I’m creating this thread so that we can continue the October 2018 baby bus. Only one page left on ours and once it completes we can’t share this link so getting this done now .... all aboard!

On the holiday front, I can confirm that preggo skin burns a lot easier than it did. (Ouch!) also, I’m wearing a black sports bra (and styling it out as a bikini top) with a size up in bikini bottoms. Also; Asda have nice flattering maternity swimsuits too.
Was a bit surprised/disappointed with lack of maternity bikini’s. Or maybe that just doesn’t need to be a thing.. 🤔

Hayleyxmx · 14/06/2018 09:40

I’m currently in turkey I went for triangle bikini easy to re-adjust I just sized up in bottoms from 8 to 10 and size 14 for top as they just keep getting bigger and bigger 🙈 top shop and river island had some nice ones in the sale 🙌🏻

unicornchaser · 14/06/2018 09:54

Defo looking at swimsuits as being a 34FF/G currently I don't think a bikini top is going to cope with the strain 🤣
I saw Asda had some nice ones for about £15 so think I will get a couple from there and just wash & wear in rotation for the week!
Need to find some nice maternity or stretchy waist/loose leg shorts & linen style trousers too I think 🤔 hoping primark will be my friend as I'm not going to spend a lot on fatty holiday clothes!

caoraich · 14/06/2018 10:05

I got a maternity tankini from ASOS that has been really good. Went a size up and it has kept the scarily expanding boobs (34G now Shock ) in check. Also less wrangling to pee than a swimsuit which was handy! I'd normally wear a bikini but I was worried about getting burned. Unfortunately discovered that as well as being more sensitive to the sun, am now allergic to soltan! Hope that helps your shopping ladies Smile

Oh good point about the wrangling in and out @caoraich! Will go and look at tankinis too now!

ladydolly · 14/06/2018 11:06

Great tips @milk.

I got bikini bottoms a size up from m&s, they are the roll down top ones so v handy for covering and uncovering bump. I also just bought a non maternity bikini top. I have huge norks anyway so all my tops are underwired so had to get a new one. Asos do maternity swimwear. I also have an asda one that I love. If you have the cash and want to invest figleaves also have lovely ones.

It's hard with the groups isn't it? First time around I had a lot of friends off at the same time as me but outside of that I found it hard to find my 'tribe'. I'm quite confident wirh new people so just babygroup shopped by trying them all out in my area. I could normally suss out the mums on my wavelength pretty quick by how precious they were about their baby getting dirty/how loudly they talked about push presents/how many biscuits they ate. I met my best mum friend at a group when we caught each other eye rolling the volunteers who kept slipping religion into the conversation (she was lovely but a bit full on).
I flipping HATE when women talk about how awful childbirth is to pregnant women! Look how many women do it/have done it. It can't be that bad!! It's just not helpful. Although I do often warn close friends about the first poo post birth because that took me by surprise, not because it was bad but because of the surprise element.

lovesrunning · 14/06/2018 15:20

Hi lovely ladies, I’ve not been on for a while but it’s really nice catching up with all your news and hearing about all the scans. Not so good to hear about the hip, back and arse pain though, although I have to say you seem a glass-half-full person, @milk - I’m sure if anyone can ride this out with a smile on their face and a sense of humour it’s you. My heart goes out to anyone suffering though; it’s beginning to feel old-woman-ish enough without complications.

I also saw a nice maternity swimsuit on ASOS the other day and they are having a sale - 30% off everything if you type ALL30 in the discount code box I believe. Well, hopefully the sale is still on because I got distracted and forgot to check out.

I’ve also got a couple of mum friends who enjoy telling me the nasties associated with childbirth. It’s not fun! Having said that, I definitely want to hear ALL about this first poo! I have three close friends from work also pregnant at the same time so that’s been really nice going through it together. Two of them have kids already so know a bit what they’re talking about.

I’m struggling with the heat now. It’s over 40 degrees now in the day time where I live and it’s getting unbearable. When I get in my car after work it’s literally the same feeling as getting in a sauna. I’ve decided to stay indoors as much as I can until I come home in a few weeks.

Some lovely Father’s Day ideas - lucky men you have, I haven’t done anything for mine :-/ he did feel his first kick the other day though so that was excitement enough!

sparkling123 · 14/06/2018 23:10

@lovesrunning it's not been too hot where I am but defo noticed I'm feeling the heat more now and am drinking sooo much water @RhiBee29 I have anterior placenta too, the midwife told me to only really worry about movements after 25 weeks as baby is one) kicking placenta two) still getting into a regular routine and comfy space at 21 weeks. So basically her advice was to give it a little time as before 25 weeks it can vary but if I was worried to go in as they would rather check than not. Hope this helps.

RhiBee29 · 15/06/2018 06:45

Thanks @sparkling123 that's really helpful, Baby was kicking up a storm last night which was lovely. I think I have a nocturnal one!

Finally called time on my non-preggo work wardrobe today, even my loosest top wouldn't go on.

Holiday in 3 weeks for me. Not so relaxing with a 3 year old on a French campsite though. We're on a mini-break at Thomas Land this weekend, looking forward to being the designated bag holder and sitting in a bench eating ice creams whilst DH (who hates rides) takes charge of DS Grin

unicornchaser · 15/06/2018 14:14

Has anyone had a cold yet while pregnant? I'm really suffering but don't know why I can actually take to help aside from vitamin c & paracetamol?

Thanks @milk, will try the steam.
I know all the cold remedies are a placebo but it tricks me enough into feeling a bit better when I can take them!

Feel better soon @unicorn.

Has anyone has leg and foot cramps in the night? I read you can take extra magnesium, has anyone tried it?

