Hellooooo !!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oooh Mrs B - that does look lovely....PIL can be useful... my Mum has a static van in cornwall, the source of many a free and idyllic holiday. Only prob is where we put Lo when we go down in sept.

growingbagpuss · 04/06/2007 11:30

funny thing is, now DH has cleared off, DS has reverted to being lovely... he's building traffic jams with his cars!!

I got those new E111 type card things for France, then discovered our travel insurance specifically excludes pregnancy related conditions - tried to explain to DH that if I go into labour WE ARE DRIVING HOME - I am not giving birth to a prem baby in a hospital where I don't speak enough of the language.. with nothing but a porsceh to get home in!!

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 11:34

TT - what sort of pram did you go for in the end? I'm about to order a Quinny Buzz travel system from Kiddicare but I can't find out anywhere if the Maxi-Cosi Cabrio Fix car seat will fit in either of our cars... When I looked at the Maxi-Cosi website it just said they couldn't confirm if the car seat base would fit . Will keep looking...

MrsBadger · 04/06/2007 11:42

this should be the heron

they don't let it out - they only live an hour away so are on it themselves most weekends - but these hire people had the comfiest-looking boats if you fancy it.

tokentotty · 04/06/2007 11:45

I bought this one and love it. Is amazingly easy to operate, has the exact features I wanted, I think it's funky and have also bought the Maxi Cosi Cabrio carseat which does slot on as easily as something that's very easy.

Bagpuss
How pg willyou be in France? We are going in a couple of weeks for the weekend and my travel insurance covers me to 32 weeks but i will be 32+2 when some back so will be invalid. I'm trusting my luck to the E111- DH speaks the language and has family in Geneva which isn't far away..It's not so much the labour in a foreign hospital that worries me (although will bear near Nice so all the other mothers would prob be super thin and chic) it's more that if had the baby would be v early so it might have to stay in. Anyway- not really worried as all OK so far.
On the sportscar issue- my DH has a 2 seater MX-5 that he isn't selling. He thinks he'll be able to drive it lots after the LO is born. Not sure where he thinks he'll be going. We need to sell the other car though- 3 doors, no room once a buggy is in there etc etc but everything on it runs out in Oct so will try and wait till then by which time it will probably have fallen apart anyway.
Decorators started today- yipee (but 3 weeks of chaos.

Mrsshuvel · 04/06/2007 11:56

Mrs B, very those pics are absolutely gorgeous!

Glad DS is happier now GrowingBP. Get DH to try Metropolis in Greenwich for a bike if he absolutely has to have one. My DP is manager there, i'll get him to give you a Mumsnet discount .

Had very busy shopping weekend. Spent far too much money. Bought changing matt, bottles, an egg room thermometer, which i think is a bit pointless now as we plugged it in and instantly told us the room was too hot and has been ever since. I realise that and its not even august yet! Bought loads more but having PG brain sqidge today and can't remember anything else.

Took DP suit shopping sunday and managed to get him a very nice grey suit, pink shirt and pink tie. Very weddingy and goes with my dusky pink nan's dressing up box dress that i still haven't posted a pic of yet. He then informed me that he would need a new pair of shoes as the side stand of a motorbike had gone through the top of his shoes. Why do men always tell you these things at the last minute? It's lucky our new lodger moved in and gave us the rent money or he would have been wearing his trainers! I'm sure he thinks i can just pull money out of my arse when he needs it!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 04/06/2007 11:57

Mrs B - sounds like you had a lovley time, we are off to butlins in 4 weeks ( minhead) ds will have lots to do and i have a week of relaxing while DH runs after him all day!
Well my Maclaren Techno xlr arrived this morning and to say im pleased is an understatement, it is FAB! my ds maclaren we had when he was 1 yr so it was the basic model, which i loved anyway but this is sooo impressive and all for £164.99!!
Cant do links but got it from a baby site called
pram

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 11:57

Growingbagpuss - I'm sure our babies will want to incubate for a few more weeks - here's hoping!! I am starting to get a little bit worried now however when DH doesn't answer his phone first time. I actually asked him on Friday evening what on earth I was supposed to do to get in contact with him if there was an emergency !!

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 04/06/2007 11:58

OMG - did it

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 04/06/2007 11:58

BLM - konw what you mean have been trying to call dh all morning!!

Mrsshuvel · 04/06/2007 11:59

Meant to add that i'll be relying on E111 card thingy when in france from Thursday for wedding. Definitely taking my hospital book too. Just in case!

Mrsshuvel · 04/06/2007 12:01

Meant to add again that pram looks fab TT, which colour did you go for?

