I’m creating this thread so that we can continue the October 2018 baby bus. Only one page left on ours and once it completes we can’t share this link so getting this done now .... all aboard!

Hi @Milknosugar1 I was diagnosed with spd in my first pregnancy, and where my pelvis had separated it has also gone nicely out of alignment, or as the physio stated it's completely lopsided 🙈 You don't have to just let it happen. I got mine really early and was told to expect to need crutches as a minimum. The physiotherapist was amazing. She did manual therapy for as long as she could (eventually my son just held my pelvis in a dodgy position) and it was an amazing relief, I could literally feel my pelvis shift position as she did it. I'm also convinced the exercises she gave me (which I did religiously) really prevented me from becoming immobile. I could still move around at the end. I just couldn't walk very far or sit for long periods.

If they offer you a support belt mine helped a little bit but was so uncomfortable I just gave up with it.

I have had mild pains this time but they are only just kicking in now really and only if I overdo it :) the worst is nighttime!

On the plus side the pain was completely gone by the time of left hospital (5 days) :)

@Milknosugar1 😂 love how so many people are 'experts' on pregnancy... My internal eye roll has been in overdrive since getting pregnant, so much unsolicited (and usually nonsense) advice!

unicornchaser · 12/06/2018 11:45

20 week scan all went well and baby is all looking anatomically healthy can't believe that's half way now!
Can't provide any insight to the MATB1, I've just been told my contract is ending this month, 15 days before the mat pay qualification week hope you find the answer though @RhiBee29

Anyone know about the baby box? I got told at booking that I give the form in at my 20 week appointment but they said at the scan they don't take it? Should it be the midwife who I will finally meet at 26 weeks that takes it?

2ndPGchimp · 12/06/2018 17:00

@Milknosugar1 that is so unbelievably rude and uncalled for! Some people just don't have a filter!

On the MATB1 form. Employers require it at 15 weeks before your expected week of childbirth, Hale next st 25 weeks. My midwife arranged a special appointment at 25 weeks so that I would get it and I checked with my employer that sending it the next day is good enough.

2ndPGchimp · 12/06/2018 17:01

@unicornchaser I am pleased to hear about the positive scan, but less so about the contract. Did you know it was on the cards?

unicornchaser · 12/06/2018 18:05

To an extent @2ndPGchimp, I knew I was fixed term but always assured it would go to a permanent contract which I even interviewed for, but 2 days post interview they decided to pull the job due to lack of current workload. The whole department knows with absolute certainty that the workload will pick up and my job will be required again in a couple of months but they have just said they will recruit again at that time. Can't help but think the way they are going about it is largely down to knowing I won't be there for the best part of a year come October!

Hayleyxmx · 12/06/2018 18:50

@unicornchaser how awful, I have had to stop my job because of pregnancy. If you don’t qualify for maternity pay You will be able to claim maternity allowance if you have worked 13 weeks in the last year it’s not much about £143 a week but at least it’s something

RhiBee29 · 12/06/2018 20:32

Midwife called me back, I'm collecting the MATB1 on Thursday 👍🏼

Does anyone else have an anterior placenta? The lack of movement is so hard to deal with, I'm trying to remind myself that's its normal and movement won't be felt for a few weeks yet. I get the odd kick & flutter but nothing much.

unicornchaser · 12/06/2018 20:48

Yeah @Hayleyxmx I will get the allowance it's just a bit rubbish to not get the extra bit of maternity pay after working with this company a year! I only left my last place (perm job id been in for 3 years) because I was all but promised a permanent job but hey ho, these things happen!
Were you finding the pregnancy was taking too much of an impact on you to continue working?

@rhi, I also have an anterior placenta which explains why I've not really felt anything in the way of movement yet since there is an extra layer of cushioning to get through! I don't expect to feel anything now for another few weeks!

RhiBee29 · 12/06/2018 21:20

@unicornchaser it's so frustrating I can't wait to have proper kicks. Sorry to hear about the job. Do you have a notice period or are you finishing soon?

@unicornchaser my job required me to relocate to a different country obviously not possible, so I had to resign. My company got away with it as my contract said I would remain flexible and relocate when asked 😔

@milknosugar yeah I have applied for maternity allowance £143 a week I qualify for not much but better than nothing luckily DP has a job that will cover me not working. But going from a workaholic to a housewife Isn’t doing my sanity any good 🤪

ladydolly · 13/06/2018 10:59

Hi all. Fell off the thread for a bit while I was away with work. My last overseas trip until after mat leave. I'm now on holiday and very much enjoying a bikini with bump body (no holding tummy in!). Although no wine at lunch is a bit tiresome.

My bump is very high, it was with my first as well and both girls. It does mean its rarely mistaken for bloat but it is very hars to hide. Not that I could now, I'm massive.

I always thought pgp and spd were the same thing. I have sciatica which the midwife thought was spd so I need to talk to her when I get back.

Baby was breech at my scan but turned a couple of weeks ago so I felt much more movement. She went a bit quiet the last 2 days and I realise she's back to breech as all big movements are very low or around my belly button.

unicornchaser · 13/06/2018 11:34

Oh that's horrid @Hayleyxmx, did they know you were pregnant before asking you to relocate? They always find a way out of things don't they!

