Thanks @keepinghopeful no more bleeding so I'm 'keeping hopeful'.

@nightmanagerfan so utterly shitty, I'm so sorry Flowers

sarahhh1984 · 23/04/2018 17:55

@keepinghopeful No worries! I was a bit confused when I saw your message as I was wondering what was wrong with me! 😂 It'a not too early to blame baby brain, is it?

Nightmanagerfan · 23/04/2018 19:30

Thanks all. Just back from CVS procedure - not too bad but fairly painful and feeling it now the anaesthetic has worn off. I’ll have the result by Friday. If it’s negative it will be the best news ever. I asked a few more questions and the heart issue is ok if it’s chromosomally normal, but it is a marker for downs hence why they mentioned it.
Thanks to those of you who’ve reiterated that we will make the right decision for our family. We’re going to lay low and speak to a few carefully chosen trusted friends only. I won’t he telling my parents for example as I don’t think they would cope well. I’m so aware it’s such a loaded issue too, especially being in a faith community, but I will be keen to make space for us to think. I have a family member with DS who is in his 50s, and he needs lots of care and couldn’t live independently, so that is making me concerned for the future. Anyway, please don’t let my difficult news derail the thread with chat of happier things. I know a few others were having scans today so please do post pix!

NoCatsHere · 23/04/2018 19:51

nightmanger glad the procedure wasn’t too bad, sorry you’re in pain now though. absolutely MUST be the best decaion for you and your family. Thank you for being so honest too. It is a loaded a subject and it would have been easy to drop off the thread. I have evetything crossed for you for Friday, and we are all here to support you in whatever you decide.

MiniMinions · 23/04/2018 20:07

@Emma0902 I'm with you on the already carrying more so just look heavier, last time I was 20w + before I started getting "is she pregnant?"

@Nightmanagerfan hope you get more positive csv results. Not nice getting that information, we had a 3mm NT last time but results came back lower risk and lots of worry again at the 20w scan when another abnormality found!! Hope results are good and whatever the decision it will be the right one for you xx

BunBunMum · 23/04/2018 20:08

Sorry it wasn’t a straightforward scan for you today @nightmanagerfan Thinking if you x

TheUbercornMum · 23/04/2018 20:13

@Nightmanagerfan hope you manage to rest tonight and that any aches and pains you might have as a result of the procedure disappear swiftly. I know everyone has a different opinion, and there is no right or wrong, as nocats says above, we are here for you whatever you decide, if indeed you have to. I hope Friday comes around quickly and you get good news.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 23/04/2018 20:17

Thinking of you @Nightmanagerfan

Got scan tomorrow. Not a worrier too much generally but this has me irrationally on edge.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 23/04/2018 20:17

The whole scan process I mean in general.

MeredithShepherd · 23/04/2018 20:21

@Nightmanagerfan I’ve got my fingers and toes firmly crossed for you.

Good luck with scans everyone who has them in the next few days!

GreenMeerkat · 23/04/2018 20:35

@Nightmanagerfan hope you get the result you want in Friday. Fingers firmly crossed for you xx

Nightmanagerfan · 23/04/2018 20:55

You’re all brilliant. I’ll update you on Friday when we know more. Sorry if this has scared you @givemummythewhizzwer - it is unusual so please do remember most people won’t get the result we did. My sister is a GP who’s done obstetrics and she said our result is higher than any she saw when working in obstetrics, so very rare. I’m watching mindless telly and eating Easter eggs - hoping for a good sleep tonight.

Potkettleblack2 · 23/04/2018 21:03

Nightmanagerfan I'm sorry to hear your worrying news. Thinking of you x

kel156 · 23/04/2018 21:41

Hi pals, is anyone experiencing being bunged up/sneezing a lot? It's been pretty constant for me since I got pregnant, but I'm not feeling ill like I have a cold.

ditzzy · 23/04/2018 21:58

I’ve just been lurking nervously here for the past week. Still waiting for my follow up scan to see whether there’s any growth and check if the heartbeat’s still there. I had a call from the hospital last week to move my 12 week scan based on my “new dates” during which call she mentioned that the consultant had looked at my scans and stated it at 6 weeks, a touch better than the 5w3d the midwife said, and much better than the sonographer saying 4-5 weeks, but still two weeks short of my (definite) dates.

And I still really don’t feel pg any more, just like with last year’s mmc. Only got to wait until Friday to find out now though! That little smidge of hope I’ve still got is torture, but I’m still hanging on to it!

