Hellooooo !!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi Kiteflying! Freya and anita are very nice, just checking them out online now. Not sure if I should risk a pricey bra purchase online from here though, maybe best to get some cheap M&S for now and get fitted properly in UK for nursing bras.
It would be ok to turn up at A&E dept of NHS hosp in labour but I'd like to know I'm expected somewhere and I want the reassurance that the epidural is ready and waiting for me!

kiteflying · 23/05/2007 12:27

Itchy you probably want a scan when you arrive as well and if you go overdue.
I have personally declined any further scans unless I go over my due date but that is not a recommended course!

kiteflying · 23/05/2007 12:33

Oh and the total support bra I bought is the one on the first page of the online catalogue for £16 as a Featured Product. The embroidered cross over appears in the non-wired section for £12.
OK now I feel kind of weird that everyone knows what bra I am wearing

itchyncsratchy · 23/05/2007 12:48

your secrets are safe with us kite! I take it thats's M&S? 12 pounds is excellent!
I wince everytime I see UK prices, my earnings are in US$

conkertree · 23/05/2007 13:55

hi everyone - you all seem very organised with your bras. i just went and bought two nursing type ones fairly early on cause i didnt want to keep wearing underwired ones when pregnant, but have just stuck with them since.

i really should get fitted for some properly.

was reading the hairy tummy thing someone mentioned below - think that may be another indication i might be having a boy - have a strong gut instinct that it is, and my tummy is definately a bit hairier than normal.

finally bought some tester pots at the weekend to paint the babys room. dont know why we bothered really though - three shades of cream and really cream is cream. no idea how we will decide that one is better than the others.

mil has gone and bought yet more material without speaking to us first. this lot is apparently meant for the curtains, despite the fact that there are perfectly good curtains in the room already. think someone is going to have to have words with her soon. again.

jem1969 · 23/05/2007 14:59

Just made my first baby purchase!! Am a bit behind the times but thought I'd better get on with it.
Got a pram (thought if I bought it now I wouldn't be able to change my mind again). Slightly embarassed to say that went for the Bugaboo (in the new colours- chocolate brown-v nice) but did find somewhere that did a 'bundle' so got the car seat and ridiculously expensive adaptors for less than half price in the end.
Loving the bra talk- am wearing M&S padded ones that they said I'd grow into but there's still a huge gap.

Mrsshuvel · 23/05/2007 15:43

Jem - Where did you get the bug from as thats definitely what we're getting? Chocolate brown? haven't seen that.... will have to take a look.

jem1969 · 23/05/2007 15:56

Got it from Lullabys online as they were taking orders for the new fabrics and none of the others seem to be yet. Don't know what they're like but some messages on here said they had good customer service etc.
the chocolate brown is one of the new fabrics that are soming in for the chameleon so you don't have to have the fleece. (All the new colours are on the Bugaboo website so you can play around and see what they look like)They are meant to be in in June but the woman in John Lewis said there was a problem in Rotterdam or something. Thought I'd order it now anyway- can will get a fleecy one if they don't come in in time.
Feel quite organisd- there was a girl in JL asking if they could deliver a Bugaboo in the next couple of days as she was due next week and hadn't ordered a pram yet

Mrsshuvel · 23/05/2007 16:13

Will definitely check out lullabys then. Keep telling DP we need to order soon as i don't want to be left without a pram. He keeps saying we have ages. Hahhahaha yeah right!

bananabump · 23/05/2007 16:32

They all think we have ages yet. Mine keeps going "well, in four months time...." and I'm like "It's ten weeks, dp...TEN WEEKS!"

Denial, anyone?

jem1969 · 23/05/2007 16:44

I know- and as I said below evryone I know seems to be having their FIRST babies early- 2 weeks in some cases.
Am thinking of starting maternity leave a bit earlier- do you think it's a good idea to finish on Friday 13th?? Bit spooky- maybe I should go for Thursday 12th??

conkertree · 23/05/2007 16:51

I would do - but i'm not really superstitious at all. its amazing how many people wont buy or sell their house on a friday 13th.

am going tohave a look at the lullaby website too as really need some inspiration on buggies. dh really likes the maclaren techno xt but there is just something about the baby facing away from us from birth and not having any protection at the other end that i am not happy about - although we do plan to mostly use the didymos sling instead of the buggy in the first 6 months.

loler · 23/05/2007 16:55

I've got a fuzzy tummy too - not sure you can tell one way or the other. had very very fuzzy one with DD (went completely after a couple of months - so relax!), had none at all with DS. So another 3 months and I'll be able to say if it means anything to me!

TT - I'm so pleased you went to the peppermill - no-one else has ever taken my recommendation! We got married 29/10/99 so just a bit before you. (had to look at the engraving on my ring to remember the date!)

Still off work with dodgy eye - don't think it will ever get better, keep asking DH if he'll still love me with an eye patch. He thinks it could be a great fashion accessory!

jem1969 · 23/05/2007 16:57

I'm not superstitious either usually but can't quite decide. I have to go to an NCT class all day on the Wednesday so it would be quite nice just to come in for just one more day after that- would feel like a nice short week.
The Lullabys website looked good.

