Hi everyone! I've been reading this thread for a while and finally decided to join mumsnet as I didn't have an account. I'm currently 22 +6 expecting my first baby and it's a girl :)
I would love to join the Facebook pregnancy group too as I'll be a new mum and in need of lots of advice :)

Gizzymum · 21/04/2018 21:47

@peterpanwendy I'm the opposite. I hate being pregnant - I think it's the loss of control over everything (the baby, your body etc) plus I'm incredibly impatient so having to go wait 40 weeks is not fun. And I'm ashamed to say Im one of the few with relatively straightforward pregnancies (no morning sickness). 😳

The baby at the other end is worth it though (it must be otherwise I wouldn't be putting myself through this again).

SpriteGirl · 21/04/2018 21:52

@Gizzymum I’ll def be glad when this baby is out of me and my body can be my own again. Except then I’ll be a milk bar!

Congratulations and welcome @szwidix89 😊

Gem173 · 21/04/2018 23:57

Anterior placenta and still haven’t felt anything. 22 weeks on weds, so still have time. But am getting worried that il get to 24 weeks and il have no movements :( on brighter note seen oh sis baby and he’s still very cute and cuddly so cheered me up. As first time Mum, my pregnancy has been smooth sailing. I too am getting a bump now and just having people see it is quite uncomfortable, only because I’m a private person and don’t really like people staring at my body. Hopefully work will be easier soon as il have duties taken off of me to relieve workload, but not sure if that’s gunna be soon enough! Got hell of a backache! Anyway this is my bump at 21 weeks +.. ps, ignore all the crap haha

Also have an anterior placenta, felt and saw his first proper kick 2 days ago but can then go without feeling much at all for a while, little tinker! He also likes to use my bladder as a cushion Grin
Has anyone else been eaten alive by bugs while the weather has been nice? I'm covered with huge bites and it's so uncomfortable! I don't usually hardly get any but I must be extra tasty atm 😂

peterpanwendy · 22/04/2018 08:43

@Gizzymum I can totally sympathise, the changing body is definitely the hardest bit right now, I'm having wardrobe crisis' most days where nothing fits properly or like it used to even on areas other than my tummy :( we're over half way now you can do it! Just think of the end result, it will be so worth it x

Welcome to the group @szwidix89 I'm also 22 weeks and expecting a girl as a first time mum! :)

@Gem173 I am totally with you 100% on hating people stare at my body i get so embarrassed! I haven't told half my colleagues about the baby and watching them guess by looking at my bulging belly is so awkward! I hope work eases up soon for you x

I am finding that at work people just look straight at my belly. I am not normally too self conscious but I seriously want to thump these people. It’s seems stranger because I am not really used to my bump myself yet so I feel a bit violated when people stare. But I’m prob guilty of looking at pregnant ladies bumps myself in the past.

I have a male colleague (not someone I work closely with) who actually asked me if my husband was happy about the pregnancy. I replied by saying “you may as well just ask me if it was planned or if it was wanted”. I mean what am I gona say, my husbands really unhappy and I’m going to discuss it with you! (For the record DH is very excited). People probably don’t mean to say such stupid things but seriously, one word: “congratulations”. Job done.

Emmasmum2013 · 22/04/2018 13:31

The woman on the checkout at Tesco asked me if I was having twins the other day. Blush

WaitingforToto · 22/04/2018 13:34

I told my next door neighbour I was pregnant yesterday and she just said 'I thought as much, your face had got really fat'. Nice! Miserable old bag!

Gem173 · 22/04/2018 15:25

Gosh ladies all these people’s comments don’t make pregnancy as great as it sounds! I too get people at work staring straight at my belly and not at my face. Does get on my nerves, I keep looking at myself in the mirror and try to get my head around my size.

Stephiewoo · 22/04/2018 16:40

No one at my place of work would dare comment on my bump or anything else for that matter. They know what would happen!!!😂😂
People are so rude though, at the end of the day it's our bodies they are commenting on, which is pretty private. I'm not sure when it be acceptable to comment to pregnant women about their bump or weight gain.

