As we enter month 5 of our pregnancies we need a 5th thread!

Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

I'm allowed leggings for work too which I do go for some days - the asda ones are good, I've got them in a size up from my normal, and they come nice and high over the bump.
But I do still need some tights for when I wear dresses and more formal office wear. I'll definitely try ASOS and see what I can find. Its just annoying that most places just do maternity online, so I can't go and have a look and a feel of them before I buy.

clementineclouds · 17/04/2018 16:09

@lindyhopy pm me the email you use for fb, and I can send you an invite. as its a secret group, you won't be able to search/find it. x

Hi all,

I'm 21+4 and due in late August with our first baby. We had our scan last week and everything looked fine but I have to go back on Friday as they needed a better photo of the spine and baby stubbornly refused to turn! Have a few friends due this summer but none live near me and there are no other August babies - now I'm over the halfway mark it's starting to feel real!

clementineclouds · 17/04/2018 22:06

Hi @wolfiemother. Smile

@lindyhopy I am due on the 7th! Smile

Hey ladies, been to the doctors,
I haven’t got a bladder infection which is good. However I do have what looks like the start of SPD. Symphysis pubis dysfunction. the pain is horrendous but doctor said nothing can be done about it till I give birth. Just need paracetamol xx

birdy1978 · 18/04/2018 17:40

Thanks for asking Stephiewoo, I’m fine thanks. I’ve had another growth scan and although he growing still he’s not catching up at all. But on the plus side he’s still active and the Iona test came back as very low risk. It’s just a waiting game now to see if he gets to a viable size and then we’ll start having a glimmer of hope.

Oh Gem, I’m sorry to hear about your SPD, it can be really tough. Hydrotherapy is good, if you can get your GP to refer you.

SpriteGirl · 18/04/2018 22:48

@birdy1978 pleased to hear things may be looking up for you.

@Gem173 sorry to hear about your SPD. Hope it doesn’t get too bad. Why can’t pregnancy be straightforward??!

Gem173 · 19/04/2018 06:24

Thanks ladies, I’m glad the pains aren’t all the time! So just got to take things slow :) I have some days where I’m fine but others where it’s painful. Will look into hydrotherapy thanks @Spritegirl x

Stephiewoo · 19/04/2018 06:50

@birdy1978
This is really promising. You're not far in my thoughts and I have everything crossed that little one will gain more and more growth.xxx

FallenAngel89 · 19/04/2018 06:53

His everyone! August baby due here too, the 28th 😊 I'm the same as @Gem173 at the moment. Went to the Dr's suspecting infection and have SPD setting in. It's so bloody painful!

Stephiewoo · 19/04/2018 10:38

SPD diagnosed at 15 weeks for me. Can't do much about it though. Walking little and often is helpful.

somersetsinger · 19/04/2018 12:50

Hello to all the newbies! Thanks for updating us, birdie. It sounds like the news is as positive as it could be at the moment.

I'm also hopping on the SPD bus. I think I had it towards the end of last pregnancy but didn't do anything about it. This time, I felt pain at 20 weeks on the stairs and have self-referred for physio. First appointment next week, so I will find out it my self-diagnosis was right. In the meantime, I'm trying to follow NHS advice as much as possible. DD is not impressed about me constantly declining to pick her up, but it's just a little taster of what's to come when no. 2 arrives!

BertieBotts · 19/04/2018 15:12

Oh no ladies, do take it easy, one of my friends didn't take that advice as seriously as she should have done and she ended up with problems after the birth as well :( It's important to rest and take all the support you can!

I have finished work for the week so I can relax and look forward to only 12 weeks left to go! Woo! It's blazing sunshine here, makes me a little bit anxious for the summer but currently I'm just thinking bring it on :) 28 degrees today until we get a thunderstorm on Monday. It currently looks like we're going to have a hot, humid, thundery summer here which is actually how I like it so that will be nice, especially after this miserable winter.

I went into a little second hand shop today I'd been seeing on my way to my morning class and it's lovely, great clothes in there for €1-3 each! I'll definitely go back there later on when we know what we've got left to buy.

Gem173 · 19/04/2018 16:56

I haven’t self referred to physio, I’m just gunna see how the pain goes. If it gets worse I will take action and make the appointment! Nice to know I’m not alone in the SPD department. I’m sat on the bus now and have pain in my right pelvic bone :( not to mention I smell kfc and am salivating like a dog😩

Glad everything’s okay so far @birdy am keeping my fingers crossed for you that he grows to the viable size.

Any tips for SPD sufferers other than walk often? Xx I will take all tips on board and hope the pain lessens

FallenAngel89 · 19/04/2018 19:57

My MW just said the more babies the more loose my joints are, she didn't mention physio or anything but I just take it easy and sit down a lot more Smile
Mmmm KFC! My local one hasn't had any wraps for at least a month and I'm craving a twister 😂

FallenAngel89 · 19/04/2018 19:58

Enjoy your rest @BertieBotts Brew

StrawberryLemonade · 19/04/2018 20:02

Gem I’d have a low threshold for seeing a women’s health physio to try and prevent things getting worse. You need to try and avoid anything that involves standing on one leg or separating your legs apart I think.
I saw physio on Monday and am suffering with pelvic girdle pain (thought was SPD last time but apparently it’s often misdiagnosed). Also consider a bump support belt - I got one on amazon and it helps transfer the weight of bump to your back and it is helping me a bit.

Gizzymum · 19/04/2018 20:38

Anyone with pelvic girdle pain or SPD please get referred to physio. It can help or at least try to stop it getting worse. There's no point suffering when there is help out there.

peterpanwendy · 21/04/2018 09:50

Anyone else absolutely loving this stage of pregnancy? I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and the anxiety and sickness of the first trimester feels like a distant memory! I finally have a tiny bump to show off and am loving every second of feeling her move.
I'm still having the anxiety worries and the occasional throwing up unexpectedly moment, I'm hot and exhausted at the end of the day and none of my clothes fit me but it's so worth it.
I feel so lucky every day I just can't wait to actually meet her 💞

BertieBotts · 21/04/2018 13:05

Me too :) But I think I'm lucky to have a relatively uncomplicated pregnancy so I can enjoy it. It must be hard if you have issues like SPD or bad sickness.

SpriteGirl · 21/04/2018 14:17

Once this anterior placenta allows me to feel my baby properly I will feel a bit happier.

At 24 I can now say I’m pretty sure I feel it everyday. And only in the last few days am I beginning to feel a bit more certain about what’s the baby and what’s all the other stuff going on in there.

peterpanwendy · 21/04/2018 16:44

I have an anterior placenta and had awful sickness up until about 15 weeks so definitely wouldn't say mines been smooth sailing but it's so lovely now it's all calming down 😍