Awe @unicorn that is a pity. I haven't had one this time thankfully. Try get plenty of warm drinks into you as well I find that helps. Even warm ribena made with boiled water.

I was out walking around the shops this morning for about an hour tops i think and my pelvis is really feeling it now. I also ate too much for lunch and I feel like I could burst open Grin I don't think I'd survive in a standing job right now Blush

@rhibee29 France will be lovely. Anywhere that isnt your own house is my motto.im counting down to the holidays too. Must try get some clothes. I did pick up two tops today hopefully they will get me another few weeks of wear. Really jusy avoiding most things maternity.

Bought some bibs and a babygro for the little man too

EffRam · 16/06/2018 08:54

Hello all, didn't realise the thread had fallen off my watch list, thought you had all been v quiet!!

It's good to catch up and hear everyone is doing well bar the hip pain...

Baby kicks loads now. Days I'm stationary at s desk I feel them most of the day. When I'm up and out and about I only feel them at night when I get into bed. I'm feeling really well though and so appreciating every moment, glad I've made it to halfway without ailments so feel like anything from now on I can't complain as I've been so lucky!

although it's been a busy week and so completely exhausted. I sing in a choir and came VERY close to nodding off during the practice on Thursday Eve! But managed a full night's sleep last night and didn't even have to get up for a wee, absolute result, I feel like new! Can't remember the last time I slept through.

I've started to get a really sore coccyx and achey lower back on one side, I think from lots of sitting both at a desk and in schools on tiny chairs (I'm collecting data for a research project so testing children at the mo, as well as writing up some chapters for a deadline) but I've just got a gym/birthing ball and oh my days it's so comfy. I'm actually looking forward to working today as I'll get to sit on it!

Before that though have to clear out our cellar. When we moved in we shoved all the boxes we couldn't be bothered to unpack down there. Recently realised it's really damp so think they've all gone mouldy so need to decant anything salvageable into plastic boxes. Next doors cats have also caught loads of rats in last fortnight so I'm scared they're down there. Not looking forward to it! And I'm missing my yoga class to do it :'( as it's the only time my husband is also free, and we are both grumpy about having to do it.we shouldn't have been so lazy and stupid about it in November though I know!

will be doing some yoga with Adriene to make it up!

Ooh rocking chair?! Tell me more! I’m in the market for one currently.

In fact, I feel a bit more ‘on it’ since my friend sent me a 204 line spreadsheet of stuff we might need and her notes on what we definitely need and what we might be able to do without. I’m viewing it as a giant challenge Annika style project. So far I’ve sourced a nearly-new next to me crib for 30% of its original price and a high chair (yes, I know, slightly ahead of the game..) for a fraction of the retail price which has been hardly used. I also got some ridiculously cute outfits (picture leggings with unicorns on them- and I don’t even like unicorns) from Sainsbury’s and Next online. I mean, that’s it so far. I haven’t even considered prams, but I’ve made a start and I feel ‘in control’ for the time being.

@twobambinos sounds like you need an epic sit down!

@effRam I’m intimidated by your productivity! Did you find rats?

@milk I haven’t had those - I’m still getting the singular prods a few seconds apart. Sounds quite exciting though - do you think he/she might be hatching an escape plan involving spoons? Or perhaps is going to be a drummer? Or the next Michael Flatley?

Urgh sorry all need to moan!
Just tried on a load of holiday clothes and just made me utterly miserable! I do not have a nice pregnancy shape at all 😩 I am not one of these lucky ones that suits it! Don't know if I'm too chunky or its cos my boobs are basically 2 volcanoes now but it's not pleasant.
I have some actual maternity holiday stuff coming so I'm hoping that's a bit more flattering on me.

Must fight the urge to eat the share bag of malteasers in pity and make it all 10 times worse!

EffRam · 17/06/2018 14:42

@unicornchaser eat the malteasers! It will make me feel better about having just scoffed two jam doughnuts... baby loves doughnuts :/

I am avoiding the holiday clothes thing until nearer the time, I had imagined that I could just wear my lovely floating maxi dresses but in the last hot spell I tried them on - no, no I can't. Even my incredibly sweet husband who does not care a jot about clothes hesitated and pulled a face! I'm planning to do a shop just before when I know what size I am and hopefully just get 2 or 3 staple dresses and just wear them the whole time!

On the whole, I've just enjoyed watching my shape change and knowing it's because of a tiny baby but I did have my first proper wobble earlier. I am a bridesmaid next March, and my friend sent me a message this morning saying she is going to order the dresses before the baby is here due to time, she had wanted to wait until after but her mum said that wouldn't be long enough. As a result she wants me to guess what size I'll be then get it fitted after. I just have no idea, and it made me realise I'm v accepting of my body at the moment but I think I will find it much, much harder when there is no baby in there and it's just empty tummy...

twobambinos · 17/06/2018 15:08

Another one saying eat the malteasers. At least you will enjoy them.

I spent some of the morning going through my wardrobe. In general I really need to cut down on the amount of stuff I have but I do not know where to start. Will also struggle with the holiday wardrobe but I'm thinking maybe two kaftans and two bikinis will get me through the daytime and a couple of loose dresses for the evenings I'm for once not going to go overboard. I don't plan to be pregnant ever again so hoping to clear out these bigger clothes fairly soon.

@effram how did your clear out go? We must start on the spare room one of these days the baby will be going in the nursery and DD will be getting the spare room. Minor redecorating required that way. Just some new accessories I think.

Feel like I have spent the entire day eating rubbish Blush

twobambinos · 17/06/2018 15:10

@milknosugar1 I have that sensation too I dunno what he is up to but it feels like he is taking over my whole middle section now. It will be interesting to see how big he is measuring on the scan this week because it feels like a full term baby in there Hmm