Do you know with the maternity allowance, if I was to take a temporary job for 2 months, would that affect me getting MA? I qualify for it just now but I think I'll go crazy not working for the next 4 months till baby is here so was looking into temp working. But I don't want to risk losing my entitlement to MA but stopping & starting work? Can't get in to speak to citizens advice for a couple weeks and they are useless over the phone!

River93 · 13/06/2018 11:55

It’s a GIRL!! Flowers

Hayleyxmx · 13/06/2018 12:39

@River93 welcome to the 💕 club

@unicornchaser yeah they knew, you know what these large companies are like always trying to reshuffle and downsize staff anyway they can. After 5 years think they would show a bit of loyalty. But oh well nice career change when the baby is a bit older. My understanding of MA is you wouldn’t be affected I went to the job centre and was trying to find something part time to keep me sane still looking but the job centre staff where really helpful in explaining benefits think they knew I wasn’t being a benefit bum 😝

twobambinos · 13/06/2018 12:40

Just catching up fell off the thread for a while.
I am exhausted. I've slept for I'd say 14 of the last 15 hours Grin and still tired. Must get up and do something.

Sorry about the jobs @hayleyxmx and @unicornchaser. I have had my fill of uncertainty too on the job front and it still continues. I'm in Ireland though so it is a bit different here. Hopefully in the grand scheme of things all will work out. @unicorn did they give you all the proper notice it's a shame to miss out by such a small number of days maybe they aren't even aware?

@ladhdolly sounds amazing. Enjoy your holidays. We are going in 4 weeks i can't wait. Must try to sort out a bikini somehow ha ha. Have been searching for summer clothes and it won't be my most fashionable trip but I have a few bits that I will just have to make do now.

Congratulations on all the good scans recently. I have my next scan coming up in a week Cant wait to see how big the baby is estimated at. It feels like a bruiser at times. I Def think he is feet down anyway because I am getting serious kicks feels like a foot could pop out.

@milknosugar1 how are you now? I am armed with my support belt here and doing all the exercises I've been given and taking the recommended advice im going to put up a good fight against this spd as pp said.

Fell off the thread a wee bit too, glad to see everyone's scan news! Ours was a couple of weeks ago, thankfully all well and we went off on holidays the next day. I usually love the heat but was way too hot this time and spent most of it lolling about in the pool.

@unicornchaser that's rotten about your job!

I had a random midwife appt on the same day as my 20wk scan and she filled the baby box form out then and did my MATB1, so I reckon the box form will be done at your 26 week appt. It's just a wee form that you then have to post off yourself. I got a text message about a week after I posted it saying I am in the system and they'll text me again a week before it's delivered.

Bit of a random question but for the first time pregnancies do any of you have any in-real-life pregnant pals too? I have been added to a group chat with some girls I went to uni with who all live nearby, due within a few months of each other. There's 4 of us plus a few with small babies already. I thought it would be really nice having some mum pals I already know but I'm actually finding it a bit grim. Every few hours it's more messages about what pram/cot/etc. you should or shouldn't get, who's feeling the worst / feeling the most baby movements etc, and I'm finding it really overwhelming! Feel like I'm back in school and have accidentally joined the Mean Girls gang. Argh. It would be cutting my nose off to spite my face to just leave the group though, wouldn't it??

@Milknosugar1 yeah I think you're right, I'm hoping it will be different once we're all in the same boat. I've muted it but I have a few other chats on the go and whenever I open the app it's there with loads of unread messages! Current topic is subtle oneupmanship on whose babymoon holiday thing was the best Hmm

Meant to say poor you with the PGP also! Glad your physio was good though and your description of avoiding frozen ladyparts has given me a giggle while having a break at work!! I wonder if the person in the shop would be confused by a clearly pregnant woman buying condoms Grin

unicornchaser · 14/06/2018 07:47

Thanks @caoraich I think I will just need to get used to being a lady of leisure for a few months unless anything changes!

I'm not in any groups yet but I do have a few pals who have had babies in the last year, all oversharing some grim things far to much because 'I'll have it all to deal with soon' they don't get that I don't want to know until I need to! And one has me lined up to join her 'mummy pals' who go out to some activity or another almost daily. Not sure I'm quite the 'mummy pal' person but keeping an open mind for support!

Glad you had a nice holiday, albeit a bit hot! I'm off to tenerife in a fortnight and have a feeling I will be in a similar boat and just hide in the pool for a week! Without my cocktails SadSad

Trill27 · 14/06/2018 09:19

Oh god, I went out with three of my oldest friends a couple of weeks ago. Two of them have two children, and the other two of us have none (yet). The two with kids had quite a lot to drink and would not stop blurting out all the random and awful things that had happened to them in birth and afterwards. It was like they were competing to see who could get the worst reaction out of me. The funniest thing was that just as we were about to go home, the fourth friend, who had been quite quiet, admitted that she was pregnant too (which I was really pleased about)! She obviously didn't want the attack aimed at her too! I know they are just excited, but am hoping it's all out of their systems now...

But, on the positive side, I've been going to pregnancy yoga for a few weeks and have already met some nice girls who are local to me and due around the same time.

I'm going to Spain next week for a week. Tried on some of my old bikinis the other day, it was not pretty. I'm going to have to make do with the one maternity swimsuit I've bought, I think.