Annie75 · 23/05/2007 17:13

I bought a second hand Bugaboo Frog from someone at work and it seems like a fun pram - lightweight and simple to manage once you get the knack of dismantling it. Those carry systems make me want to cry just looking at them.

God, yes, isn't it creeping up on us? I'm completely of the school of thought of put everything off cos we've loooooadsa time. I was just reading on the births section about someone's friend's baby that's just been born at 30 weeks - and then lots of people have posted in reply saying they or someone they've known, have given birth before that date. Blimey...

Am orf shortly for a week's hol and you-know-what . Catch you all in June x.

Mrsshuvel · 23/05/2007 17:23

Have a fab time Annie!

Have decided we're gonna get the sand and chocolate Bugaboo deal with the blue Maxi Cosi from lullabys. Phoned DP to tell him the exciting news and suprisingly he wasn't that excited.

Eye patches could be very fashionable with the new Pirates film being released soon. Joking aside, really do hope it gets better Loler.

katybird · 23/05/2007 17:34

Have a fab holiday Annie!

Someone asked about Rigby and Peller this morning - they have a shop in Knightsbridge next to Harrods, one on Conduit Street near Oxford Circus and one at Brent Cross. Seems posh but they're not at all really, can be pricy though.

I'm still clueless about buggies, saw someone with a Graco pram on the bus the other day and it looked nice and compact but I don't know anyone who can recommend them. Have to get myself off to John Lewis.

Just ordered a ridiculous number of clothes from maternity websites, feeling v guilty but I'm going on holiday in two weeks and I need shorts! That's my excuse anyway. Dp's away with work again so hopefully I'll have sent all the ones that don't fit back before he returns.

katybird · 23/05/2007 17:41

Oh, and one of my colleagues just told me about her sister, who gave birth last week. She was in hospital, booked in for an induction the next day, and she felt a pain in her side. 6 minutes later her daughter was born . I'd like one of those please!

loler · 23/05/2007 18:19

Just got a text from a friend - she had DS2 yesterday (12 days late) and he was 10lb 8oz! - I'll have one of the 6 min babies too please!

Annie - have a fantastic day and an even better honeymoon. Looking forward to seeing the photos!

katybird · 23/05/2007 18:25

Crikey, don't think we'll manage six minutes with a baby that big! Hope your friend's doing ok.

bananabump · 23/05/2007 18:34

6 minutes????

Bet I'll be in labour so long they'll have to shave me twice.

jem1969 · 23/05/2007 18:37

Have a great time Annie

MrsShuvel- have gone for the sand and choc brown as well and the 'skydiver' seat! I could quite get in to all this internet shopping now!
Loler- I had an eye patch for ages when I was about 6- lazy eye. Teemed with my nhs pink specs I was quite a looker i can tell you.

Babylovesmuffins · 23/05/2007 20:16

Hi all. Didn't manage to get on to MN all day today - I actually did some work for a change

On prams, I think we're going for the Quinny Buzz travel system - I've heard mixed reports but I think as long as you don't take it off-road it performs quite well (or so DH tells me - anyone else's DP/DH more into their prams/travel systems than you?? I'm finding it quite scary)

Katybird my cousin has a Graco travel system and swears by it - I can't remember what model it is but will try to find a pic. She thinks they're great. Loads of storage space too - which is one thing that concerns me about the Quinny...

Hi Jem - I'm with you on not finishing on Friday 13th July!! I'm not that superstitious but I opted to work on until Friday 20th instead!! I'll still have until August 22nd though (hopefully - unless baby comes early )

jem1969 · 23/05/2007 20:26

Hi babylovesmuffins

My DH was quite taken with the Quinny Buzz but I could hardly lift it! Agree about them being into it. When he found out I'd booked the John Lewis 2 hour nursery appointment he was huffing and puffing but then got far more into it than me. Kept trying to get me to collapse all the prams etc but disn't appreciate that my huge bump made that a bit hard.
I was going to leave on the 20th too but I just don't think I can be bothered to go on that long- also will be really busy at work at that time and I don't want to get dragged into it. Hopefully can take a bit of holiday before starting proper leave. I'mnot due till the 18th but getting freaked out by all the early births and am quite capable of lying on my arse all day doing nothing so don't think I'll get bored!

tokentotty · 23/05/2007 20:35

Uuuuuggggghhhhhhh

I'm soooo ill....no-one's ever been this ill ever....Oh hang on, no. Cause that would make me a man
Paying the penance for holiday methinks. Sore throat and a nose that seriously has not stopped running for 24 hours. Even during the night yesterday I was sneezing and blowing my nose ! Pesky aeroplanes... I do actually feel truly shocking and realise how much I miss taking Day/night nurse that's for sure.
Anyway glad to hear how everyone's getting organised, am very impressed with you all
