Hi, just stumbled across this page which has pictures of baby's progress in the womb up to about 30 weeks, thought you might like to see it. Personally I can't get enough of these pics as I find it hard to believe there's a perfect little person in there at this point and not a blobby pink prawn like creature!

Hmm
growingbagpuss · 02/06/2007 13:06

curiouser and curioser... who's this moosma anyway?.

on baby monitors.... don't do it! We did buy one for going away, we abandon the babe in our room, and have a civilised meal - perhaps that wasn't the best thing to say inlight of recent events.. but it has worked for us, but in the house i just rely on mother's instinct... i usually wake jsut before the boy shouts.

..but then we have never had stair gates either..so i'm a happy go lucky watch the baby fall down stairs kinda girl...

oohh no, no swollen fingers yet, but I don't doubt that joy is yet to come..is anyone else growing out of their maternity clothes? I think I must be a bit of a heifer.

Dh has just rung from a m/bike dealer... clearly a mid life crisis coming on - he wants to buy a "new" bike - which he would only use about 2 times a month and is 3000 more than what he would get on part ex on the current one...

would someone like to point out his wife is HAVING A BABY!!!!!!!!

loler · 02/06/2007 16:27

Must be something in the air - my dh wants a MGB GT (2 seats - 3 kids?!).

saturn · 02/06/2007 17:54

Hi growingbagpuss, glad you said that about maternity clothes - I expected mine to last until the end, but quite a lot of things no longer fit over my bump. Reluctant to spend out on more with less than three months to go, but might not have a choice - just find maternity clothes so expensive.

MrsBadger · 02/06/2007 21:47

hi girls, nothing thrilling to add but nice to see some of the old faces back .

If anyone else needs to seriously de-stress I can thoroughly recommend a week on a narrowboat in the Brecon Beacons...

MoosMa Was probaly deleted because she/he was advertising a web site for her/his shop without paying the mumsnet fee.

I am still posting at odd times as my laptop still isn't mended .

MrsBadger

I will be glad when august arrives, yet again i have been ill.

I have had a bad cold since thursday, and yesterday could't keep anything down (sorry if tmi).

I hope everyone else is enjoying the weather and weekend.

treacletart · 03/06/2007 16:26

Hi all - haven't posted for a while - and nothing to report really. I haven't had a chance to read all the posts but glad everyone seems well. Some shopping stats .... alreadypurchased:Buggy: 2nd hand first wheels city elite system, Cot: ebay Global bedside crib (adjusts to exact height of our bed with drop side) strangest purchase an egg shaped thing from France that plays natural sounds birdsong waves etc to soothe a baby - DS was very fond of wave noises and I'm hoping this one will be too! favourite products last time around Bumbo, Lansinoh, and tripptrap Yettoget_: a ring sling - fancy going a bit hippy and having my hands free for DS this time around, some reusable nappies (You've all convinced me)

boobooma · 03/06/2007 22:20

Hello to all in the big fat ladies club. Back from a week of camping in wet and windy cornwall where our tent blew down one night. Great fun apart from this, though the tent is a bit small now we have a toddler and bump and feeling knackered now from all the bending down to get into tent etc, hope that all my crawling around has done wonders for baby's position. Only 5 weeks left at work. Hurrah.

Re: grobags, last time we used a blanket to swaddle DS for the first few months which was great so he didn't thrash around and seemed snug without being hot. Also v cute.

Hersetta · 04/06/2007 08:57

Morning all ladies.

very busy weekend for me - felt like I was ironing all weekend, but we also managed to get out and buy the chest of drawers we needed for the baby's room and a bedding set for the cotbed we ordered last week which was a bargain as we got a line to be discontinued in babies are us (which is an exact match for the unusal shade of green that I have painted the nursery) and everything was less than half price - for example the curtains were 24.99 down to 7.99. Got matching nappy stacker and cot tidy, sheets, blanket and changing mat - now need to track down the illusive light shade!

MrsBadger · 04/06/2007 09:19

meant to back up jem1969's shopping tip - our TKMaxx has lots of grobags too at the moment, but they do state 'from 10lb' in no uncertain terms.

Hersetta · 04/06/2007 09:52

Forgot to say, has a look at my official growbag that I have for 0-6 (1 tog i believe) and it says that it is suitable for babies of 7lbs, 7oz and bigger. Not sure if this is because it's a light tog but that's definitely what it says on the reverse of the packaging.

Ceolas · 04/06/2007 09:54

I think there's a newborn size of grobag too.

Mine will probably be 10lbs at birth - last one was!

Hersetta · 04/06/2007 09:55

I've also got this

www.kiddicare.com/invt/xdlgrobagswad?D=grobag&Ntt=grobag&Ntk=primary&N=0

from kiddicare - a growbag swaddling blanket - looks dead cute. Will probably use this before turning to proper growbag.

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 10:11

Morning all.
Welcome back Mrs B! Wondered where you'd got to. A holiday sounds just the ticket right now.

