I’m creating this thread so that we can continue the October 2018 baby bus. Only one page left on ours and once it completes we can’t share this link so getting this done now .... all aboard!

@unicornchaser I’m positive that however you feel you look is nothing like what you actually look like. I think it’s very easy to feel self conscious and gross as your body changes rapidly and you feel like you’re losing control of it and don’t recognise it. Have you tried different shops to get a few different styles? There will be something you feel comfortable in I’m sure. Once you’ve found that style you can look for other things that are similar and stock up on the same length/sleeves/neckline or whatever it is you find that you feel happy in. I’m sure you look beautiful and if you can’t see it yourself then make sure your partner tells you :) and if that fails I’ve found the whole ‘remember what an amazing thing is happening in your body’ thing has worked once or twice. And once or twice I’ve wanted to punch someone who has said that, so take that with a pinch of salt if you need to.

@milk thank you for the rocker info, sounds like you’re in to the bargain hunting too. I will scout around and see what I can find. One in the living room and one in spoon playing escapist’s room sounds like a great shout. Then night time and Netflix time is all covered.

Absolutely, I’d be happy to share it. Are you happy to send me your email address as a PM and I’ll send it over tomorrow once I’ve taken my friend’s most intimate notes out? Grin

Thanks for being lovely ladies! I am refusing to spend a fortune so I have managed to salvage a pair of trousers and couple of tops from my normal holiday wardrobe and a few beach cover ups. Think I will try and get a few dresses and couple pairs of shorts and just make do with them!
Looked out my stepsons stuff and wishing adults could get the expandable waist that kids get on their trousers/shorts! Would be a dream!

Glad you have found an improvement @EffRam! I have been a bit flakey with my pelvic floors but really should step it up a bit!

The rockers sound great! I had forgot my sister having one of those but now you have reminded me and how much she loved having hers, I may look into one too.

I resisted the malteasers. Had a couple biscuits & moams instead 🙈
Bought a load of salad stuff for the weeks lunches though, a couple of weeks of healthy eating before the holiday will hopefully make me feel better!

ATP1000 · 17/06/2018 18:26

Hi everyone, I’m getting one solid kick very randomly, only had 3 solid ones so far then lots of wriggling which feels like a giant worm is passing through my womb! Very strange feeling! I’m 22 weeks.

I’ve started with a fairly strong pain on my right hand side this week, it wraps around from my kidney to my belly button and down to my groin on that side. It’s uncomfortable and is making it hard to sleep. Has anyone else had this? It feels a bit more than ligament pain but I don’t know as this is my first baby.

Only other notable symptom is being tired all the time and now I’m not able to sleep as easily as before!

I got some holiday clothes from jojomamabebe, the blue patterned jumpsuit is nice but the waist band doesn’t have give and it has to go over my bum to get it on!I’m thinking how I can make it elastic. I got a 16 whereas normally I’d be 14 in maternity. I was a size 10 last year so I feel the pain of everyone else feeling out of control of their body and not themselves at the moment.

Also their pencil skirt for work is really good, it’s lined and doesn’t cling which makes a nice change for maternity clothes!

@Milknosugar1 omg I feel the same about the hair - I'm naturally very fair and it's like sparkly fur!! My OH mentioned that there was a long blonde one on my chin that I hadn't noticed. Was mortified! Tweezers have now had a good outing.

@ATP1000 Ive had a similar pain too. Mine eases off when I lie on the left side or try and stretch out a bit. I'm hoping that the pregnancy yoga will help when I start it, I do think it's just ligament pain as still getting lots of baby movements but if yours is really bad might be worth asking midwife?

Not sure if it's already been mentioned on here but I joined the Boots parenting club and it's been really good. I tend to use Boots a lot as there's one locally and they do the shampoo I like. But with the parenting club you get 10 points for every £1 you spend on mum/baby stuff plus targeted vouchers. Yesterday got money off a steriliser and electric breast pump plus some free vitamins. It came to £15 direct savings and cos they were having a points event I also got £20 worth of points on my advantage card too, which I'll definitely spend. Was quite impressed!

Have been on-call for work though today and really struggling. I do my on-call from home covering lots of hospitals in approx a 10 mile radius and usually cope fine dotting between them all and snacking in the car when I can. Was out from 9am and got home at 6pm having not eaten except for an apple and a yoghurt and I am so much more wrecked than I'd usually be. Feeling really shaky and woozy. We are meant to have a pregnancy risk assessment but because by their nature the on-calls aren't where I do my "day job", no-one can figure out who should do it. Typical. Confused
How's everyone else coping with work?

Had a very freaky thing yesterday eve, had come back from hols and was reading posts on here and they weren’t making sense. Ie, words were swimming all round and basic words weren’t going in and I couldn’t remember basic country names. Grabbed my partner and promptly had panic attack, blurred vision and hyperventilation. 4 hours later at a&e had some blood tests and all looked ok but waiting on a TIA appt to see if it could be related to stroke/tia. Freaky as hell and hoping it was more related to getting 3 hours kip the night before and not eating as regularly as I should have done yesterday.

Sorry to vent..😬 hope you are all doing better!

