I’m creating this thread so that we can continue the October 2018 baby bus. Only one page left on ours and once it completes we can’t share this link so getting this done now .... all aboard!

I'll be 29 weeks on Monday. They scanned and she is a little large but nothing unusual, 68th centile. Normal amount of water. I guess I'm just a massive fatty! Possibly the fundal measurements are out because she said my jeans seam was in the way. (Kidding myself, I'm just huge!)

Filzma · 13/07/2018 18:43

Whoa @ladydolly!! 6 weeks. I wouldn't mind tbh, unless there's health implications. Would save me a month and half of being uncomfortable.

I have my scan coming up next week and feel really massive. This is how I felt at the end of my last pregnancy. Worried about the baby's weight and whether I'll get to the end way bigger than this.

Apparently sugars/carbs are absorbed directly to baby's bloodstream and could mean a bigger baby. I'm hopeless with anything sweet lately.

Havetothink · 13/07/2018 19:07

Unfortunately I don't think measuring big necessarily means having baby earlier, but please tell me I'm wrong, I get measured for the first time next week and I'm sure I'm massive.

@Milknosugar1 Ahahha, you're my people. You've reminded me of my secret Jaffa cake stash. Off to make a cuppa. Brew

@Milknosugar1 very cheeky indeed 😂😂 I haven't had polenta cake in ages!!!! I've already kicked DH to the spare bed, I'm that uncomfortable, can you believe. So anyway, he doesn't have to deal with the filth on the bed. I don't know where the crumbs begin and my body ends. 🤦‍♀️

Hayleyxmx · 14/07/2018 11:47

For the first time in my life iv been put on a strict diet by the doctor I’m 27weeks and gone from 52.2kg to 64.5kg. I thought my pregnancy was going to well I don’t have any of the symptoms you ladies have, no swelling and I can sleep a good 8/9 hours every night I don’t go the toilet constantly.... but I’m 3kg now from being obese according to my doctor today 😆 iv only gone from a size 8 to a 12 on my bottoms Still an 8-10 up top 🙈

RhiBee29 · 14/07/2018 13:06

I feel massive this time, I'm wearing the jeans i wore when I was in labour with DS and I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow. I was told that DS was likely to be 8lb+ but was 6lb 6oz so I know it's my big fat belly and not baby. A week in France eating ice cream, pastries and fries hasn't helped but I've had a fab time!

Just a tip The Essential One website is fab, currently 75% sale on and the quality is outstanding, I've bought 5 vests, 2 sleep suits and preggo pj's for the hospital bag for £30!

@Milknosugar1 I can’t have any fast food, bread, potatoes or rice. I’m now on eggs grilled chicken, fish, vegetables and salad and now only water. Snacks I can have fruit. I thought it was a bit crazy I don’t look over weight, just look like I have swallowed a football I thought I had a neat little bump. But he said I have gained the weight I should have gained at full term so with 13 weeks to go he doesn’t want me to get any bigger 🤔

TinyTerror1 · 14/07/2018 14:47

Hayley that sounds very odd making you cut out all carbs like that. Are you in the UK? Anything up to around 17kg isn't usually a concern, in fact normally doctors don't even weigh you unless you were obese to start with.

@Milknosugar1 thanks for asking, it's going ok. I've been having to monitor my levels since Wednesday and in spite of moving house yesterday I've been managing fairly well. And hooray we're in the new house so I can finally start getting baby stuff! 28 weeks tomorrow so I was getting a bit antsy 😬 plus I would not have wanted to be any bigger for the move itself, cleaning was such hard work.
Sorry to hear your pain is back. It must be so difficult for you. I'm always impressed by your positive attitude xx

RhiBee29 · 15/07/2018 10:11

Anyone had their 25wk appt with Midwife? I didn't think I'd get one as it's my 2nd but she wants to see me. Is it worth DH attending?

justtowarm · 15/07/2018 10:28

I've had mine @RhiBee29. This is my second but they want to see me like it's my first due to all the complications and because I pre eclampsia with my first.

My partner didn't come, but he attended the first midwife appointment (and the ones where there have been pressing concerns).

