Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 13:33

I feel a new thread title coming on... (well we are nearly 300 messages into this one on the first day!)

daisybump · 13/05/2007 13:43

...and they wonder why pandas are an endangered species....

Not having nachos......no bloody tortilla chips.....think I may just pour a tub of sour cream down my neck instead!!

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 14:05

Well, I'm going to have my third bowl of coco pops of the day!

Just reading a thread on the site stuff section about getting rid of the AIBU reasonable thread, and one person in there suggested this
"another change I would make (I know this is a bit me me me me but I figure I'll add it to this thread) it to get those ante and post natal threads off the main chat board"

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 14:16

I've no interest in the Housekeeping threads, but I'd never suggest excluding them!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 14:18

Someone tried with a post like that after *gate....and were still here!!

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 14:22

same names complain ... oh well. don't I have something better to do than be on here all day again?

hollyandalice · 13/05/2007 14:24

Well, I've just defrosted my freezer! Feeling like I should join the good housekeeping threads! It was quite satisfying sitting there with a hairdryer and a knife pulling off big chunks of ice!

Yep, we are all panda mummies! No-one tells you what to do with the baby once you've got it. Everyone tells you how to be pg and give birth, but not how to do any baby stuff!

I'm going to have a sleep now in front of the grand prix!

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 14:26

That's why I got on with the Contented Baby book, it told me exactly what I needed to be doing, after 8 weeks of gently batting DS1!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 14:48

LOL Hally...I do that with my hairdryer too, but DH pointed out that its a tad dangerous as water and electricity don't really mix.....

just stuck my oar in on the AIBU thread....I just couldn't resist!!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 14:49

hally....who's Hally....I mean Holly

Decided to have Scottish Nachos instead.....cheesy chips with salsa guac. sour cream and jalapenos....obviously showing my working class routes!!

derlor · 13/05/2007 15:30

I am so glad that you are back on form Natty!

Daisy, saw your contribution to that other thread. How I laughed!!!

Just mentioned the words "big Mac" as a joke on another thread. I really, really, really want one now!

How big are your hospital bags? I've just started to pack one and realised that after putting a towel, a cardi and a packet of maternity pads in, I'm going to need a full-sized suitcase.

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 17:08

Hmm, in the process of thinking about mine Foxy. Advice has been to pack 3 bags, one for labour and immediatel after, one for staying in overnight and one for baby stuff. So it's a 3 piece luggage set for me!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 17:09

Nah Derlor......buckfast and mad-dog cocktail....I call it the Mad Bucktail

I've only got a wee hospital bag and thinking about it, I'm not sure everything will fit in either.

Miriam Stoppard recommends....a labour bag, a baby birth bag and a going home bag....silly woman, we've enough to do getting our DPs to remember one bag, let alone three.....

Frightened to pack mine really...if I don't pack the bag, I wont have to give birth!!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 17:10

Touche Foxy, touche....

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 17:22

Its not just me still in my pj's is it?

I have been reasonably productive today, more pacing and pottering. These niggly pains are still going on. I feel like I'm having a baby.

daisybump · 13/05/2007 17:43

We got given some baby toys by MILs neighbour today...lovely thought, but they're all noisy V-Tec ones which aren't really my cup of tea, but anyway...DS has been playing with them all day, and I've just caught him beating the crap out of one of them with an old shower head that he usually pretends is a microphone...WTF is going on with that bloody child? Is this normal behaviour, or has his MMR booster gone right to his bloody head?

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 17:47

Foxy, I only got out of pjs half an hour ago. and that's coz i knew DH would be back from work and wanted it to look like I hadn't actually been on MN and ebay ALL day! So no judgement here!

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 17:53

I've just remembered I got into them at about 4pm yesterday

daisybump · 13/05/2007 17:56

I only got out my pjs as the in-laws were coming over, otherwise I'd still be in them!

hollyandalice · 13/05/2007 18:40

I'm still in my pjs!!

I hate those v-tech toys daisy! Alice has been given loads of them and they do my farking head in! It wouldn't be so bad if she didn't press the same buttons over and over again...grrrr!!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 18:45

DH thinks its some kind of displacement behaviour in protest about the baby....just hope he doesn't think it's the done thing to beat the crap out of the baby with the shower head!!!

hollyandalice · 13/05/2007 18:55

I'm sure he won't daisy! He'll prob try and be really helpful! I'm worried that alice will feed the baby something, she always feeds her dolly raisins and things! I love how mystic red ranger has a shower head as a microphone! Bless him!

riabutterflew · 13/05/2007 19:01

I've just looked at that other thread - WTF! (Of course us notherners are obese because it's so cold and we have to eat to keep warm). Wish I'd had the nerve to join in but I'm too scared.

Re hospital bags, I have had two both times before, but the hospital seems to react a bit funny when you go in with more than one bag. Am going to try and get "labour bag" stuff and "after the birth bag" stuff into one bag (when I re-pack) and leave my "coming home" bag at home for DH to bring when he collects us from the hospital (assuming they'll give me time to change after he arrives.) It's all do difficult to organise in my tiny little mind.

I know how you're feeling foxy, every little twinge is like "oh shit here we go". I think we're supposed to take it as a reminder to slow down a bit, but how the hell do you get your house ready (if it's like mine) for a new baby (and a homebirth - that's one of my reasons for not doing it, too much organisation involved) by going about things slowly. (I suppose I have been PG for 8 months and could have started getting organised earlier)..

On a happy note, after the Friday sleepover, DS2 had the same dry pullups from bedtime Friday to bedtime Saturday (then they fell apart), and he has been dry in big boys pants all day. I am SO proud of him (will find him the metre pack of dairy milk later). And also think I will send him to his grandparents overnight when I want him to learn any new skill quickly!

Sorry, long post. DH just got in (only 31/2 hours after he was supposed to) and proceeded to make them cry while he did bathtime, probably best I do bedtime!
Back later...