ATP1000 · 17/06/2018 22:08

Oh no @Belles86 that sounds very scary, I hope it was lack of food and not a TIA. Well done getting to the hospital and getting seen to quickly, that was definitely the right thing to do. I hope you get some results soon.

Thanks @caoraich being on my side helps too, so I ice my back. You’d think that would tense it up but it makes it feel better so I’ll keep doing it. I’m in at the osteopath this week so hopefully she can help. Just to have it ease off for a few hours would be nice so I can rest.

I guess the aches and pains get worse from here now. My ribs have already expanded a lot although I’m grateful that acid reflux is minimal, the baby is sitting high so I could have that at the moment but not yet!!

Belles86 · 17/06/2018 22:36

@ATP1000 thanks v much! Yep likewise, and luckily hospital is only 10 mins down the road.

On the plus side, it’s nice that we mostly seem to be having movements now! Noticed that she’s a wriggly little ninja as soon as bedtime comes 😂

River93 · 18/06/2018 07:29

caoraich I’m in a similar position! My manager is office based but my role I visit various types of establishments where I could potentially come into contact with things like MRSA/C Diff. Obviously my manager can’t do the risk assessment as these various locations aren’t where she’s based. So should the manager of each establishment be doing a risk assessment upon my visit?!

ATP1000 · 18/06/2018 12:13

@river93 I would say yes, there should be a standard pregnancy risk assessment for each location. I worked in a lab and had to switch amongst different labs on a daily basis, each one had different chemical and infection risks and each one had to label these clearly on fridge doors/ cupboards/ incubators when one of the ladies was pregnant. Really things should be permanently made clear given most women don’t know they’re pregnant early on or aren’t ready to say.
Go by the book if you can and all the women will benefit in the future. If blazing a trail is too high risk then just be super careful about your own health, it sounds like you already know the risks and what to look out for.

This belt is apparently approved by the NHS, I’ve seen other reviews of NHS belts which also say how painful they are and that you can’t sit down. Maybe this one is less severe?
I’ve also seen reviews suggesting wearing the belt over a belly wrap, Amazon do long length wraps which go down to thigh level which might save your skin a bit @milknosugar1.
My side, back and hip is also hurting a lot, I’ve ordered one from Amazon I will post the link too. I’m sorry you’re in so much pain.

betteryou.com/magnesium-oil-original-spray

I’m looking into this product too. Magnesium oil is meant to help with cramps but make sure to get the plain oil without any essential oils added. I have not checked this product with my midwife yet but will do as it’d be great if it relieved some of my ligament pain.

This is the one I have. To be fair you pain sounds worse than mine. Mine is aggravated mostly by driving and bad sleep position at the moment but I knew what to watch out for and am being extra paranoid because of last time I know how bad it can get and worse. I've been doing the targeted exercises too. I like to think that they are helping. The belt does sound very tight.

I wonder if the code would work on the Irish mothercare site? I'd like to place an order. Fingers crossed that something I have my eye on is in the sale though that would be nice. Can't get onto the preview so will wait until tomorrow.

TinyTerror1 · 19/06/2018 11:45

Hi everyone. I'm not doing well at checking in here. I managed to join the last thread just as you all switched to this one! I'm having a girl, due 7th October so I'm 24+2. Baby is a proper wriggler (and has a boot like a pro footballer!) although I haven't felt any hiccups yet - not sure if that is what someone was describing a few posts ago?

You're all very organised buying stuff already! I've been making lists like there's no tomorrow but I'm in the process of moving house (hopefully in the next 4 weeks) so I can't buy anything yet Envy Sounds like I ought to sign up for some of these baby clubs for offers though.

Milknosugar sorry to hear about your pain, that sounds really bad Flowers I've been getting some hip pain from lying on my side in bed and really hoping it doesn't get worse. It's so hard to know what the best thing for it is.

ATP1000 · 19/06/2018 12:38

I tried the magnesium oil spray last night. Still haven’t got the ok from midwife but the manufacturer says it’s fine on their website and I was in so much pain. Took about 5 minutes for the muscle pain to subside and I slept relatively well. It’s honestly made a difference. I’m only using a tiny amount, 3 sprays and only where it hurts just in case but thought I’d share.
I am at the osteopath @milknosugar1 I over stretched my sacroiliac joint at 12 weeks by doing gentle yoga but it wasn’t antenatal. I’ve been at the osteopath ever since! I could barely walk at one point. It is helping, she is realigning my hip down to my toes on the right hand side. Also doing my neck as I was getting very bad migraines around 14 weeks. It has been expensive but worth it. If you’re in London it’s Heather Gibson in Marylebone. She specialises in pregnancy.

OP posts:
ATP1000 · 19/06/2018 12:42

The osteopath has been taping my back/hips around the joint and said she could do my stomach when it gets bigger if needed. This also helps, you can get some pretty firm tape so maybe that is worth investigating.

Also @milk no one should EVER eat a pregnant ladies lunch!! He needs to get the batch cooking on the go this evening to make up for it! 😣

ATP1000 · 19/06/2018 17:33

Update from midwife is not to exceed daily magnesium limit if already taking a multivit. I don’t know how to work out how much is in a spray but it has worked again today so I’m going to keep going when needed but only small amounts.
