@TheUbercornMum I've never heard any advice about avoiding cranberry juice. Crammed with vitamin C and may help to reduce UTI's (I think the research is mixed on that one) surely it can only be a good thing 😊

I'm vegetarian, the only things my midwife said to avoid is soft cheeses. Since my last pg you can even have soft boiled eggs now.

BunBunMum · 28/04/2018 07:15

I’ve managed to stress myself out reading about molar pregnancy this morning (my pee sticks were weirdly strong compared to with DS) and I’m generally very anxious having had a miscarriage recently etc. We’ve booked a reassurance scan for 12:15 today as still 3 weeks until my 12 week scan.

Amarettoplease · 28/04/2018 08:03

I’m so sorry about the recent bad news on the thread since the last time I’ve been on. I hope everyone going through tough times gets all the rest and support they need to heal.

We ended up telling DS (4) somewhere between 10 week early scan and 12 week scan. I knew it was going to be difficult to find someone to have him for the morning unless I left him home with my mum and had the scan alone (DH first week at new job). He has been fine, knows that he starts school in Sept, then his birthday is Oct and the baby will come after his birthday. Even without the months, I think explaining the sequence of events is useful. He’s not shown loads of interest since, life of a 4 year old is busy! He told his nursery friends though and they ask me where the baby is every time I pick him up. Of course I weighed up the risk of something bad happening. DS is pretty resilient and matter of fact so I figured he would be ok with whatever we told him.

Looking forward to him being able to pick out an outfit or toy for the baby but want to wait a lot longer. A mum on DS’ bus makes baby harem pants so I’ve ordered a pair in a scandi style print but only because she’s about to go on mat leave so it was my last chance! I probably won’t get anything else until the summer hols. Need to focus on having a clear out to make space first!

Found a crabmeat cannelloni recipe that I want to have a go at today. Shame DH only wants to eat meat and veg and doesn’t approve of my creamy cheesy tastes at the moment! But more for me Grin

Is anyone knitting for their baby? I made a blanket for DS and want to do one this time. I’m easily distracted so thinking a woolly hugs style one would work, just with textured squares. I could just do as many as possible between now and Oct then join them then? Might need help with colour combos if anyone is good at that sort of thing!

Amarettoplease · 28/04/2018 08:07

Good luck today @bunbunmum. Each pregnancy is so different, I hope you have nothing to worry about and feel better after your scan x

LastNightsMakeUp · 28/04/2018 08:40

Good luck today @BunBunMum

@Amarettoplease I've recently taking up crochet and have an ever enlarging granny square blanket on the go that hopefully become a coming home blanket for baby 😊

moomoo85 · 28/04/2018 08:40

My hips are really painful. Not when walking but when lying on one side for too long. Anyone else got this? I don't remember having this last time. Was so uncomfortable last night that I ended up using my pregnancy pillow which seems really early but helped.

I'm 11+5

LastNightsMakeUp · 28/04/2018 08:43

@moomoo85 I've had my pregnancy pillow on the go for a few weeks now! Been getting lower back pain (sacral area) off an on - had it quite badly at the end of pregnancy with dd but it seems to have come on really early. I guess it's a combination of things starting to move (and being more mobile than previously) and wrangling a toddler who loves to be carried at the moment!

MamaGarl · 28/04/2018 09:10

@moomoo85 yes! Really bad hip pain this time round! I didn't have this until the last few weeks with DD,hopefully it's not going to get worse Confused

Saraswati · 28/04/2018 09:20

Same here @moomoo85 I have to sleep with a pillow in between my legs. I want to get a pregnancy pillow, I had a dream geni last time but it wasn't so great for bf afterwards so need to research one for preg and bf. Anyone had a good one? I've heard good things about the theraline one.

MeredithShepherd · 28/04/2018 09:23

I’m still sleeping on my front at 13 weeks tomorrow. I can’t remmeber when I stopped last time?! Is it just when it gets uncomfortable?