He saves his time off for the scans and consultant appointments after them :)

Also just wanted to say I'm sitting here enjoying so so many lovely strong kicks now :) my whole tummy is moving around :) it's such a lovely feeling... I have a work deadline though and it's very distracting 😂🙈

TinyTerror1 · 15/07/2018 11:10

RhiBee - Yes, there wasn't much to it, just blood pressure, urine and got to listen to baby's heartbeat. I think you'd have your fundal height checked too normally, but I'm scheduled for growth scans so they aren't doing fundal height to avoid confusion. No reason for DH to go along especially if he'd need time off for it.

justtowarm it is lovely isn't it? Smile I'm 28 weeks now and baby has been giving me a good booting for a few weeks. She seemed particularly active during the football matches, funnily enough Grin

RhiBee29 · 15/07/2018 11:34

Thanks, DS has his pre-school graduation on Tuesday so DH will use his time off for that instead.

Havetothink · 15/07/2018 13:12

I had one at 24 weeks even though it's my second, they didn't say there was any reasons for it just seem to be running the same routine as last time. They didn't measure, I was told they wouldn't until 28 weeks. Baby did give the student midwife a good kick, she said 'ooh you can see it can't you'. Got my next one this week and I imagine it will kick her again as it goes mad anytime I lie down.
Also got the whooping cough vaccine to look forward to, can't decide which arm to use as that one left a painful lump last time and I couldn't sleep on it for days afterwards.

Milknosugar no changes so far except perhaps eating my sweet treats with meals rather than between. I've eaten out every night so far because of the football/moving and even then the readings have been ok. Except I just had a whole pizza for lunch and that turns out to be bad but I'm not surprised, I was deliberately pushing it to see what happened 😏 (I had fish and chips last night and curry on Thursday and they were both fine 🤔)

Deedeejanuary · 16/07/2018 07:39

Hi there! I’m posting here for the first time. Due 28th October with our second little girl. Have felt pretty rough the first few months but definitely feeling better. Is there a Facebook group too?

LookingAtTheStars89 · 16/07/2018 13:11

@Honeycake86. I don't know if you're still about on here bit I just wondered how you were doing? x

caoraich · 16/07/2018 13:45

Hayley that sounds really tough, how are you getting on?

I'm getting lots of kicks too, odd but nice!

As a first time mum I'm not sure how feasible this is, wondering what you ladies think - my many child free friends all think it'll be fine but I'm not so sure:
I'm due 17th October. I was born 2 weeks early but I know that doesn't mean much!
We've been invited to a wedding on the 9th of December, close friends and we'd like to go. They've said that new baby would be very welcome.

We live in Glasgow and wedding is in Belfast. We have taken the ferry over there a few times, but would usually fly. If we did go, we'd take the ferry and probably try and fit in a visit to Dublin to see OH's mum before Christmas - there's no chance she'd visit us over here and we'd like her to meet LO.

However I know baby might be late / there might be complications and I don't want to commit if we'd have to back out at last min! Is it totally unrealistic to consider wedding + trip to Dublin + trip home with potentially a 5 wk old (if she's late)? Tying myself in knots over this!

ladydolly · 16/07/2018 13:51

I'll ask the fb group admin to pop over here to invite those of you still interested.

I don't think my last post worked, but sorry if I'm repeating myself. Measuring big doesn't mean baby is likely to come earlier but I'm scheduled for a section at 39 weeks and if she was measuring really big (like 6 weeks bigger!) they might have brought it forward a week or 2.

Welcome @deedee - how old is your first dd?

Hayleyxmx · 16/07/2018 13:57

@TinyTerror1 yes was my English doctor I’m still a bit taken a back by it I have my 28week appointment with my midwife next week so will speak to her getting my anti D injection aswell should be fun. 🙂

@caoraich struggling a little bit with the food I’m so British when it comes to eating I’m a meat and potatoes type of girl. But luckily with the hot weather iv been ok with the salads and grilled salmon and chicken. I would kill for a cheeseburger and large fries though 😝. I was a month premature and my partner was a 7 month baby I have a strange feeling I’m going to go early, they always say a mothers instinct is always right so maybe you baby might come a little early then I’m sure you will be fine with all your plans 🙂