@Nightmanagerfan - I feel your nerves on the wait. A definitive answer is what we’ll both hopefully achieve by the weekend. I just had to stick my head back above the parapet so you know you’re not alone.

Sad to see we’ve lost a couple of others, but lovely to see some actual 12 week scan pics already

Nightmanagerfan · 23/04/2018 22:07

@ditzzy so sorry to hear of your news and nervous wait too - it’s awful isn’t it. I’ll be thinking of you and hoping we both get good news. I have to say, if I get good news on Friday I am definitely having a (very small) glass of Champagne! (Might be a good idea either way come to think of it. Not sure a Becks Blue will cut it.)

Shrimpi · 23/04/2018 22:30

@Nightmanagerfan

I don't know you very well but I still feel confident that you can cope & move forward with whatever the results are, and whatever your decision is. Don't let anyone judge you or tell you what to do (I'm sure you wouldn't)! In my line of work I see the remarkable resilience (and joy) of families all the time, even in situations they were never prepared for. Good luck with your results!

sarahhh1984 · 23/04/2018 22:49

@kel156 I think it can be quite normal to feel bunged up in early pregnancy. From what I recall, it's the progesterone making all of your mucus thicker. Usually it settles down once things level out in the second trimester.

I've had a rotten cold for almost four weeks now. Every time I think it's getting better it comes back and the cough keeps triggering my gag reflex and making me puke. Have to just let it run its course. Can take paracetamol but it's not really doing anything for it. Need heavy duty decongestants but can't have them while pregnant! That being said, if cough and sore throat doesn't clear up by Wednesday I'm going back to see the GP as it shouldn't be lingering this long, pregnant or not. 🤒

MrsFTigalar · 24/04/2018 07:33

@nightmanagerfan I'm thinking of you. The wait alone must be scary enough.

@sarahhh1984 I've been similarly bunged up, it's definitely due to thicker 🤢 mucus, and combined with an immune system that's mainly interested in the baby, it's not fun for us.

Lovely scans everyone, I've got to wait until the 14th for mine and it feels like forever!

So tired here - I woke up in the night and took 3 hours to get back to sleep. Which does not work well when you're already shattered. I'm just really anxious - I know I'll be better after the scan though. Tuesdays are a busy day here so I'm hoping that will keep me from somuch worry.

Saraswati · 24/04/2018 09:05

Bunged up here too, with dd I had the sniffles for the whole pregnancy! Hope this goes away with this one as it makes my nausea worse.

I've had no more bleeding, it went brown and now it's completely stopped so I'm keeping everything crossed that was it and whatever was bleeding has healed. I still have progesterone at night and dp has to give me an injection of it today so that should be fun! Going for a gentle stroll to the beach today so hopefully I'll be ok with that. I'm still terrified, dp is annoyingly relaxed and optimistic but I think he's just a bit clueless about all the terrifying things that go wrong with pregnancies.

@nightmanagerfan have you taken some time off work until you get your results or do you prefer to keep busy? Obviously not the same situation but I think i might call in sick to work on Monday and Tuesday, until scan on weds I just don't think I'll get anything done and I can't bear to have to lie about having had a nice holiday. But then again being at home might drive me equally mad...

GreenMeerkat · 24/04/2018 09:50

Scan went well. Everything looks as it should and measuring 13+1 Smile

olderthanyouthink · 24/04/2018 09:53

@GreenMeerkat 😲 it's got a little nose, looks like a proper little human! Cute 😊

sarahhh1984 · 24/04/2018 10:10

Beautiful scan @GreenMeerkat. Congratulations!

Glad to hear the bleeding is stopping @Saraswati. If it were me, I'd call in sick for those two days to avoid having to lie and possibly getting upset. But, I also take your point about going crazy at home. It may be good for you to get the rest though.

TheImprobableGirl · 24/04/2018 10:18

aww lovely to see scans coming in already! Looks awesome @greenmeerkat

good luck @ditzzy and @nightmanagerfan - looking forward to some hopefully good news on friday!

accidentally organised 5 children to mine for a playdate today - I think I thought it would be a welcome distraction from worrying about the scan! Bloating has started going down, has anybody else notice the symptoms and 'bump' decreasing? worried about how well i'm feeling!

MamaGarl · 24/04/2018 10:21

Not sure what to do...I have had on and off brown discharge since last Wednesday. Had my scan and all was fine, they couldn't see any reason for it.
Spoke to MW after and she was fairly dismissive, just told me to look out for fresh red bleeding but i am wondering how long do I just ignore it?
