Hey guys new thread!
(i stole the title )

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ouch H&A - what can yo do about your tonsils? Can you take anything? Des this mean you get to eat more ice cream?!

God, you can tell we are all knackered and fed up coz everyone is dropping like flies with bugs and things.

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 11:57

You are right about that thread H&A, I was just chatting to a friend who is planning on trying for a baby and have got her into MN (though wondering if that is a good idea as she will be able to spot me straight away - esp as she knows I am due in June! I like the preserve of my anonymity!) and she said the nice thing about being on here is you don't generally have an idea about how much money people have or their back grounds and you talk to people you perhaps wouldn't talk to in RL. But some people wear it like a badge!

hollyandalice · 13/05/2007 12:07

Odd, odd people on MN!!!!

Not a lot I can do about the throat sitch. I have to take a combo of two types of heavy duty antibiotics to get rid of it and I don't think I can take them whilst pg. So I'll just have to stick it out. Generally it's gone within a week or so, so not too bad.

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 12:14

got some soluble aspirin

poor you, its miserable.

best you don't take antibiotics, probably give you and baby thrush, and then you'll get it in your breasts when bf and that is awful!

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 12:16

lordy I'm bored.

Have painted the kids faces, now they are doing a 'show' for me. Bless.

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 12:28

oh someone talk to me or I'll have to go and open the curtains and make the beds!

BadZelda · 13/05/2007 12:29

Poor holly...I used to get tonsilitus all the time and it's horrible...seems like I haven't had it for a while now (touches wood).

Am currently worried baby is transverse as I seem to keep having a foot sticking out of my right side. Here's hoping that it decides to go head down sometime over the next month...it's hard getting them out sideways I suspect...

BadZelda · 13/05/2007 12:31

And on the subject of pain relief in labour, this is going to sound terrible and you'll probably think I'm some kind of criminal, but i did have a joint in labour last time...my friend who's a midwife said it wouldn't do any harm...did relax me a LOT though not sure what the homebirth team would make of it if I tried it again this time... (bz idly wonders where she can get hold of some over the next few weeks...)

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 12:33

Don't think you're a criminal at all! just makes me go mute and inable to move, so wouldnt do me any good in labour!

Have heard a glass of wine in early stages OK too.

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 12:35

Transverse? I'm a bit confused. I thought it was head down, and baby's spine against your spine. Or is it head up?

hollyandalice · 13/05/2007 12:38

ROFL BZ!! That is hilarious! Maybe I'll have a word with my bro, see if he can get me some ! I dare you to start a thread on this, I would PMSL!

I fought for years to get an appt to have my tonsils out and eventually I get one and I get pg! I have to wait til I've stopped bfing and go back on the waiting list.

I need to defrost the freezer, yawn! Except every time I stand up I feel like I'm going to pass out!

BadZelda · 13/05/2007 12:40

Probably me not knowing terms...easiest way I think is 'anterior' - if their head is down, feet up, spine facing out? 'back to back' is called posterior I think? And can give a lot of back pain in labour. Transverse means they're lying across your belly...which can't possibly work too well I wouldn't have thought. Still - have nearly 5 weeks left, so maybe it's just baby exploring and they'll realise they REALLY want to be the right way up for mummy to push out...

BadZelda · 13/05/2007 12:42

Holly I don't dare! They would probably track me down and napalm my house!

I've been feeling a bit dizzy too, and seeing stars if I stand up too quick. Good excuse to spend the afternoon in bed I think...esp as it's raining...

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 12:46

I meant to say yesterday that all the nausea/sickness/ pmt feelings? I'm putting it down to a hefty hormone surge.

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 12:58

Holly - you just need to stay on your arse until you feel better my girl!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 13:02

Just been reading he thread about the chocolate....and resisting the urge to get involved. How the hell did it turn into a class issue? I was working class and we never got sweets and crap to eat because my poor mum and dad had barely enough to feed and clothe us, let alone have treats....I never saw a cholcolate biscuit in our house until I was about 16!!

Now I'm a middle class professional (by virtue of degree and job) and the biggest chocolate guzzling freak that ever walked the earth....and I blame it on the dearth of it when I was a child. And I give treats to DS, but not may cos he reacts very badly to sugar. Where do people get their sweeping generalisations from??

LOL BZ at your joint in labour....that sounds like a fine idea....

daisybump · 13/05/2007 13:04

Ouch about the tonsilitis holly...I used to suffer badly when I was younger and always knew it was coming on when I got that nasty metallic taste in my mouth....then the big white blobs would appear...eeeeewwwww. You can probably get something from the doc though, my last dose was when I was pg with DS and I got prescribed anti-biotics then.

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 13:06

Xenia, of course. Same old arguement.

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 13:07

Is it possible that these BHs are as a result of overdoing it on Friday? Since the school trip I've hardly done anything (except swimming yesterday morning with the los) now I've got BHs, niggling pains, bum nudging and backache.

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 13:11

I kinda like it "when threads go wrong". I think there is overwhelming support for the OP, but its interesting how it develops. Some days its like that on here. People want to get stuck in. Other days its a cess-pool of bitchiness. Then there are those days where you see threads which offer overwhelming support and lovliness, and really do make a difference.

you know sometimes they just wind you up and pg or not, you shout.

you need to relax, chill out and stop being so hard on yourself Daisy!!

daisybump · 13/05/2007 13:23

Told you before...I should be a polar bear and go bury myself in a snow hole until the LO is three months old.

Off to have nachos with all the trimmings (ncluding copious amounts of jalapenos) for lunch. nothing like a bit of vitamin "L" to cheer you up!!

bumperlicious · 13/05/2007 13:29

I'm with you on the polar bear way Daisy!

When I was first pg and freaking out a bit my boss said I was a bit like a panda is what I thought. But apparently when pandas have their first cub they don't understand what is going on and when it's born they just kind of stare at it and bat at it with their paws. If they are in captivity the vets have to come in a rescue the cub and feed it to make sure it survives. Apparently they know what they are doing by the second one though. I'm going to be a panda mummy!

foxybrown · 13/05/2007 13:31

yep, that's pretty much it. I think we are ALL panda mummies!
