@Sarawati thank you! They can't tell yet if they twins are identical. All will be much clearer at the 20 week scan on 27th June (I'll be 20+6 then).

I am mildly hysterical right now. It's my mum's birthday this weekend so we were planning on telling her and my two sisters then. DH's parents are coming to stay this weekend as well so we will tell them all together on Saturday.

I can't wait to tell DS - he has been longing for a baby brother for years...

Will add all my details to the spreadsheet. Shit just got real!

Magpie24 · 02/05/2018 13:19

@marmitericecakes wow congratulations!! We all knew there were going to be twins on this thread, I was just waiting :)

marmitericecakes · 02/05/2018 13:34

@magpie yes I know! And the more singleton scans there were the more my suspicions increased... I'm so excited / mildly terrified!

TinyPawz · 02/05/2018 13:49

@marmitericecakes yay for twins! The rest of us can breathe a sigh of relief

Amarettoplease · 02/05/2018 13:51

Great scan pic @pipsqueak126!

@saraswati what a relief for you! Enjoy that cake Cake

Hi @marmitericecakes, congratulations! We’ve been wondering who would have the twins Grin how lovely after a difficult journey, not one but two! Does your DS know anything yet? Has your sickness been worse?

After worrying yesterday, I’ve felt lots of flutters today. Maybe baby is in a different position but it feels like it’s having a good little workout! First time it’s carried on for long enough that I’m 100% it’s not anything else. Relief for now!

Good news here today too. Celebrated by buying some lovely m&s stretchy trousers! You can make out the little footprint on the scan and it has one of its hands by its face. Really happy and relieved.

Lovely to hear everyone else's news, definitely only one baby here - congratulations on the twins @marmitericecakes x

Double congratulations @marmitericecakes!

marmitericecakes · 02/05/2018 13:54

Taking one for the team Wink

Amarettoplease · 02/05/2018 13:55

@marmitericecakes I just re-read, DS doesn’t know yet. How exciting for you all!

My DS (4) is so desperate for a brother that I’ve decided his joy would overshadow my longing for a daughter! (We’re not having another after this so one of us will be forever longing!)

MrsFTigalar · 02/05/2018 13:58

So I nearly forgot I had an Obstetrics appointment this morning! 😳 All good though, lots of my worries about being high risk put to rest, and lots of support around things that weren't great with DS birth. I've been prescribed aspirin though which I wasn't expecting. Only a week and a half until the scan now thank goodness!

Midwife told DS that there's a baby in mummy's tummy though. Which has left me a bit sad. Entirely unreasonably so, but still.

Congratulations on twins @marmitericecakes

marmitericecakes · 02/05/2018 14:01

@amerettoplease my DS doesn't know anything although subconsciously I think he does because he keeps hugging me and rubbing his face into my tummy.

We lost a baby at 17 weeks into the pregnancy a couple of years ago. I then had a miscarriage at 11+5 so we just decided not to tell anyone this time. Expecting twins feels like a very special honour!

In terms of symptoms, I've been feeling tired and hungry but have only been sick once. My stomach gets bloated and I need to eat carbs like never before. So I haven't been too bad at all but compared to previous pregnancies I've felt rough!

Magpie24 · 02/05/2018 14:09

Has everyone told work yet? I'm 13+1 and haven't had my antenatal screening test back but fx it's ok as the nuchal reading was 1.2. Don't want to tell them only for something to go wrong but they will need to start planning my maternity cover soon.

marmitericecakes · 02/05/2018 14:14

Sorry @Amarettoplease I couldn't remember how to spell amaretto! DS has been obsessed about having a baby brother since he was 3! I've explained previously that we can't guarantee a boy and he said he'd be happy with any baby at all Grin
He's been a complete angel child and I can't imagine the carnage coming our way!

olderthanyouthink · 02/05/2018 14:14

Aww congratulations @marmitericecakes! Taking two for the team!

The statistic gods have now hopefully been appeased and the rest of us will be safe now 😋

I'm on my way back to work after an appointment with a genetics dr. She thinks that there is a low risk of my baby having my brothers issues given family history and tests on my parents and brother.

Congratulations everyone with good scans and double congratulations @marmitericecakes !

Measles is going around so I have had to tell a few people at work in order to avoid the measles infected kids (though I am immunised). Then I told a few more as it was a relief to get some sympathy and excitement as I have not been feeling well plus I am a rubbish liar.

I decided as long as it is not common knowledge, I would be able to manage a few people at work knowing if things went for the worst, it might even help.

MeredithShepherd · 02/05/2018 14:34

Wow @Marmite so excited for you!! Congratulations on all the happy scans!

Saraswati · 02/05/2018 14:41

I had to tell work due to having sick leave the last couple of days. Otherwise I would've kept quiet a bit longer! They all know so fingers crossed screening is ok bit I'll deal with that if and when I have to.

GreenMeerkat · 02/05/2018 14:53

Welcome and congratulations @marmitericecakes

Congratulations all who've had heathy 12 weeks scans.

Received trisomy test results today which say lower risk. They don't give the figure though. I know it's daft but I want to know what it is.

olderthanyouthink · 02/05/2018 15:22

@Magpie24 I've told someone at work, but not officially, so I can explain the appointments in the middle of the day. Will tell her to let the relevant people (one of which has just gone on paternity leave) in the next week or two it think. They need to come up with a maternity policy because I'm the first but it will likely be just statutory.

I've been having a think about mat/pat/shared leave a lot today. Trying to wrap my head around it and how we can do it so my BF can have some time at home without bankrupting us. Feels like I'm getting ahead of myself though because haven't had NT test yet.

Omg @MrsFTigalar Did she know he didn't know? I would have gone mad if she'd told my DS that when I hadn't told him myself yet!

moomoo85 · 02/05/2018 15:39

Scan today went well. Due date is now the 9/11. Can relax a bit now I hope
