As we enter month 5 of our pregnancies we need a 5th thread!

Good luck to everyone having their 20 week scan this/next week :)

I can feel it clearly from the outside, but not sure if that's just because I have the internal feelings as well.

Over the Easter holidays we've had a meal with friends and then family visiting so a huge chilli and then we went out for Chinese buffet and I've literally put on 1.5kg in about 2 days!! Blush I hope my doctor isn't cross! My bump looks properly enormous now as well so I am thinking maybe the baby has just had a growth spurt too. I've got the insatiable hunger back - have never felt hungry WHILE eating before Hmm and have started to feel lightheaded/faint if I go too long without eating.

peterpanwendy · 05/04/2018 23:58

@BertieBotts don't worry about weight gain, does your doctor weigh you? I haven't been weighed since my 12 week scan! Forgot that I'd be weighed at my 20 now I'm scared 🙈

I have felt them from the outside but I'll tell him it could be another few weeks :) he doesn't really know what he's feeling for (nor did I until a few weeks ago!) so that makes it more tricky. Soon I will be complaining she won't stop moving and I can't sleep etc. Can't help feeling impatient now!

Can’t believe how quickly time is passing! 20 week scan next Thursday when I’ll be 20+3.

Those of you with other children or who are having their 2nd - can I ask you a question?

Do you sometimes feel guilty about having another baby? For the past few weeks I’ve felt so guilty, like I’m going to be taking my time and attention away from DS. Will he think I’m replacing him?

We’re so close and happy as a unit of 3 that the thought of changing that scares me. What if my relationship with DS isn’t the same?

I actually cried all over DH about it last night Blush He reassured me that we’re giving DS a wonderful gift of a sibling and that at his age DS will never remember life before his sibling but.....I feel so confused by it all!

Also I can’t imagine loving anyone as much as I love DS. Then I feel guilt towards the new baby, what if I can’t/don’t love them as much as I love DS? Sad

I’m hoping it’s just all hormones!! Grin

BertieBotts · 06/04/2018 11:16

Yeah I know, they never weighed me in the UK but they do it every time here! Plus check iron levels which I hate as it's a tiny finger prick. Better than a big needle but annoying still.

Apparently the how can I love DC2 as much as DC1 is a common fear and completely unfounded :)

Emmasmum2013 · 06/04/2018 11:39

Team pink!!! All good and she’s all healthy :) can’t wait now. Another girl... ooor dad is well out numbered now!! I’ll post a pic soon when I can.

Emmasmum2013 · 06/04/2018 12:23

Here she is, sucking her fingers.

Awww! That's lovely :)

StrawberryLemonade · 06/04/2018 16:18

Lovely scan pics!
Yes thesleeperandthespindle I have the same feelings. How will I be able to give enough to dd when I have the baby too.will I love them both the same... But everyone tells me it’ll be fine!

Gem173 · 06/04/2018 16:35

Aww congrats @Emmasmum! Beautiful girl!

somersetsinger · 06/04/2018 16:42

Cute photo, Emmasmum. Glad your scan went well.

Sleeper, I do find it hard to imagine loving another baby as much as I love DD, but I also couldn't anticipate the strength of my feelings for her. I think she will mostly love having a sister as she is very interested in babies. And when they are older, they will both have someone to play with. My sister and I are close and I like that we shared our childhood and can reminisce together.

Emmasmum2013 · 06/04/2018 20:05

Thanks everyone! It was an amazing scan.
I was also told I have an anterior placenta so that explains why I mainly feel movement really low down and at the sides.

My plan for making time for DD when the new baby is here, is just to make sure that when the baby is napping I try and do things with DD and have a good hour set aside on an evening after the baby is asleep to do something nice. I think I’ve felt more guilty about being pregnant really because I’ve been so ill and tired. I’ve hardly been able to do anything with DD. But I’m getting back to normal now and once the baby is in a good sleeping routine then we can have loads of fun!

Hi ladies,
I haven't posted in such a long time. I'm not on the Facebook group either. I finally made it to 20 weeks.

We had a private scan done at 17 weeks because I was going to be overseas for my anomaly scan so I had to cancel it. I'm going privately when I get back.

This photo was taken at 17+4

Little girl.

Minkies what a fantastic photo!

I know I sound like a total grandma but I am so amazed by how detailed the scans are now. I dug out DS's old 20 week scan from 2008 today and the difference really is astounding. I'll do a comparison when we get one.

Minkies13 · 07/04/2018 17:23

I've found that the photos from the private scans are so much clearer than the NHS scans...

But you're right, the detail is great

StrawberryLemonade · 08/04/2018 07:35

My photos aren’t as clear this time and nhs ones are much better than private! At my 20 week scan though baby wasn’t looking in the right direction so couldn’t get a good profile shot. Last time my pics were amazing of thumb sucking etc!

Kiki275 · 08/04/2018 08:45

Morning all. I went out last night and had a lovely evening, but I've never felt so miserable getting ready before. I'm a big girl, say 14 top and 16 bottom - lifelong weightwatcher/ yo-yoer. I've always had a shape though... massive arse but relatively small waist and biggish boobs. Now belly has overtaken boobs, arse is increasing and I feel horrendous... like a really wonky conference pear that wouldn't be considered under EU regs. Don't think it helped I started an argument with DH so he couldn't reassure me. I also know it's hormones and just a phase etc. Anyone else like this?x

Minkies13 · 08/04/2018 10:25

My body is changing very quickly. I can't believe how fast my belly is growing. Im short and have a very short torso so I'm all belly. I'm starting to embrace it though.

I've just discovered after talking to a friend that packaged salads are a no go. I've lived in packaged salads from m&s since the second tri. Whoops. Am I the only person who didn't know this?

BertieBotts · 08/04/2018 12:17

I think it's those bagged salads because they can be a listeria risk, I don't think the M&S ones are the same.

jemily · 08/04/2018 16:02

Afternoon all.

First time posting (just joined) just fancied checking in with others due on August.
We are due on 12th August with our first (little girl). 22 weeks today and she's really starting to kick now. Though still very varied from day to day. I understand this is normal?

Hope everyone is well

Smile
BertieBotts · 08/04/2018 18:53

Hi jemily and welcome to MN. Yes I think it's normal for kicking to be varied at first, it should settle into a more regular pattern by 24-28 weeks I think?

peterpanwendy · 08/04/2018 22:03

Im with you there @Kiki275 I am also a serial dieter and am finding the thought of weight gain scary. My shape is changing too, becoming more hourglass than pear which I'm not used to! I went out with some work colleagues last week and just felt hideous and so self conscious :(

We just need to remind ourselves why we're doing this! Xx

Whooping cough vaccine this morning I am SO nervous 😟
Slept so badly I was wide awake at 4am no reason why.

The weight gain is very scary. I had let myself go a bit before I got pregnant and was already at the heaviest I'd ever been. I intended to diet and get back on track when we were trying for a baby but then we got pregnant straight away! Now I'm really regretting how lazy and greedy I was and I'm dreading having to get rid of all the weight after pregnancy. I think I've already put on about half a stone, at least.

Pereie · 09/04/2018 09:22

I am seriously worried about weight gain too.

I have put on a stone and a half and I am a little horrified but not surprised as all I've done is eat crap and sit still. At the moment I am only 3 pounds over what I should be at this stage, but from now on I need to keep myself in check. Gutted 😂

Pereie · 09/04/2018 09:24

Best of luck @peterpanwendy, it seems to be hit or miss with how you will feel after the jab. Get it on your right arm so you can still sleep on your left. It will ache for a few days x
