think I've been out drinking every night as I've been craving bacon sandwiches in the morning, and have also been having to have a can of coke with aspirin to cure my migraines as I can't take anything stronger!

RedRobin7 · 03/07/2018 15:08

@RachaelT Each area is different but I wouldn't assume just in case you don't hear from anyone. Maybe phone your surgery to ask the receptionist what happens next. My dr gave me a form to give the receptionist who then sent my details to the community midwife team! She then told me to phone them to book my appointment now that I was on their records.

HidCat · 03/07/2018 16:17

We self refer here as we have a midwife led unit in town. They do the prenatal care and then referrals to the hospital of your choice if you need to. Booking in is always around 8weeks. Think I might call next week once I'm sure that AF is not going to turn up just to spite me!

RedRobin7 · 03/07/2018 16:52

Ladies should I tell my gym that I'm pregnant just in case? Or will they not care?

ladycarlotta · 03/07/2018 16:57

@supersharpshooter82 I know, there are people whose support I'd definitely need if I miscarried, and I don't mind the in-laws knowing. They are really pleased! I don't want to tell my mum before 12 weeks though, we have a good relationship but I think I'd feel I'd 'promised' her a grandbaby, and if one didn't turn up I'd have let her down. I know it wouldn't be my fault, but knowing how excited she'd be, I want to make sure I won't disappoint her. Maybe I couldn't handle her emotional response on top of my own, if that makes sense? It would be her first but my in-laws' fifth, so maybe that makes a difference.

@hermagsjesty going off yogurt was one of my first 'signs'! I usually have it for breakfast but I suddenly just didn't want it at all. Dairy seems to have been a big aversion for me - it's tasted 'off' since about 8dpo.

Bozley47 · 03/07/2018 17:07

How's everyone's cravings? I am munching on cheese savoury sandwiches, an occasional sneaky kebab and anything salty I can get my hands on. Same cravings as I got with my daughter! Hubby would like another girl but I'm not reading too much into it! Have booking in tomorrow... exciting!

Emmafh3 · 03/07/2018 17:10

@redrobin if you have a personal trainer, for sure. If you go and you're doing your own thing I wouldn't bother telling them.
But if you want to and they can maybe ensure that if you did anything silly like faint they would know about babe? Up to you

@cobaltrose I think you would be surprised at how much understanding your mum might have if anything was to happen to bean if you told her. Have you discussed mc with her before?
It always comes out of the wood work how many people you didn't think have had one has.
You can always make up your mind at your scan in a few weeks 😊🤞

Emmafh3 · 03/07/2018 17:11

@ladycarlotta not cobalt. Silly me

TheWanderlust · 03/07/2018 17:13

@RedRobin7 I have spoken to someone at my gym just for advice more than anything. She's been really understanding and mentioned about benefits of Pilates.

@Bozley47 I'm with you on cravings. Savoury snacks - chips/ crisps etc are all my weapon of choice at the moment. Hoping they won't continue as it's bitter sweet ... snacking makes me feel sick. Craving makes me want snacks!!

thefirsttimer · 03/07/2018 17:20

@mostimproved I hope your migraine has gone! I used to get them regularly when I was a teen so I feel your pain. Touch wood I haven't had one now for about 6 years.

@Bozley47 we're booking in appointment twins! Will you let us know how you get on? Mine's tomorrow morning.

puravida31 · 03/07/2018 17:39

Wowzers I need to do some catching up on this thread! Welcome & congratulations to the new marchers! Not much new to update from me but I’ve become the queen of napping, napping every day, anywhere, anytime really (other than at work sadly) Just woken up from one now! Hope everyone else is well

WildFlower2018 · 03/07/2018 19:00

I think I've had my first load of cravings!

Noticed last night that my taste had slightly dulled. Still very dull today.

This morning, I drank some fresh lemonade and ever since I've had this weird taste in my mouth. This evening, my DH put loads of vinegar on his dinner and the smell made my mouth water. I then decided to douse my pasta with balsamic vinegar and it was lovely! Now I'm sat here with my mouth salivating at the thought of licking a raw lemon, eating super sour sweets or eating sweet and sour Chinese food with particularly sour pineapples!!!

This is my first pregnancy so it's a bit novel 🤭 hehe

WildFlower2018 · 03/07/2018 19:01

@puravida31 I'm also part of the nap club. It the danger is I'm self employed! I got a good 2 hours this afternoon (which after a few crap nights was a godsend)

frankiefumbles · 03/07/2018 19:06

@ladycarlotta only my 2p but that was exactly how I felt with my mum. In the end last time I told her literally three days before I started bleeding. I explained to her exactly as you did, why I didn't want to tell her initially and then that I felt I'd let her down. She said to me (of course) that she'd much rather know and be a part of the journey because if I did mc (as I did) she would want to be there for me. All our mothers have been through this before and they know the uncertainty in the early days. Your relationship with your mother may be different, but just consider what I said.