I spent (nearly) the entire weekend sleeping - can't believe how tired I am! Managed to get some housework and loads of washing done but apart from that didn't leave the house other than to sit in the garden. Hoping it's not due to lack of iron but I guess my blood test results should tell if I'm needing more! Had a big steak last night (sorry to any veggies) which is unusual for me as I normally just go for white meat and fish. Will keep eating loads of brocolli in the meantime too!!

Growingbagpuss and Loler -my DH still has his 2-seater although he has ordered a new company car which won't be ready until September!! He has assured me that the dealership are giving him another car to use for August - it's not just the fact that you can't get a babyseat in the back, it's more to do with me not being able to haul myself in and out of the bloody thing anymore - and I've told him that there's no way I'm travelling to hospital in labour in a sports car!!!!!!!!!!! (I think I made my point pretty clear).

I'm also struggling to fit into my maternity clothes now too - especially my jeans. Quite reluctant to buy any more so trying to make do with smock tops over leggings atm - at least they're fairly cheap!

growingbagpuss · 04/06/2007 10:17

All this talk of equipment is so making me chuckle....we have just filed our final plans to the architect for the baby's bedroom.... it just fits into permitted dev' so we don't need planning permission - but I can still see myself b/feeding with builders everywhere and..... the bathroom is being ripped out as part of the plans.......

Most of our baby kit is at my Mum's in Bristol.... not many w/e with no plans, or not working for me to get there to pick things up... like first size car seat.... (!!!)

DS is on a limited life expectancy today - he got up screaming for Dadd, and r efused to sit on the toilet for me... so DH came upstairs and gave him lots of cuddles ... but then realised that wasn't going to help. He went eventually for me, and then screamed in his room until DH was nice to him again.

To top it all, DH then asked me if it was going to be safe to leave DS with me for the day - as clearly the screaming is about me, not him....... I nearly got dressed and walked out.

Think this might need a new thread "Forget about Child development... this is husband/ partner development"....

growingbagpuss · 04/06/2007 10:21

Babylovesmuffins -we are going to France next week - in a Porsche 911 (it was my Dad's) - Ds in back in car seat, me, wedged in front.... think I should take my green book and labour stuff just in case???

Don't stand a hope on the new m/bike issue...its his last stand on youth (he's +++older than me) - and frankly I think 2nd time fatherhood scares the s**t out of him. Actually.... IT DOES ME TOO!!

tokentotty · 04/06/2007 10:38

Hahahah have spent all yesterday looking at new cars as getting in and out of my conv sports BMW is not getting easier....not an attractive look at all !
Growingbagpuss, I hear you on the building scenario although not as much needs doing for us, but you can work out that we're not exactly that organised on the nursery front from previous posts. Having said that we've finally bought Peanut some 'stuff' !! Got my pram/buggy with all the bits and pieces, the car seat and furniture for the nursery. Talk about a bargain, Mamas & Papas Cot bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers/changer unit only £480 - was very happy with that to be honest.

Tell us more about your narrowboat holiday MrsB, I think it sounds fabulous

growingbagpuss · 04/06/2007 10:40

yes... but a great car... gosh if i had one of them I woldn't have got pregnant!!!

MrsBadger · 04/06/2007 10:46

Oh it was - even when it was raining it was lovely as you just moor up, turn on the heating and put the kettle on.
Beats camping all hollow, I can tell you, and they only go at max 4mph so even I can drive one.
Oodles of birds and wildlife including a ridiculously picturesque heron.

The fact it's PIL's boat and therefore free (so long as we fill up with diesel afterwards) makes it even better. Just have to work out how to take a crawling 9mo next year without anyone drowning...

tokentotty · 04/06/2007 10:59

Oh MrsB....that just looks completely idyllic...sigh.....have come over all proud of the UK's loveliness looking at those pics. (although the heron pic was you driving (?) the boat again)
Yeah Growing, am absolutely gutted to lose my car I have to admit. Although, have had it six years since new so shouldn't complain. Was the first really nice thing I'd ever had in my life and meant so much to me. Still love it but hey ho, not prepared to drive Peanut around in a convertible car no matter how safe they tell me is it !

treacletart · 04/06/2007 10:59

Oh it looks blissfull! do they let it out?

stretchmarks · 04/06/2007 11:00

HI All,

Managed to skim through and catch up but can't remember anything brain really is mush now. We had a week away in North Norfolk last week which was lovely although far too many nice deli's and restaurants have ensured that I now do feel well and truly huge !!!!!!!

LOL at all this sports car talk - when I was pregnant with DS1 we bought a sensible family saloon so at the same time I changed my sensible golf for a sports car whilst pregnant felt it was my last chance soon came to realise once baby had arrived that you can't leave home without loads of equipment we are now very much with the family estate cars although we fill this with 3 of us don't know how we'd ever get on holiday with 4 of us probably have to take both cars

Babylovesmuffins · 04/06/2007 11:27

Growingbagpuss sounds like you have your hands full today!! Good luck! France sounds great - I'd bring my green book just in case!!! (If there's room for it )
