Oh good @Northernbeachbum I was going to say take your OH or your mum to fight your corner in case you get put off in the meeting itself.

@northern I’m booked in for an elcs. When I arrived the mw did my wee dip and blood pressure etc and then asked why I was there. I said I was there to book in for a elcs and she just said to wait there and she’d get the paperwork ready for the consultant who happily signed off. I hope your hospital is as accommodating.

When are you all finishing work? I’m counting down now!!

ClareB83 · 11/04/2018 06:41

Two weeks and three days to go!! Hoping to only actually go in for 7 more days though including today. I've been working from home the last two days.

RockinRobinTweets · 11/04/2018 07:15

Oh that’s not long at all Clare! What date are you booked in for delivery?

I’ve got just over 3 weeks left and then 4ish weeks til baby, I dont know my cs date yet though

ClareB83 · 11/04/2018 07:48

Haven't got my date yet but it'll be sometime between 4-10 May (my EDD is 1st June but identical twins come out between 36 and 37 weeks).

So somewhere between 3 weeks 3 days and 4 weeks 2 days til the day!!! Seems a lot sooner writing it down😬

OP posts:
ClareB83 · 11/04/2018 07:51

So I'll have somewhere between 6 days and 13 days of maternity leave before the babies get here.

The first four days are annual leave because I thought if my c section was booked for the end of that window I'd cancel the leave.

That seems hilarious now, I'm so huge and ready to finish.

OP posts:
RockinRobinTweets · 11/04/2018 08:19

I know what you mean. I do feel a bit silly finishing at 35w but I’m already huge and so uncomfortable, I might as well use my leave beforehand. I have to use it or lose it anyway.

When will you get your cs date? They’ll call me 2-3 weeks before with a date.

ClareB83 · 11/04/2018 09:13

I should get my date at twin clinic next week. If I don't I think I'll throw a hissy fit as I'll be 33+5 and you're meant to get it at 32-33 weeks!

Heregoeseverything · 11/04/2018 12:56

Wow @ClareB83 , that's so soon, how exciting!

I'm planning to finish work 2 weeks before my C-section.

I've got stretch marks Sad despite religiously rubbing in expensive snake oil every night! Slightly alarmed that they are here already and I have another 11 weeks or so to go... worried I will ultimately resemble the Tube map Shock

RockinRobinTweets · 11/04/2018 13:29

They fade to nothing here so try not to worry too much.

Heregoeseverything · 11/04/2018 13:36

Thanks @Rockin , how long did it take for yours to fade? I had them quite badly in puberty and it feels like they were angry-looking and purple/red for at least 3-4 years, albeit time did seem to pass more slowly back then! My mum escaped them in pregnancy so I was desperately holding out hope...!

Northernbeachbum · 11/04/2018 13:56

I had them badly as a teenager too but they're pretty much invisible now @heregoes

@clareb83 wow really not long until the boys are here then, how exciting!!!!

So I've just come out of the meeting and the CS was approved easily, hardly had to put up a fight. Had to acknowledge the risks and it was booked in for the 8th June without much hassle at all!

Heregoeseverything · 11/04/2018 14:07

Wonderful news @northernbeachbum , how exciting! Some of us lucked out with our health trusts, though it makes me so cross that so many other women are forced to beg and plead!

I had a (nice, but not very close) friend ask me to tell her as soon as I get my C-section date... I told her I wouldn't be sharing it in as friendly and polite a way as I could, but she hasn't replied...!

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 11/04/2018 14:08

@Heregoeseverything My dm swears by rubbing lemon juice into stretch marks. Haven't tried it myself but I don't think dm has any or at least any which are visible so maybe it works (or not).
I got 5 with ds, I think they faded along the same sort of time line as my emcs scar, so maybe 5-6 months?

@ClareB83 I get my section date next week too, one of the few benefits of my mental health issues. It's normally 36 weeks for singleton pregnancies before they'll even think of giving you a date and I'll only be 32 weeks. Plus I'm getting the first slot on the day to "limit running away time" according to the marathon running for fun consultant. Climbing stairs exhausts me at the moment because of the baby's position... the thought of running around a hospital is enough to make me want to go to bed and sleep for a month.

