Fab @dontquit!!

I had scan yesterday & measuring 9+4... praying keeps going well 🙏🏻

MamaGarl · 19/04/2018 16:04

@Nevada54 I am loving jeggings at the minute! Feel like I am living in the same 5 outfits all the time

marchblossom · 19/04/2018 19:18

So found out today that chicken pox is going round and spreading fast at the school where I teach. My mum says I had it as a child, does that keep baby safe?

Had a lovely booking appointment yesterday, my midwife seems so friendly and Oxford is apparently leading the way in lots of new vbac research. They are very positive about limited interventions and home birth etc - she even recommended some doulas! Sooo different from my experience 10 years ago in North London, where I felt bullied into having a c-section from about 20 weeks! I've been given the all clear to have a home birth (all being well) and just have to see the consultant midwife at some point to chat things through. It was really reassuring as I'd been a bit anxious about it all. Just got to get through the next 2 weeks waiting for first scan now! Seems to be taking forever!! (10+1)

marchblossom · 19/04/2018 19:20

Also, trying, and failing, to hide my burgeoning tummy! I guess it's normal to show this early with 3rd baby?! I've actually lost weight in general but tummy is noticeably round and sticking right out. I think my colleagues will guess soon and I'll have to tell my head anyway in order to get time off for the scan.

GreenMeerkat · 19/04/2018 19:28

@marchblossom both my DDs have had chicken pox while I've been pregnant and I'm fine. I had it as a child so completely immune and baby is safe.

I also have a noticeably round tummy being my 3rd. Though I have not lost weight.... quite the opposite Blush

Got a letter from my midwife today as the results of my urine test at booking appointment show I have a UTI so have to take some antibiotics. First I've heard of it, I've had no symptoms or anything!

marchblossom · 19/04/2018 19:42

Thanks @GreenMeerkat that's reassuring to know. It's been so long since my last (youngest is nearly 7!) that it all feels new again!

Great that you're getting the UTI sorted before suffering with any symptoms!

GreenMeerkat · 19/04/2018 20:11

@TinyPawz what's a B bump and D bump?

TinyPawz · 19/04/2018 21:02

@GreenMeerkat larger ladies tend to have B bumps rather than perfect D bumps (no line in the middle).

GreenMeerkat · 19/04/2018 21:13

And belly bands can stop this?! Please tell me more about this magic of which you speak!

TinyPawz · 19/04/2018 21:17

Apparently. The belly band is supposed to smooth out the bottom (fatty/flabby) bit so top but blends and creates the D bump. At the minute I have no proof of this wonderfulness as I have no bump so speak of other than the flabby/fatty spare tire that permanently lives on my midsection. Though as soon I get my 12 week scan over I will be into maternity clothes & belly bands galore.

olderthanyouthink · 19/04/2018 21:18

AngryAngryAngry

You'll never guess what? I finally got a letter from St Thomas', it's had an appointment for booking and an appointment for a scan.

Only fucking problem is I got the letter when I got home (I checked my mailbox before I went to work at about 9:20, empty) and the booking appointment was for 9:45 TODAY!!!! How the f was I supposed to know about that?

The date in the letter was 12th April. How does it take a week to get a letter less than 4 miles?! And god knows what happened to the first letter they said they sent.

When I spoke to someone last week I was only told about the scan next week, I asked about the booking appointment and they said no it will be after the scan.

I emailed PALS yesterday and they asked for my phone number and to confirm my address so they could look into and get someone to call me. I'll let them know about the latest crap and if I don't hear back I have some time tomorrow afternoon to just physically go there.

Does anyone know what a formal complaint involves?

@dontquit great picture! They look like they are waving hello!!

@olderthanyouthink That is terrible!!! I hope that you can get another one quickly after all this hassle!!

Nightmanagerfan · 19/04/2018 21:31

@olderthanyouthink that’s awful - hope you get it sorted. I’m at Kings and after the letters are sent I also get a recorded message on my mobile to confirm. St Thomas may not do this though.

Lovely to see scan pix! Can’t wait to see more. My scan is on Monday when I’ll be 12+5. It feels like it’s taken ages to come around.

