Yes my mom works with a lady who did not find out about twins until her 20 week scan. She had had 2 previous scans (12 and 16 weeks) but the sonographer said the babies must have “mirrored” each other’s position previously. How odd!

NoCatsHere · 27/04/2018 09:57

whizzer lovely scan picture! I think the results only take 3 days or so, pretty sure thats what my midwife said at my appointment. So hopefully not long for you to wait.

I've made it to 10 weeks today! I can't tell you what a relief that is. Hoping everything is still alright in there. My normally total flat chest is at last growing too, (perks of pregnancy for a fried egg boob lady)....so feel that is a positive. I don't remember getting bigger boobs last time with my mmc. Only 19 days to go until my scan. Seems like forever away!

ditzzy · 27/04/2018 12:01

I’m confirmed as out. Scan this morning showed the bean to be a few days bigger than two weeks ago, but no heartbeat now.

Surgical management booked for Monday.

Good luck everyone, seeing the lovely scans pics and everything over the last couple of weeks has really helped

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 27/04/2018 12:03

Sorry @ditzzy

Look after yourself Thanks

LastNightsMakeUp · 27/04/2018 12:12

Sorry to hear that @ditzzy hope all goes as well as it can x

ditzzy · 27/04/2018 12:22

Thanks girls. At least I know what to expect this time, although not something I want to become any more experienced at after this one!

pipsqueak126 · 27/04/2018 12:34

I'm so sorry to hear your results @ditzzy , and all the other bad news we've had over the past few days. I wish you all the best for the future, and it's been great getting to know you. Take care of yourselves during what must be a terrible time for you and your partners. xxx

sarahhh1984 · 27/04/2018 12:49

So sorry to hear your news @ditzzy. Look after yourself. Thanks

NoCatsHere · 27/04/2018 13:04

@marajade12 hope you got some reassurance from yesterdays scan about the fluid. hope you're ok.

ditzzy i'm so sorry to hear your news. take good care of yourself.

Nightmanagerfan · 27/04/2018 13:10

@ditzzy I’m so sorry. I’m about to go in for surgery so if you want any info later pls pm me. It’s utterly crap isn’t it. Sending love to you

olderthanyouthink · 27/04/2018 13:20

@ditzzy I'm really sorry for your loss

LOL at all the twin denial, maybe some will show up at a later scan not me please

@Mayah aww sleepy baby

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer haha, petite. They look like handful sized on the screen so it took me a while to process the actual size as being really small (42mm so actually big for my dates).

@NoCatsHere I'm not exactly flat chested, just small but it's slightly amusing that my boobs are getting bigger, now if only they didn't hurt so much.

Hi all,
Thanks for all your kind words and support. It has been a massive help getting through these past few days.

Saw the consultant cardiologist yesterday. She was a bit surprised to see me as they generally can’t see much to make an assessment of the heart until 16 weeks. Sounds like there was an admin error 😡 I have been rebooked for another cardiology scan in three weeks time.

The next three weeks of waiting are going to be hell...🙁

sarahhh1984 · 27/04/2018 14:44

Scan went well. Baby was nice and active and measuring 12+1 so due 8 November. Baba was very wriggly and gave us a wave which was nice. Have a hunch it's another girl but we'll see.

Fab news and photo @sarahhh1984 Smile

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 27/04/2018 15:08

Nice scans Smile

Midwife has all my bloods back as normal but the downs one apparently gets sent off to London and it could be the end of next week before it's back as it's a letter to home address and they don't get sent it. I just want to tell DS now but can't because we said we'd wait until we had all the screening results back. Angry

BunBunMum · 27/04/2018 15:33

So sorry to hear your news @ditzzy

@TinyPawz my Dh thinks twin size would be ‘fun’ too....I just think I’d just ‘exist’ for the first couple of years and have to quit work etc as just couldn’t afford childcare....but then I’d have 3 children which might not happen otherwise!!

@Aussi I have myself convinced there’s more than one in me and my scan isn’t until 18th May so each ‘single’ scan makes me wonder if I’m the one! In my Oct ‘15 group there are 3 sets of twins amongst about 80 of us!

moomoo85 · 27/04/2018 16:05

We have one set of twins in my mn group for my older child out of the 50 of us.

My husband has also said twins would be great. I have told him he is mad.

Shrimpi · 27/04/2018 17:28

@ditzzy

I'm so sorry to hear that :( please look after yourself and I hope everything from here is straightforward for you.

Re: twins, a small (naive) part of me would be pleased and excited to discover twins. The larger more sensible part would realise I would worry a lot more during the pregnancy at it is higher risk (especially for preterm birth), and maybe also missing out on that intense bonding with a first newborn (this is my first pregnancy). My husband is dead against twins because he has heard too many of my stories from the NNU and I think I've actually given him a really warped pessimistic view on how often things go wrong!!

Saraswati · 27/04/2018 18:02

So sorry @dizzy Flowers

Congrats to those with good scans today! We fly home tomorrow, I'm worried about the flight, being knackered, vomming etc but I've just got to power through I guess. Just holding on to the fact that it'll be Sunday very quickly then it's not long until scan on weds.

Vommed up a really good quality gelato today Confused can't enjoy anything this holiday! Shouldn't complain though as it's a symptom which I hope is positive.

When are those with older kids going to tell them? I was thinking if all is ok then after I get the DS risk results. But my mum said that dd won't understand she has to wait 6 months, I get her point but if there is a lot of baby talk around her I don't want her to find out that way. She talks a lot about a baby sister already so I think she's picked up on conversations. She's 3 and not stupid and I want to have a proper conversation about it with her.

MeredithShepherd · 27/04/2018 18:08

Congrats everyone on all the lovely scans!

NoCatsHere · 27/04/2018 18:16

sara I have a 3 and 7 year old and I’ll be telling them after the 12 week scan if all is ok. When I told my now 7 year old I was expecting my second child he was 3 and a bit and totally understood and the wait didn’t seem to bother him. Time passes differently for them at that age, and sometimes I think he just totally forgot about it all. I used to take him to my midwife appointments so he could hear the heartbeat and be involved, he’s a very gentle and caring boy, and when he could feel the kicks it really was a lovely thing to share with him. I hope all is ok as im desperate to tell them, I’m going to make sure I remember to film their reaction!

Laurisi · 27/04/2018 18:17

@saraswati
I’m telling mine after the 12 week scan when we know things are ok mine are 12, 10 and 5 though so a bit older it’s always a long wait for them but it’s nice to get them excited and be able to include them in things aswell Smile

Saraswati · 27/04/2018 18:21

@nocatshere that's really great to hear about your experience with a 3 year old, he sounds a sweet boy. My dd was 3 in December so understands pretty much everything and I really want to include her in the prep for the baby as much as possible. Also she's my little mate and I can't wait to share this with her!

TheUbercornMum · 27/04/2018 19:21

So sorry @dizzy Flowers

@Saraswati I told my 4 yr old after the scan and tests back and she totally understands the wait. A bit inpatient but gets it. I bought her a book to explain the different stages and it shows baby getting bigger and bigger in the pictures.

Congrats to everyone on all the scans!

TheUbercornMum · 27/04/2018 19:24

Oh and a random one. Cranberry juice. Safe in pregnancy or not? NHS website doesn't mention it at all and that's my go to site but some things on Google (mainly random people on forums which I try to ignore unless they cite a credible source) said to avoid. I'm kinda double questioning myself. Which is daft, but this time around I'm finding myself being a bit more anxious about what foods to eat and drink bizarrely. Feels like there are more guidelines this time!
