Hello all! I got my BFP this morning at 10dpo and am apparently due 1st March with my third baby. Now feeling that familiar paranoia about what might go wrong, but hopeful all will be well. Is anyone else due in March yet? 😬

No worries @MistakenHoliday! Just to clarify it's the iron tablets that I think can potentially make the nausea worse. Yes I'm the same, had the odd wave of nausea but nothing major yet - it started about 5 weeks in last time for me and I'm currently 4+3 so dreading it!

hamandpease · 01/07/2018 17:55

The thing that confuses me about omega 3 is that I've stopped taking the cod liver oil I was taking before I got pregnant because it has vitamin A.

Sounds like you can get an omega 3 supplement with nothing else in it though?

Wineandchoccy · 01/07/2018 17:58

Spa tone iron supplement is good just expensive

Murphyrocks · 01/07/2018 18:38

@hamandpease yes I think cod liver oil is a type of omega 3? There are lots of decent ones out there but I think you're right that cod liver oil is a no-no when pg. You can also get vegan ones without fish if you don't like the fishy taste! Company called nothing fishy :)

@MistakenHoliday
For the time being I knew I needed to get the folic acid in so I've just taken the Pregnacare ones. I was partly tempted by the fact that they were in Tesco bargain bin....

Once I've gone through this packet I might consider getting something different and also maybe some omega oils. I am not a vegetarian or vegan but I prefer not to eat animal products so conscious I need to be careful with this during pregnancy. Haven't really looked in to this too much yet as I haven't really had the time and I feel in the early days the most important thing is that folic acid.

Welcome to all our extra members @Olivia2019 @Rachh84 @Sarahandduck (have I missed anyone...?!)

Emmafh3 · 01/07/2018 21:59

I'm a vegie and just got mine from Morrisons I think. Or tesco. But I'm sure both have fish free omega 3 only tablets.
But I was a bit iffy taking it when I know that it's usually a little man produced, whereas fish oil is just that.
Personal choices and much research needed-its been a long time since I needed that info!

Murphyrocks · 01/07/2018 22:31

@Emmafh3 I'd definitely look into nothing fishy then - I think theirs is made from the algae that the fish eat to get the omega 3 in the first place and they grow it in farms in Sweden or something so pretty planet friendly I think. We eat very little meat as dh was veggie for 20 years but do indulge in meat every so often, and eat oily fish once a week for health reasons.

@frankiefumbles yes agree folic acid is by far the most important thing at the moment!

thefirsttimer · 01/07/2018 22:42

Frankie sorry about your dream, that must have been awful Sad. It's strange what the mind puts us through isn't it!

Welcome and congrats Mistaken, Sarah, Rach and Olivia Smile

Wine I've also had some dizziness today! I do get it every now and again though (low blood pressure) so I'm not sure if it's just that or preg related really!

I'm just taking the pregnacare supplements - have started taking them at night though as I was finding they were adding to my nausea in the morning! It seems to settle after around 7pm, anyone else? So much for morning sickness!

firsttimenerves · 01/07/2018 23:36

Welcome to all the newcomers, so nice that the group is growing!

We went to my cousin's son's first birthday party today. They have a 4 year old and a 1 year old, both bundles of energy. Nightmare trying to explain why I have no energy to run around after them!

I have a whole new level of admiration for those of you who have the symptoms whilst already having DCs to look after - hats off to you!

thefirsttimer · 01/07/2018 23:52

I've been thinking the same firsttimenerves Shock kudos to you all who have DC already!

Goatlady5812 · 02/07/2018 05:07

Not loving all these early mornings! Always awake by 4am and unable to get back to sleep!! I suppose it means all
My washing is always done, dishwasher emptied, house tidy, Dog has no idea what’s hit him as he’s getting so many walks!

frankiefumbles · 02/07/2018 07:30

@Goatlady5812 impressed you get up and get stuff done! I wake up at about 5ish but as soon as I get vertical I feel sick? I've realised I can stave off the nausea by remaining horizontal. Not sure why that would be.

Last night was lovely from about 4pm onwards, but it's 33deg here in France and I'm wearing a hoody and getting funny looks! I find it remarkable what my body is doing...and all those symptoms for a barely perceptible poppy seed...

Goatlady5812 · 02/07/2018 07:39

@frankiefumbles that made me smile. If you need to wear a hoody you wear a hoody!!! I tend to feel quite sick in the morning but it’s the opposite to you as in once I’m up and about I’m ok!! Hope you don’t feel
Too bad today x

ladycarlotta · 02/07/2018 08:03

I've alternated between being nauseous and starving before now, but this morning I am SIMULTANEOUSLY nauseous and starving.