@puravida31 nap time is the winner. I'm such a waste of space. I can't sleep at night and I'm napping all over the place in the day. Thank god im on a holiday week.

Wineandchoccy · 03/07/2018 19:11

Ugh I feel rough I’m hot, uncomfortable and feel sick Sad
Just found some malteasers in the cupboard though so trying those to see if I just need a bit of sugar.

Wineandchoccy · 03/07/2018 19:13

We didn’t tell anybody until 12 weeks when my 1st pregnancy ended in mmc it was horrible telling people but I felt so different the 2nd time I just knew it would it be ok so also waited until 12 weeks. I’m undecided on whether to tell my parents earlier this time definitely won’t be telling work until after the scan.

RachaelT · 03/07/2018 19:24

Starting to struggle eating - the smell of food cooking turns my stomach and hubby's having ¾ of what ever I cook as I need to force the other ¼ down. Trying to eat more at lunch to off set the lighter dinners.

What else can I cook other than fresh pasta and stir fries that takes a few minutes? I can hold it together for that long! ps hubby can't cook!

On another matter back after an ultrasound (booked in to investigate possible infertility before we got our BFP) and the sonographer said that there could be an early pregnancy but did kind of dodge saying it outright (got to see my GP who referred me next week).

peonylover22 · 03/07/2018 19:26

Hi everyone 👋🏻 Can I join? Was trying to hold out a bit longer, but this thread is moving fast and I want to be in the gang!

Name: Peonylover22
Age: 35
Area: NE London
Other children: All being well, this will be my 2nd. I also have a DS (nearly 18 months) who is very lively.
EDD: 10 March

I’m feeling a bit tired today, but otherwise pretty good. Tender boobs, bit light headed at times, teary, and heightened sense of smell but nothing awful. I didn’t have any morning sickness with DS so hoping for the same this time.

On the exercise questions, I did a lot of exercise throughout my last pregnancy, so have done a fair amount of research. The key is to listen to your body and not over-exert or over-heat yourself. You can keep doing your pre-pregnancy regime but adjust the effort levels. So with running you shouldn’t go above whatever is a 6 or 7 out of 10 of effort for you with 10/10 being flat-out sprint. For me that means no hill running and no interval training and generally a slower pace. I had hoped to run until the end of the second trimester last time but stopped at 20 weeks as it was starting to mean pelvic pain.
Pilates is great. I did a reformer pilates class this lunchtime and told the instructor that I was pregnant even though I’m only 4 and a bit weeks. He modified the ab exercises for me (no crunches and no static planks) and generally kept an eye on me.

Congratulations everyone on your BFPs!

WildFlower2018 · 03/07/2018 19:37

@RachaelT what about a few packets of those premade salads from the supermarket. Cous cous, quinoa, or edamame beans etc? Simple case of opening the packet and eating them cold. Could have with a wrap or sandwich too if you fancy it.

Other small and quick meal ideas... stuff on toast? Soup?

firsttimenerves · 03/07/2018 19:47

There's a certain football match on which is providing a great opportunity for me to catch up on what everyone is up to!

@thefirsttimer I didn't realise it was possible to name change! That's a good idea, I will change to 'nervousnelly' to try to avoid any confusion!

Is it normal for symptoms to have eased off? I spent last week and the weekend feeling exhausted and a little sicky, but today and yesterday I seem to be back to normal, which I'm finding very disconcerting! Any words of reassurance from someone who has been through this before?!

RachaelT · 03/07/2018 19:48

Yeah salads are another thing we're eating @WildFlower2018 (on this I heard we should avoid pre-prepared ones due to chance of bacteria from not being thoroughly cleaned) - and when it's not so warm I'd be happy, with the appetite I currently have, to eat soup or something on toast... but I don't want hubby to starve and those wouldn't be enough for him to come home to after work.

frankiefumbles · 03/07/2018 19:50

Welcome @peonylover22 :) join the club! Interesting re exercise. Rather as I would expect. I'm just so wasted that I don't even aspire to doing anything right now. Believe it will settle. Clearly all my energy is going in to the greedy poppyseed

nervousnelly8 · 03/07/2018 19:50

Nervousnelly taken already so this is me (firsttimenerves) name changed!

Wineandchoccy · 03/07/2018 19:54

firsttimenerves my symptoms keep coming and going and last pregnancy I had zero symptoms apart from a bump and missed period I would not have had a clue made up for it with a 3 day labour though Grin

WildFlower2018 · 03/07/2018 20:07

@firsttimenerves

"Is it normal for symptoms to have eased off? I spent last week and the weekend feeling exhausted and a little sicky, but today and yesterday I seem to be back to normal, which I'm finding very disconcerting!"

I'm a first timer too & that's exactly what's happened to me.

Fatigued and nauseous, then nothing for a few days. Feeling back to normal today except for a weird sour craving all night!