@Northernbeachbum Congratulations. Glad it was so much easier than you expected.

RockinRobinTweets · 11/04/2018 14:23

I think the 6 month mark for them to fade sounds about right from memory.

I’m so jealous that some of you have your dates already!

jadeward89 · 11/04/2018 16:03

I’m glad that they gave you the cs without a problem @Northernbeachbum. I’m still trying to get the consultant and my midwife to agree to me being induced on my due date, they have told me we will discuss it when I’m 37 weeks. I’ve always gone over and labours got progressively longer and harder, I know an induction won’t necessarily help with them being long/hard but I think for my piece of mind it will help.
Saw my Mw yesterday as I was concerned about movements again and have been reassured and it’s probably to do with my placentas placement. Turns out baby is head down already, which I half expected after painful movements early hours of yesterday morning. I’m also measuring ahead but she wasn’t concerned and will just see me in two weeks. Might bring up the induction again then Smile

Northernbeachbum · 11/04/2018 16:45

@heregoes, I've told select people but anyone else will be told a week later than it actually is if they ask to get them off my back. It's a private thing so I'm hoping no one really asks

@Dinosaurs I've not heard the lemon thing before, I'll use that if it comes up as I can't see it doing any harm!

Cookie1831 · 11/04/2018 17:20

Oh wow some of you are getting so close it’s exciting! Feels like I still have forever to go x

ClareB83 · 11/04/2018 21:22

Boom! Good news @Northernbeachbum I'm glad they made things easy for you and you got a date - exciting!

And that's hilarious @Dinosauratemydaffodils I struggle to get out of low chairs, I won't be running anywhere.

Went out for dinner after working in the office today - feel so swollen and tired now. I don't even think they can be called ankles anymore. 🐘

SparklesandBubbles · 11/04/2018 22:18

@Northernbeachbum so pleased you've got what you wanted and didn't have to put up much of a fight.

@ClareB83 not long for you now - exciting!

I've been told I'm unlikely to go over my due date. Part of me is seeing that as a final date but equally I'm quite keen to give birth naturally if I can - first experience, although not terrible, wasn't what I'd planned at all! That said I'm already feeling totally exhausted and massive - spent most of morning in bed today sleeping. 6 weeks still seems like a long way away!!

Northernbeachbum · 12/04/2018 08:16

@cookie1831 it still feels so surreal to me, to believe we will actually have a baby!

@clareb83 you're doing so Well, it must be incredibly tough growing 2 small humans! It's nearly the weekend so I hope you'll get a chance to relax!

@sparklesandbubbles I'm the same, 6 weeks still sounds a long way away but then I'm trying to enjoy this time as much as possible

xxmissbrightsidexx · 12/04/2018 10:15

Hey ladies, hope youre all okay & bumps as well, havent checked in here for a while 🙂
32w today, the countdown is getting shorter and i cant believe how quickly time is flying now x

ClareB83 · 12/04/2018 11:06

Had a scan today. DH and I thought the boys had a growth spurt last week and seems we were right as they're estimated at 4lb and 4lb9 at 32+6.

I know the weight estimates are often way out but at this rate they might not even need the tiny baby stuff I've bought. They could be 6lb premies!

OP posts:
ClareB83 · 12/04/2018 11:08

And thanks @Northernbeachbum. I'm WFH the rest of today which should be relaxing but SIL and nephews aged 3 and 6 are visiting this weekend so might not be that relaxing.

I have said if I get too tired I will leave DH to it and SIL is bringing food with her, so they're not expecting me to be some hostess with the mostest.

Heregoeseverything · 12/04/2018 14:45

Thanks for the feedback re stretch marks ladies - I think I can cope with 6 months if they do fade that soon, not least as I will still likely have a black marker linea negra, C-section overhang and scar etc etc... on reflection the stretch marks may be as noticeable as a small scratch on a car that's just been crashed head-first into a brick wall...!

So glad your little boys are well @ClareB83. My friend had twins who were 6lb and 8lb...

I watched that OBEM episode on catch-up, so many tears, can't cope!
