sorry haven't a clue

Annie75 · 22/05/2007 11:35

Gorgeous dresses - the Homemummy one is v stylish. I had same dilemma myself recently. Am whispers getting married soon and gave up on the idea of something trad with a big bump. Went for this in bright pink from Isabella O . Blimey, just noticed they have a sale in the dresses and it's now reduced by £20. That's not fair - I haven't even worn it yet

I will go forth and purchase some Floradix then, TT. The end of June sounds v sensible time to start maternity leave. I'm convinced I'm going to be early, so maybe I'll build in an extra week or so just in case. Would be gutted not to get any relaxation time before the baby's born. And re Branston Hicks, I've been getting them loads too. Actually, I had a really strong one last night where I couldn't walk for a bit, which was scary and I genuinely felt as though I'd damaged myself I'd headed out with the dog and think I might have walked a bit far. Keeping it all a bit shorter from now on.

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 11:40

Annie !!! How long 'til the wedding ?? That dress is fab, I looked at that longingly for ages but ended up getting one in black from somewhere the other week which I figured I'd get more wear out of. This is obviously bollox though as then wondered where on earth I thought I would be going to, to wear a fancy dress when I don't really go out anywhere fancy at the moment !

Mrsshuvel · 22/05/2007 11:57

Right... not sure if this is gona work cos it's the first time i've tried.

Found the white and green dress on the website white and green dress

They don't show the dressing up box dress as i got it in the sale but also bought this one although it looks a bit like a nighty nighty dress

Mrsshuvel · 22/05/2007 11:58

Woo hoo worked!!!!

Annie i luuurve that dress, definitely one to highlight my saddlebags though!

MrsBadger · 22/05/2007 12:01

Congratulations Annie! pink dress looks gorgeous.

TT, view the pic in hotmail as normal and either click and hold then choose 'save image', or just drag it out of the browser window onto your desktop. Should upload to MN as normal from there.

Green and white dress is very cool MrsS- see what you mean about the white one but it'll be so comfy when it's really hot.

Won't be able to take pics till I get home but will do them, promise...

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 12:09

Ah ok, will give that a whirl MrsB. In the meantime MrsS, can't believe it but that's where I got all my maternity stuff from in the US !!! Going to see if I can find the dresses I bought...

Annie75 · 22/05/2007 12:14

Doing the deed on Friday . Actually looking forward to it as we're keeping it v low-key, so should be a day to enjoy rather than get stressed about. Quite like the fact that the baby will feature in the photos, albeit via a big bump!

MrsS - yes, I reckon A-line dresses like that one are the best for hiding bits and that looks lovely and cool. I've got a nice denim skirt which does that for me at the moment. Such a shame Gap maternity hasn't spread to everywhere yet. Reckon they'd have been a great source of maternity stuff.

Annie75 · 22/05/2007 12:16

Ooh, love that dress, TT. Nice find!

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 12:18

Oh, and am wearing this one right now as I type:
here

THIS Friday Annie ?? Wow, how lovely! Go on...tell us a bit more about it....

katybird · 22/05/2007 12:18

Hi everyone, so many cool dresses! Love the green and white one and yours TT, definitely great for summer.

Baby bumps do balance out other wobbly bits I think, distracts the eye. I'm still avoiding lycra though!

Wow Annie, how exciting! I'm planning ours for next May (happily living in sin for now) and it all seems overwhelming at the mo. I want low-key but it's so hard once you start looking into all the arrangements. How have you managed it?

I'm planning to go on maternity leave two weeks before I'm due, but I might change my mind nearer the time. I'm sure I'm being wildly optimistic about how I'll cope in the heat.

myweegirl · 22/05/2007 12:23

hi everyone - not posted for ages. hope you are all well? been trying to catch up with all the posts all morning (work keeps getting the way though) -
some of the stories have been incredible from insensitive medical staff to quick births on the M90!!

the dresses look faboulous! and i look forward to the fashion show

we've been potty training dd since saturday - she's 2.4 and so far she has been an absolute star - am so proud of her - 1 accident on sunday and 1 yesterday. she's off to childminders today so i'm hoping that she continues to be as good and doesn't get too distracted...

i had my midwife appoint yesterday and am measuring big again - measured big with DD and she was 3 weeks early so i'm hoping that this one will come a couple of weeks early too!! anyone else have experience of this or is it wishful thinking on my part?

myweegirl · 22/05/2007 12:26

annie - congratulations - have a great day on friday!

tokentotty · 22/05/2007 12:30

Ok pics on profile - think I've answered my own question about which one photographs best though....
Katybird, you never know, you might find it much easy to keep your wedding small scale and under control once the baby's arrived as you'll be so otherwise occupied !
Hey Myweegirl, sounds like you're doing brilliantly with DD's potty training, well done. Will be a relief to have only one in nappies at a time I'm sure !

OP posts:
Annie75 · 22/05/2007 12:46

Ooh, nice dresses! You're looking really well, TT and have a lovely neat bump. Am tempted to buy one more dress now after seeing all the links... can't justify it, but maybe...

Oh, not much to tell about the day, really. We um-ed and ah-ed for ages about how to do it, before deciding we'd better get a move on if we wanted to marry before the baby arrives. So, reg office, followed by beachy walk and pub lunch with a few friends, and then a nice slap up meal in the evening. I wasn't going to succumb to any wedding paraphernalia but a friend said I might regret not making a bit of an effort, so am getting hair done and a bunch of fleurs made up to carry.

Re keeping it cheap, Katybird - that's why we decided on a dull reg office - everywhere we were interested in seemed soooo expensive and I ended up thinking that it was the act itself that was more important to me than the venue. I think as soon as you say the word 'wedding' to any suppliers, they see the money walking right up. Someone I know was telling me she was worrying about what seat covers to get for her reception as they were another cost. Seat covers? Why?!