@frankiefumbles my app says it's the size of a orange pip now, which feels like quite a big jump from poppy seed, so our bodies are working darn hard.

ladycarlotta · 02/07/2018 08:04

also re horizontal/vertical, I've seen the advice quite a lot to eat something plain - biscuit or plain toast or something - before you attempt to get up, which helps the nausea. I haven't tried it, but it might be helpful.

Sarahandduckarehigh · 02/07/2018 08:13

On the vitamins debate: I got anaemic when I was pregnant with my son, so I am keen to avoid that. I will probably splurge on some spatone sachets and take one every couple of days with a glass of orange juice in the morning and then a normal pregnancy multivitamin in the evenings. Good thought on omega 3, I think the reason I didn't take it last time was because I read some research suggesting the artificial version doesn't absorb well; but I suppose every little helps!

Someone downthread recommended the "expecting better" book - it is fabulous and properly evidence-based. Too much of advice directed at pregnant women infantilises us and treats us as incapable of taking sensible decisions. I plan to eat brie and steak and enjoy it. I'll give us alcohol up to 12 weeks and then have the odd beer or glass of wine after that.

I think there are some others here still breastfeeding toddlers? It's lovely not to be the only one. Smile Am not planning to tandem though, so will probably stop during pregnancy. I'd quite like to make it to his birthday in October as 2 is a nice milestone.

Murphyrocks · 02/07/2018 08:39

@sarahandduckarehigh I agree on all of what you've said 😀 Soft cheese is fine as long as it's cooked properly, same for steak, sushi I'm OK with too after the first trimester as long as I know where it comes from as EU regulations state it has to be frozen before human consumption which kills the parasites the advice to avoid it refers to. Odd glass of wine after 1st trimester I'm comfortable with too. Going on evidence not scaremongering! Also yes I did feed my toddler until 21 months, stopped when we decided to start ttc as I was concerned about the impact on fertility and like you say I wanted to stop around 2 years old anyway so seemed a good time. Tandem feeding is impressive but sounds exhausting! I think toddler bfing is more common than people realise just because it's not often done in public. And there's several on here as a sample!

sunlighthouse · 02/07/2018 09:42

Hello everyone, I got my BFP yesterday (think I was 10 DPO) so just hopping on here!

Name: sunlighthouse
Age: 32
Current DC: I have a DD aged 2
Location: London
EDD: 12th March

No symptoms yet I don't think think! Had terrible morning sickness last time and dreading that stage this time around. Otherwise, very happy and excited 😁

Murphyrocks · 02/07/2018 09:53

Hi, @sunlighthouse, welcome to the March-ers and big congrats on your bfp! Fx morning sickness isn't as bad this time around! Mine hasn't been so far touch wood and and I have a 2 year old too 😀

thefirsttimer · 02/07/2018 10:03

Welcome and congratulations sunlight Smile fingers crossed your morning sickness isn't as bad 🤞🏼

Shampooeeee · 02/07/2018 10:31

Welcome sunlight and congrats!

Sarah I’m still breastfeeding my ds at just over 2 years. I would like a break before the next one so will hopefully stop before Christmas. I’m successfully winding it down now, I seem to have night weaned him (almost accidentally!) and so we are only left with the bedtime feed and nap time feed (unless nap time happens in the car and then he can go 24 hours between feeds).
I also let him have boobie in exceptional circumstances, like this morning after he had diarrhoea...in a hotel room. Grim, grim, grim. What is the preggo equivalent of needing a gin?

I tried Spatone previously when I had low iron but it didn’t seem to make any difference. Now I’m going to try Floradix, or “floral dicks” as I like to call it. I take pregnacare multivitamins. Murphy your vitamin schedule is very impressive!

MistakenHoliday · 02/07/2018 11:38

@sunlighthouse that's my EDD too! 😀

mostimproved · 02/07/2018 18:52

@sunlighthouse welcome from another Londoner!

Just been to see my GP and found out my borough provides free healthy start vitamins for all pregnant mothers not just those on benefits/low income so will save myself a bit of money buying folic acid and vitamin D! I think I will buy some calcium supplements though as I don't eat much dairy anyway.

Has anyone else got an under active thyroid? My GP increased my thyroxine as my TSH levels have increased and it's recommended to increase during pregnancy anyway. I'm just worried the higher dose won't kick in fast enough and I'm at risk of MC, but trying to tell myself I'm doing everything I can and not to stress over what I can't control.. easier said than done though!

thefirsttimer · 02/07/2018 19:06

most I do! I was on 75mcg but saw my endocrinologist as soon as we found out and he upped it to 100mcg. How much has yours been increased by? I too am worried the increased dose won't be enough and about the extra risks associated with it Sad.

I picked up a blood form from my GP's today to get my TSH levels checked but the consultant had only requested they be done at 8 weeks (then at 4 weekly intervals after that). I would have felt more reassured getting them done now too really, just to make sure the 25mcg increase is enough!