All my trousers are too tight now so I’m in leggings and stretchy dresses. Today as it’s so hot I skipped the leggings and got terrible chub rub for the first time I my life! I knew I’d put on a bit of weight but I think it’s the three month break from yoga and HIIT that has brought on such wobbly thighs. I’ve been googling remedies - has anyone tried Body Glide?

toasterstrudle · 19/04/2018 21:31

@dontquit great pic!

@wejammin I'm tomorrow as well - not til 2:30 though, I'm quite nervous! Fingers crossed we all get good news. I'm 12 weeks today going by lmp but could all change tomorrow I guess!

toasterstrudle · 19/04/2018 21:32

Also @marchblossom if you've had chicken pox you're totally fine, I teach too and checked with midwife last time as we had an outbreak.

TheUbercornMum · 19/04/2018 21:40

On the B bump thing, you can also get it in certain body shapes. Because I'm short and small bodied I've been told and my organs get pushed up and no where to go so the top tummy part is sticking out when it doesn't usually. My stomach and goodness knows what else inside is sort of pushed up as a result. So the bottom part is the actual bump but the top one is everything else protruding out and it's quite hard rather than squishy! I had it in my last pregnancy too when I was was a size 8/10 and it was a strange look and this time a bit heavier and it's just the same. It all blended together in a D I recall in the 2nd trimester sometime but this is when my acid reflex began due to everything being squashed together. Ah pregnancy is delightful haha!

toasterstrudle · 19/04/2018 21:44

@TheUbercornMum oh god I'd forgotten the reflux!!

GreenMeerkat · 19/04/2018 21:49

Oooh I best get some of these belly bands then! I'm not really that big, (well I probably am now after all the crap I've been eating) I'm a size 12 but I've had 2 sections so have the 'section shelf' as I call it so end up with a B bump as the shelf hangs down underneath. Would love a neat little D but my body just won't allow it. I'm 5ft 1, put on weight by just looking at food and can only stomach white carbs and sweets when pregnant, so I end up resembling a bowling ball with legs

Amarettoplease · 19/04/2018 22:05

Another one who has had a scan today- 11+4 so matches the early scan I had (my LMP dates are a week ahead so I must have ovulated late or something?). I’m sure I felt baby move while I was being scanned- like it twitched or turned as she rolled over it. She said it did move when I said I felt it and I think I’ve felt it randomly at other points when I’ve been sitting down and a bit forward. Is this even possible? I do also have a lot of wind! Blush

We also got first choice for DS’s school, I’m so excited to be on mat leave when he is in reception Smile

Haven’t announced to friends/family that didn’t know already yet. Feels weird when I’m not 12 weeks yet even though I’ve had the scan! Weirder that all the kids at school know because it’s so obvious now, but I have friends and family that don’t!

@toasterstrudle ugh its horrid isn't it. Oh the joys that await us! Haha! Get rid of the sickness only to be replaced with the almighty burn in the throat and swigging (and gagging) at gaviscon.

@GreenMeercat I totally understand on the height thing. I am envious of tall women, one of my friends is tall and slender and she had the most neat little bump with space above it before her top half as there was plenty of room for it to be. I too resemble a bowling ball as basically I'm all bump as there is no space for anything from my pelvis up to my boobs. Basically my boobs blend with the bump. Haha. Last time from behind you couldn't see I was pregnant but from the front it was just bump haha! I did have a huge bump and big baby though! The bottom bump is quite hard for me now despite the c section pouch bit that was still remaining, both aren't big but uncomfortable in my usual clothes. Ah joy joy happy happy!

sarahhh1984 · 20/04/2018 06:01

Congratulations to the ladies with the beautiful scan pics! And good luck to those with scans today. Can't believe we're into the 12-week scans already.

MamaGarl · 20/04/2018 06:07

@Amarettoplease I am convinced I have felt flutterings! Haven't mentioned it to anyone as I don't want them to think I am crazy!

GreenMeerkat · 20/04/2018 06:24

I can feel it too.

sarahhh1984 · 20/04/2018 06:48

@Amarettoplease, @MamaGarl and @GreenMeerkat, I'm convinced I've been feeling movements for the last week - Little flutterings and poppings. I'm 11+2 today. Think they do say when it's your second (or more!) you can feel movements earlier. Didn't feel DD until I was about 16 weeks though so this feels very early!

Amarettoplease · 20/04/2018 07:10

Ok so I’m not going crazy! I don’t remember how far along I was last time, just know it definitely wasn’t this early.