Mrsshuvel · 22/05/2007 13:29

Those dresses are really nice TT. I found that shop an hour before we were due at the airport so didn't have a lot of time there unfortunately. Well it was probably a good thing actually as my case was over weight as it was.

Very of all the wedding plans. Not sure that it will ever happen for us. We know we will be together for ever but other things keep cropping up. 1st bought a house, then sold that to buy another house, now the baby. One expense after another. All the family keeps asking when they will hear wedding bells but all i can say is as some point. I think we're gonna concentrate on baby for a while and then see how it goes. Have a fab time on friday and make sure you upload us some pics if you can.

bananabump · 22/05/2007 13:32

Hi all, congrats on your upcoming big day, Annie! That dress you've chosen is lovely, I love pink.

Just got back from the consultants, he was lovely and totally reassured me that baby is absolutely fine and is actually on target growth wise. He said that they had thought maybe he would be big because I was, which is what I suspected! But no, he's fine.

He also said I don't have gestational diabetes so yay! But apparently my hb level is low at 10.2 so he's prescribed iron tablets, and a visit to see the anaesthesiologist to see how many horse tranquillisers it'll take to knock me out.

Very chuffed that I can get back to looking forward to meeting baby! Also looking forward to starting antenatal classes next week, think it will be a laugh!

Annie75 · 22/05/2007 15:00

Aw, ace news, bananabump! You can relax now and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Glad you saw someone sensible today.

MrsShuvel, I know exactly what you mean about always postponing it. We've been engaged for three and a half years! It was realising that I didn't want a big wedding anyway that made us think we'd go for it and we've sorted it within a month. But bar the dress and the fees for the reg office, we're not spending much else on the day. That's quite a liberating feeling! A hint - getting married on a weekday, wherever you decide, is cheaper

kiteflying · 22/05/2007 16:11

Hi everyone. It has been lovely just catching up on this new thread. So much good news. Congratulations Annie! Hope you have a lovely day - am sure you will look fabulous in that dress.

TT - welcome back and great pics!

Bananabump, make sure you complain about that sonographer but you must be relieved to be treated well by the consultant.

Welcome to Ceolas! Notice you have gone a bit quiet since we threatened to inundate you with questions as a veteran mum.

My news is that I had my booking in appointment with a midwife at the Royal Free last night. I realise this is a bit comical at 26 weeks (today! Hooray!) but it was a reassuring appointment. Have had a consultant recommended who is very anti-caesarian and slow to intervene and apparently the birth centre have no fixed policy about how long you can be in second stage ("we have no clock watchers here!" [indignant and laughing]) so I am much more relaxed about being at a hospital for the birth than I was.
Katybird, thanks for the number for the Edgeware Birth Centre by the way. Hope your SPD has improved. Have you organised to see an osteopath yet? How lovely that you are planning a wedding that your little one can be part of. We would like to do that but will probably wait to try and fill out our family by another one (optimism reigns in our house at the moment) as my five month morning sickness this time round does not really bode well for planning a wedding in between two babies!

I am not going to leave work until two weeks before EDD. It is my little revenge for all the bullying. That and I thought I would eat garlic a lot between now and August.

Love all the dresses!

Babylovesmuffins · 22/05/2007 16:56

Hi all! Crikey - only had one day off work (on holiday which was fab )and I've missed loads of posts AND the excitement of a new thread!!!

Have been catching up on everyone's news. I'm VERY excited as we've had the baby's nursery painted today!!! Which means we can start moving everything into the room and maybe get it finished - and best of all it only cost £40!!! Desperate to rush back home from work to see it but I've got prenatal yoga tonight so I'll just have to wait...

Welcome back TT! Glad to hear you had a good time in Vegas.

Mrs B - I will be lumbering with you and would be happy to eat ice-cream too... totally agree with you that yoga is an excellent way of getting some time out just to relax, more than anything else! I don't think I would make myself lie down and relax during the week otherwise.... (fell asleep at last week's class!!)

Bananabump - sorry to hear about your rough treatment but pleased to hear that your consultant was pleasant and most importantly, professional. (And I don't think you would be acting over-sensitively to complain about the sonographer - I would have been livid...). Glad baby Banana is doing fine!

Annie - fantastic news on the wedding!!! Your dress is just beautiful - will you post some pics after the Big Day??! Please??

Pinkranger - is it really just less than 14 weeks to 22nd August!!!!!! Also feeling very sleepy in the afternoons....zzzzzzzzzz. oh, and birthing balls are fab!! DH pumped mine up at the weekend and it's really comfy to sit on, even when watching TV!!! Helps with the lower back pain that's started to kick in...

Ceolas - welcome! My dating scan put me at 22nd August but by my own calculations I reckon I'm due on 24th August too...

Loler - hope your eye is getting better and the chicken pox is all over. (I mean disappeared ). Glad to hear your cat has not been vicious with your children... ours bites as well as scratches... will just need to keep an eye on it...

Lizziemun - I can't believe you were told to ignore your appetite - surely this is the most important time for the baby to put on weight and grow?????!! I'd always heard that pregnancy is not the time to start dieting...

Conkertree - I really admire your friend's husband delivering the baby at the side of the M90!! where are you having yours? I'm either going to St John's Livingston or Edinburgh Royal (can't decide which...) hopefully not the M9 or Edinburgh City Bypass though!!

Still trying to catch up with other posts. Hope everyone else well.

Muffins
xx

Gosh this thread moves fast!

Will do my best to keep up for the last trimester

Fire away with the questions, kiteflying. Veteran maybe, but my brain is definitely mush atm!
