Uuuuuurghh! But you’ve waited aaaaages! Big hug.

justtowarm · 27/04/2018 17:10

I had my 16 week appointment, I've had on-going bleeding but baby's heartbeat was strong.

The midwife suspects that I have grade 3 or 4 placenta previa which is pretty scary and has put me on bed rest!!! I'm hoping she is wrong and it's just my cervix.

However the midwife and the maternity unit she liaised with seemed pretty sure it's placenta previa. They said wont know for sure until 20 week scan but they will listen to the heartbeat weekly in case of late miscarriage 😱.

So all I can do is lay about and worry! I hope everyone is having a less stressful time than this x

justtowarm · 27/04/2018 17:11

Oh @RhiBee29 just seen so sorry you have to wait even longer for your results!!!

2ndPGchimp · 27/04/2018 17:27

oh @justtowarm that must be really scary. Do you knit? Might be a good thing to do to keep mind from straying and stop fingers from straying to doctor google.

Sorry you have to wait even longer @rhibee

justtowarm · 27/04/2018 17:42

Thanks @2ndPGchimp I am the works worst knitter but I do crochet. I have optimistically started a baby shawl today :)

Hey @Milknosugar1 yeah he came because we were worried that no one was giving us answers about the bleeding. We are ok just hoping that it's not the placenta previa and if it is it's not as bad as she thinks. My midwife was really good gave us loads of info about what to expect and what to watch out for. The scary bit (apart from the obvious worrying the baby won't be ok) is if the bleeding continues I could spend a lot of time in hospital and that make me feel a bit sad for my little boy he is only 2 and just won't understand (plus I will feel guilty and miss him)

@justtowarm really hope the 20 week scan brings good news for you. Try to occupy your mind and refrain from google. I'm listening to podcasts, My Dad Wrote a Porno is hilarious if you haven't listened and very distracting.

justtowarm · 27/04/2018 21:49

@Milknosugar1 I think they could scan sooner and see the placenta location but won't because it wouldn't change the advice they give, which is bed rest.

I think it's partly because if things do go wrong because of placenta previa at this stage there is nothing that they can do. If I get any pain or the bleeding becomes really heavy I have to contact GP or go to A+E out of hours and in my notes it's says that would be for admission.

After 24 weeks I think they can do things that would help the baby survive if it looked like it was causing problems and leading to premature labour. To be honest I'm just not thinking about that to much and am just hoping it's something else that is not serious like I just have a bleedy cervix.

I do work, I'm signed off by the GP because of the bleeding. Work have been really nice and supportive.

It's helpful typing this all out :)

justtowarm · 27/04/2018 21:50

Thanks @RhiBee29 I will give it a listen :)

Ooo great suggestions @Milknosugar1 I also wasted years of my life on the sims and others.

I can't believe there is a January board already! X

EffRam · 28/04/2018 13:06

@justtowarm sorry to hear that, fingers crossed that it's the cervix or at least it's moved out of the way at the next scan! I also enjoy crochet and knitting, and vote for theme hospital!! old school but so easy to lose days to it.

@ATP1000 I think that's a really valid point about us being hyper aware of bodies. I am borderline obsessed with taking photos of myself and comparing them to previous ones. I think it's because I am showing but not hugely and obviously it's gradual so then I think am I imagining it, no one is noticing, but to me it feels really obvious! I have just got my first maternity wear from John Lewis, and I'm particularly pleased with the jeans as they look and fit just like my old ones (except round the top of course!). I also got some chinos for work stuff and they are a good fit but they don't feel like 'me' and I think that's the other conflict - staying myself when everything else is changing wildly!

Cluelessss · 29/04/2018 07:18

Sorry I haven’t seen any of the before posts, so sorry for just jumping in. Im due mid October with my first baby. We booked to go to Monaco in June for 6 nights, but I have now awoken to the news that France is on red alert for tiger mosquitos which carry zika and other diseases... should I definitely be cancelling my holiday? Typical that we chose to stay close to home to avoid this happening..

RhiBee29 · 29/04/2018 08:01

Oh no @Cluelessss I'm going to France for a week in July. I'm staying in Normandy so very northerly, maybe too cold for mosquitoes? Where did you see the alert?

Cluelessss · 29/04/2018 08:05

@Rhibee29 so it’s say they can carry it, not definitely. Sorry to panic anyone. I saw it on the sky news app and it’s mainly in the south of France

RhiBee29 · 29/04/2018 08:33

Phew, thanks @Cluelessss I can't take anymore scares this pregnancy!

EffRam · 29/04/2018 09:00

@milknosugar1 ooh thanks for that. I had set reminders manually in my calendar but it was annoying me that it made me look really booked up and it's actually just kegels haha!!

lovesrunning · 29/04/2018 14:53

@justtowarm been thinking of you and sorry to hear you had such a scare. What have you been up to today? Are there any books you’ve been meaning to read for ages?

@cluelessss I’d say you’ve got time to decide what to do without needing to make a decision now. Keep an eye on the situation and on the FCO travel advice page. They haven’t mentioned it yet..

@effram I’m starting not to feel like ‘me’ too and finding it weird to look down and see a little bump. I’m hoping I’ll embrace it once it’s obviously a bump and not just putting on weight - or when I feel kicks and realise it’s a miracle and I go all Mother Earth.

Also, are we pronouncing ‘kegels’ to rhyme with ‘bagels’? I’ve never heard the word, only seen it written.

justtowarm · 29/04/2018 15:12

@lovesrunning thanks for checking in. Had a scary night/day. Had heavy bleeding overnight and passed a massive clot (sorry to much information but it was the size of my palm!!)and had lots of cramping like contractions this morning. So I've spent the day in a+e and then the gynae ward. Babies heart beat was strong and my cervix is closed. They couldn't see why I was bleeding but didn't feel the need to arrange scan as nothing they can do if there is a problem. I'm just having the heartbeat checked weekly until the scan and was told to go back to the gynae ward if it happens again. I have open access to it so I don't have to go via a+e again if my GP is closed.

The doctor was really nice though she said some people do just bleed lots and they can never see why but there pregnancy progress normally. She also said they do have to keep checking in case of late miscarriage but it may be nothing. It all seems to be settling down again now.

I'm Feeing reassured. so now I'm at home I'm considering a nap :)

Hope you are all doing ok :)

Oh blimey @just - this little baby is putting you through it! So glad you’ve heard the heartbeat and everything looks good. That’s really promising. The doctors not being concerned would be the biggest relief. That and the fact you have a hotline to the unit now. Oh and I don’t think that will seem like ‘too much information’ as soon as we start giving birth and telling each other about it! Nap well and look after yourself x

@milk turns out you’re almost right - a quick search on YouTube (EYE opening!) reveals it actually rhymes with ‘eagles’ - although if you’re from a part of the country where seagulls sounds identical to eagles - slight difference in stress on last syllable - then you’ve been nailing it all along.

lovesrunning · 29/04/2018 16:53

PS are those the ones you’ll have to wash?