LastNightsMakeUp · 28/04/2018 09:23

@Saraswati I've got a bbhugme sausage one - it's all individual little beads inside so one bit of it doesn't get flat like the pillow type ones. Dd has been sat in it watching duggee and I can see that it'll be good for bf afterwards as can completely wrap around your middle. It's a bit ridiculously expensive but I struggled so much with reflux and indigestion last time and have so much less to buy I splashed out! Nothing more important than sleep!

LastNightsMakeUp · 28/04/2018 09:26

@MeredithShepherd I looked this up yesterday as couldn't remember!

Saraswati · 28/04/2018 09:31

@lastnightsmakeup thanks I'll look that up, my old one got all flat because it was just an overused pillow so the bead things sound good. Will just tell dp that I NEED it and he can't argue Grin

Shrimpi · 28/04/2018 10:58

I'm so pleased because whilst I'm still gagging a reasonable amount, haven't been sick in days, starting to go back to eating real food in decent portions, the constant nausea is much less present than before, and the great wall of bloat is finally deflating!!

@moomoo
I have had the hip thing exactly, fortunately not so much from bed but if I lie on the sofa then when I get up I am hobbling!

I told my brother I was pregnant (can't tell my parents couldn't handle their reaction if the worst happened), he's so excited it's really sweet haha.

Shrimpi · 28/04/2018 11:02

I've actually got up and not had to eat straight away or vomit for a few days now. Today I've been up since 9.30 and I haven't eaten yet and I don't feel sick! I am literally so excited by this.

Based on my lmp and cycle I am 11+4 today. Fingers crossed for everyone else who is still nauseous it will get better soon!

wejammin · 28/04/2018 11:23

@Amarettoplease I'm crocheting a blanket as it's much quicker than knitting. Both DCs came home in a hand crochet blanket, but DS's was huge as he was 1st child and I had free time, DD's was tiny in comparison poor thing! She uses it for her dolls now.

sarahhh1984 · 28/04/2018 11:58

For those suffering with hip pain, I had this really badly in first pregnancy and ended up swearing by the Dream Genii pillow. It hasn't been too bad this time round so wondering if that's because I've already had the pillow out and in use or if it just hasn't hit yet.

On an unrelated note, it feels so good to be able to tell people now the 12-week scan is done! Think we've told everyone we want to tell now. And I can openly wear maternity clothes without worrying about people guessing - hurrah!

BunBunMum · 28/04/2018 12:34

Early scan went well - dates exactly right, heartbeat seen and just the one baby!

Emelene · 28/04/2018 13:19

So glad for you @BunBunMum! Great news Smile

MeredithShepherd · 28/04/2018 13:41

Congrats @BunBunMum

sarahhh1984 · 28/04/2018 14:49

Congratulations @BunBunMum!

TinyPawz · 28/04/2018 15:39

These are the two blankets I am planning for Flump. Yarn arrived today. Just have to finish another project before I can get started.

@TinyPawz that second one is beautiful!

pipsqueak126 · 28/04/2018 15:47

That blanket is gorgeous! I crocheted a blanket whilst trying to conceive, as a good luck charm. But my husband gave me some lovely alpaca yarn for Christmas (I'm a long time crochet addict...) in autumnal colours which I think will make a nice warm blanket for winter baby! For the past few years I've been working towards a granny square blanket like the above but with random solid colours (like elmer the elephant) but it'll be about king size once done so not so child friendly... Aside from making dens!

Amarettoplease · 28/04/2018 16:05

@tinypawz @wejamin @lastnightsmakeup I’ve never learnt to crochet! Tried once and ended up just making knots I think. Maybe I should give it another go. Autumnal colours sound good, DH was unimpressed at the duck egg/mushroom/cream combination I pulled out earlier! DS came home in a shop bought but lovely bright striped blanket mainly primary colours with white in it I think. An Elmer style one would be fab. @pipsqueak126 I’m impressed with your dedication, that blanket will be amazing when it’s finished!