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 12:03

Ooh those are nice prams TT and Pink. Very . Will need to get purchasing mine ASAP!

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 12:04

Hahaha Pink!! DH must have taken note of my strop about not being able to contact him. I phoned him this morning (to ask if he'd fed the cat ) and he picked up first time. Hee hee!!! (Musn't cry wolf too often though )

pinkrangerstartstowaddle · 04/06/2007 12:14

DH has just rang in a flusster as i left a crypitic message on his voicemail!

growingbagpuss · 04/06/2007 12:36

Mrs S - Thanx = i will pass that on

Jem - I'm 31 weeks today so will be 32+3 by the time we go - our insurance only covers up to 8 weeks before EDD.

I haven't been a cmplete a shopaphobe - I bought a cute little winne the ppoh set for LO so she has something new to pop into when she arrives.

I gave up on room thermometers... our gro-bag one always says its too hot or in winter too cold (it was about 12degrees last winter!!)...grobags are great, we put DS in one as soon as he went in his on room, and had swaddled him in a baby flannel sheet tiwl then. Wouldn't buy any earlier, as they grow so fast and I was paranoid about SIDS (even tho grobags are supposed to be really safe)

I'm not sure I want to contact DH to check if he'd answer in an emergency. he thinks while I'm in labour , he and DS will be watching telveision (which is in the same room as I plan to give birtth!)

growingbagpuss · 04/06/2007 12:41

oh cripes, just read spelling in last message. must be low blood sugar. DS asleep- trying to resist tempation to do the same.

must eat..

Mrs B - Heron lovely - have bookmarked c/boats info but face same prob of not drowning a 9 month old.. superglue arm bands on?

MrsBadger · 04/06/2007 12:49

It'd be fine if they weren't mobile - saw one or two teeny tiny babies in moses baskets. Maybe October's the time to do it, before they get too big?

[MrsB plans another trip...]

kiteflying · 04/06/2007 13:14

Afternoon all. Everyone has been so busy! Welcome back Mrs Badger - what lovely snaps. I would love to do a similar trip before LO arrives [starts plotting...]
Very impressed with all the shopping that has been done over the weekend- great prams Pink and TT. I am a bit mizz that I bought my prams so long ago now.
I think Hersetta must win the prize for most organised as she only has a light shade left to complete her nursery in full co-ordinated scheme
Am starting to think I must try out our little egg thermometer. I kind of assumed something so cute would also be the bees knees.
Loler - poor you with that horrid eye infection going around your little family. Hope your DH gets better soon.
Lizziemun - I hope YOU get better soon. Some of us just seem to be at the mercy of other peoples' infections don't we?
MrsS - have you posted that pic oif your dress yet?
I laughed so much at everyone's sports cars stories but also a bit as I seem to have missed that stage of buying something really nice to drive for myself. Always conscious of being in London and not really needing a car so I never indulged in anything I would not mind being nicked
I had a quiet weekend - a bit like Babyloves I am feeling completely done in by very little activity and am swelling in any kind of heat (warmth as I was corrected by my BF on Saturday). We went for a walk in Kew Gardens Sat afternoon which was glorious, but somehow really knackering. I lay down for a nap as soon as we got in, and spent Sunday doing housework and not capable of much else until it was time for yoga.
Our teacher spent a bit of time going through "optimal foetal positioning" with us. It reminded me how much work poor LO has to do to get out of this warm little oven. So I am resolved to work harder on those hymotherapy CDs to kepp us both calm and relaxed and make it as easy as poss for him/her.

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 13:23

Help! Anyone got any good advice on cot mattresses?? I'm trying to do my online order on Kiddicare and I've ordered the cot but don't know which mattress to go for... there are soooo many different types - any ideas?

This order's going to take all day! Been on most of this morning already and they now seem to have removed most of their Maxi-Cosi car seats (just when I'd found out they would be compatible with our cars )

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 13:25

Sorry, meant to say hello Kite
Still feeling shattered today (and I really did nothing much apart from sleep ALL weekend!!!) Hope the post-lunch desire to nap doesn't catch up with us...

tokentotty · 04/06/2007 13:25

Hey BLM, sorry, can't be much help but thought I'd let you know that I can empathise with you on spending ages doing an order on that site. Unfortunately, clicked on a link that DH sent me for a car and it crashed my whole frickin internet system so lost it all AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGHHHHHH !!!

MrsBadger · 04/06/2007 13:27

the only thing I've been told re mattresses is the ones with the zip-off tops that go in the washing machine can make things a lot easier...
