Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BadZelda · 12/05/2007 08:40

Me: 35 yesterday. Still feels like forever to go...although in two weeks time I'm sure it will feel quite imminent!

DD's watching c-beebies now

bumperlicious · 12/05/2007 08:40

Morning all, definitely giving the baby show a miss today, probably for the best too as I can't walk around v much without being in pain, and getting tired and cranky!

Going to pop into town and do some nice shopping instead. Trying to convince myself that I don't need this ! I already have a beautiful pink changing bag that my mum bought me, but pink won't go with everything and I think I might need a red one! Argh - got to stop shopping soon!

foxybrown · 12/05/2007 08:47

but its reduced Bumper!

bumperlicious · 12/05/2007 08:59

I know - I just saw that today! Well, it's just begging to be bought now isn't it?

BadZelda · 12/05/2007 09:04

Hey that's pretty nice and cheap. You lot make great personal shoppers

foxybrown · 12/05/2007 09:07

Well, you were saying only yesterday BZ that a personal shopper was just what you needed!

hollyandalice · 12/05/2007 09:17

Morning!

Lovely bag bumper! I cannot buy any more bags since my Cath Kidston one was rather expensive!

My dd has just pooed in a reusable nappy! I hate that, it's so difficult to deal with! Maybe I'll leave it to dp. On second thoughts maybe I won't, there'll be poo all over the house!

bumperlicious · 12/05/2007 09:58

Do you use reusables as a rule Holly? Thinking of trying them out. The local nappaccino group give you a month's trial to see if you get on with it, thinking of giving it a go.

hollyandalice · 12/05/2007 10:30

No, not as a rule bumper. I have run out of disposables! I started out with good intentions, but they all went down the pan! Disposables are so easy, you take them off and chuck them away! Reusables are great if it's only wee, but pooey cloth nappies are a pita! They are also really thick and bulky and not as absorbant as disposables. My dd woke up this morning absolutely soaking wet, poor lamb! I would love to use cloth nappies all the time, but I am lazy! I'll try them with new lo, but I think I'll prob use disposables at night.

daisybump · 12/05/2007 10:42

My, you lot are up and about early this morning. I've packed my boys off to the barbers and just having a coffee and some chocolate before starting the dy...only got up 10 minutes ago, hae been languishing in bed with cup after cup of tea and a good book.

Bumper...I had a look at that bag in Boots and although its a good size, it looks really plasticky. I'd suggest looking at it in person before you take the plunge. I'm thinking about one of these ...but from eBay...I wouldn't pay full price...well I would, but DH would go bananas

Bras...I read somewhere (think it was bravado website) that whatever your measurement at about 37-38 weeks, you should go down a back size and up a cup size....I've ordered some Bravado bras as they have a bit of growing room in them. Plan to use them in the early days when it all gets a bit huge and explosive, and then get some nice ones when its all calmed down a bit. If you look on the bravado website they have some good fitting tips.

We're sorting out the nursery today so I can get things unpacked and see exactly what I have and haven't bought...then I'm going to pack my hospital bag...

Had a long chat with DH last night about the pros and cons of an elective c-section, and am thinking that I want to go down that route now......means I could have bub by the end of May as I think they like to do it about a week to 10 days pprior to your due date. We'll see what they have to say on Wednesday.

Mammoth post....sorry

catsuitgirl · 12/05/2007 10:42

Morning all - just caught up on all the drama and intrigue of past few days! Quite pleased I missed the placenta debate (euuugh) - BZ, I've also been getting a bit of morning sickness (evening sickness, actually) - haven't thrown up, just been really off my food.

BUT, scan revealed baby growing very well (still a little bit small for dates but nothing to worry about) and doc says that best thing I can do is try to 'induce' birth myself before he tries to do it at 38/39 weeks. So, have DH lined up for hot sex, hot curry... any other ideas?!

daisybump · 12/05/2007 10:49

Hi Catsuitgirl....you could try fresh pineapple (or better...feed lots of pineapple to DH as it enhances the natural prostaglandins in sperm....and if you missed this discussion the other week, apparently its better administered orally than topically )....clary sage is supposed to be a good homeopathic remedy, but I would take advice about that from a proper homeopath as its potent stuff.....lots of exercise......evening primrose oil (topically applied to your cervix ?? is best)

There were loads more, but I can't remember them all now....Holly...can you remember?

I've also been getting sickness and generally throw up if I brush my teeth or bend over too quickly. Since bub has engaged I'm constantly hungry as well, but trying to limit what I eat as I've done OK on the weight gain so far and don't want to spoil it all now.

daisybump · 12/05/2007 10:50

Remind me again...why are you being induced?

BadZelda · 12/05/2007 10:51

urggh: they suggest I need to wear this kind of bra with my bust size: double plus . That is grim! Don't care what colour it comes in, I would still look like I had a giant sausage strapped around my chest!

BadZelda · 12/05/2007 10:53

Great news about your scan CSG - surely that is really soon...reality sinking in that babies are going to start flying out in the not-too-distant future...

daisybump · 12/05/2007 10:56

Hi Again Sneeple....didn't mean to be rude and ignore you.....enjoy your maternity leave and keep popping in.

Those are the ones I've ordered BadZ....I'm going for substance over style in the early days .....I think that's just a bad photo, I've seen that bra elsewhere on slimmer models and it doesn't look too bad. I just remember the pain and discomfort from last time and want to be sure I'll be comfy. They look OK for sleeping in as well. When you need a G-cup there's not a lot of choice out there!

BadZelda · 12/05/2007 10:57

Raspberry leaf tea as well I suppose. Don't know if it works but I drank it from 36 weeks last time, and had a fairly quick labour at 38+6 with no tearing, etc? (or could have been the heels I was wearing at a nye party the night before, and staggering home at 4 in the morning...)

BadZelda · 12/05/2007 11:00

Yeah I know Daisy: a frustration for me even when not pregnant...off the peg clothes never fit me properly. Got one from Rigby and Peller last time, which actually fits and gives quite a nice shape - was £30 though...

daisybump · 12/05/2007 11:01

I'd heard that RLT makes your uterus more efficient and speeds up the dilation process, but I'm not sure it brings labour on any quicker? I started taking it on Thursday, but if I'm thinking of a section, don't know if I should bother. Mind you the tub says that its a general tonic for your uterine muscles, so it can't do any harm can it?

pinguthepenguin · 12/05/2007 11:01

I'm up, bit only just- I managed to devour a cream cake already. Bad huh?

daisybump · 12/05/2007 11:04

Mine aren't too bad when not pg...34E/F. I'm now at 38F...but I know I'm going to have what DH affectionately calls a "mono-bust" until things have settled down milk-wise. I'll get measured in Bravissimo after the first few weeks have passed and I'll feel like looking vaguely normal again.

I've got a wedding on july 7th and as well as the dilemma of what to wear/what will fit...there's the whole underwear issue as well, as maternity bras aren't exactly low cut slinky affairs are they?

sneeple · 12/05/2007 11:05

I got 2 bras this week at the Bravissimo shop... 38J :| no pretty feeding bras for me just yet!

daisybump · 12/05/2007 11:05

Right off for a shower and to get on with the day before the boys get back and catch me on here...I promised I wouldn't spend all weekend gassing

Happy shopping

daisybump · 12/05/2007 11:06

J ?????? yikes!

sneeple · 12/05/2007 11:07

ooo Daisybump I have a wedding on the 10th Aug (have checked they are really sure about me bringing a 2 month old ;)) and have been wondering if you can actually get a nice dress/outfit that allows you to breastfeed... I suspect the answer is 'not without spending a load of money'.