I for one would have stern words, call me hormonal but it really winds me up.

lindyhopy · 22/04/2018 19:02

I am really enjoying this stage of pregnancy too. After a difficult start I am finally over the sickness and I am enjoying buying things for the baby. I have had a lot more energy these last two weeks too, maybe this is where the 'nesting' is meant to kick in?? Hope you all have a good week x

Gizzymum · 22/04/2018 20:35

@WaitingforToto I wonder if you live the other side of my neighbour 🤔
I've an 11 month old and she mentioned that I must be back at work soon. I told her I wasn't as I'd be going on maternity leave for another baby instead. She asked if it was planned. I said it was. She said "oh well, it's done now. You'll just have to deal with it." 😱

She's always been tactless - after my wedding she mentioned how "those skinny size 10 people get it easy when it comes to choosing wedding dresses, unlike us" (meaning me and her). My wedding dress was size 8, so she effectively said I looked fat in my wedding dress. I try to avoid her as much as possible.

WaitingforToto · 22/04/2018 21:03

Blimey @Gizzymum what on earth is wrong with people?! Definitely best ignored. I'm not very good at thinking on my feet but I really wish I would have said to her 'if you've nothing nice to say, I suggest you keep your mouth shut in future'.

Gizzymum · 22/04/2018 21:08

@WaitingforToto I think my face said it all when she made the comment about the baby as she quickly tried to back track. Ive never been able to hide what I'm thinking - my face is like an open book 🤣

StrawberryLemonade · 23/04/2018 06:20

People keep asking me if it’s twins too and commenting on my huge bump! I don’t really mind though cos they’re all lovely at work and it’s their way of showing an interest.
I’m 24+6 I can’t believe how fast the time is passing at the moment. Baby had a quiet day yesterday but I felt plenty of movement last night so was reassured. I think it keeps moving position cos keeps having phases of kicking in different locations!

Gem173 · 23/04/2018 15:15

God work is so hard, I’m tired, my back is killing and I’m always hungry! What am I gunna do when I get bigger 😩 roll on 13th August when my mat leave starts !

peterpanwendy · 23/04/2018 21:41

@Gem173 I'm with you there :( it sucks!!!

OP posts:
BeesKnees9 · 24/04/2018 07:52

@Gem173 I am starting to think we are twins Grin I am 22 weeks + 1, also have an anterior placenta and haven’t felt any kicks yet and will be starting maternity leave on the 13th August haha!

Emmasmum2013 · 24/04/2018 09:03

The 'twins' comment made me a bit paranoid. So I started googling 22 week bump pics and I don't think I'm particularly big! Maybe my dress wasn't particularly flattering on that day, or the woman at Tesco was just a cow?

This pregnancy is kicking my arse. I had 2 migraines on Sunday! Normally I'll get one once every six months or so. 2 in one day is really odd for me. So yesterday I couldn't get my head off the pillow and had the day off work.

Back in today but my head still feels really foggy and throbs when I move. That, and my skin is terrible and face is getting really fat.

I can't wait for this baby to be in the cot!!

YouCantBeSirius · 24/04/2018 09:22

I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and I've not had anyone comment on my bump yet. I think most people think I'm just fat Grin.

birdy1978 · 24/04/2018 09:33

I am expecting twins and am getting a bit annoyed by all the ‘you’re not that big yet are you?’ comments. I feel enormous, and I’m definitely bigger than this point last time. Even my husband has commented that my bump doesn’t seem to be getting bigger :-(

BertieBotts · 24/04/2018 09:58

I think it's quite normal for the bump to go through spurts and not grow much in between. Mine seemed to "pop" out and then hasn't done much since then.

BertieBotts · 24/04/2018 11:18

How are you doing birdy? Are things going well?

Gem173 · 24/04/2018 13:16

@BeesKnees9 yeah snap ! Hopefully one of us will feel kicks soon! Sorry to be tmi guys but sometimes when I walk some wee comes out. It’s really frustrating that I just haven’t got control of my bladder!
Today people have said I’ve gotten bigger. My belly hasn’t just ‘popped’ but has been getting bigger gradually. I’m thinking what happens if it ‘pops’ now, I’m already quite big ish ! I don’t want to be bigger! How will I roll out of bed at night?!?
