Oh @justtowarm this baby is putting you through it already! Hope you're ok x

We've officially announced the news today, I felt really anxious about it but now that it's out it feels more real and I'm getting excited. DH brought down my maternity clothes from the loft, like a little treasure trove! Maternity tights, bras, dresses, jeans, tops...I can't remember half of the things in there so it feels like a whole new wardrobe.

@justtowarm that sounds so unpleasant. Glad you're home and feeling reassured now!

@lovesrunning @milknosugar1 I say to rhyme with seagulls too but you're right I've never heard it said out loud!!

Exciting on cloth nappies! I also want to use them, but there's a nappy library nearby so I think I might start with a few disposables and go and try them out when baby's here to find which ones fit!

We have spent the day with friends who have a nine week old today. It was great to have lots of cuddles but all the talk of what to come has actually made me quite anxious now we are on the way home - in case we have jinxed it, which I know is silly!!

Cluelessss · 30/04/2018 07:00

I hope everyone is doing well today, starting work at 6am is something I won’t miss when baby is here. Does anyone else know what they are having yet? I’m having an early scan today at 16 weeks to find out whether I’m having a boy or girl.. I definitely did not sleep a wink last night. due 16th of October

Hotchocolate86 · 30/04/2018 12:15

justtowarm it sounds like you’ve had a really stressful time recently. I hope things look up a bit and you can relax some more. I’d recommend getting stuck into a really good series of books while you’re on bed rest.
I tried cloth nappies last time but we didn’t get on with them. I was very disappointed as I really wanted to be able to use them.
I’m fully in maternity clothes now. I’ve put everything else out the way. I’ve got a fair size bump though and still feeling quite sick so it’s best not to have anything tight on my tummy.
I wish I was feeling movement. Occasionally I think I can feel something but it’s certainly not daily and sometimes I’m not even sure it’s baby. It does worry me as I felt regular movements by 17 weeks in my last pregnancy and I hoped this time it would be the same. Is anyone else getting movement?

Hotchocolate86 · 30/04/2018 12:16

We are not finding out what sex the baby is cluelesss. I don’t mind as I didn’t want to find out but it’s going to be a long wait!

Cluelessss · 30/04/2018 12:30

@Hotchocolate86 i seriously do not have the will power to wait till birth, I can’t even concentrate today

Belles86 · 30/04/2018 12:40

@Cluelessss don't know what we're having yet but finding out at 20 week scan in 3 weeks.. I also wouldn't be able to concentrate if I was you..:D

@Hotchocolate86 No movement yet (I don't think, but it's my first..) but despo to feel little one!

Cluelessss · 30/04/2018 12:45

@Belles86 I had a MMC just before Christmas, so it’s kind of just a bit of reassurance before my 20 weeks. I wish ultrasounds were every 2 weeks! Not long for you to wait either though!

sophkennedy · 30/04/2018 13:14

I'm only 14 weeks but feel like I have been feeling movement recently, it feels like little flutters

Belles86 · 30/04/2018 13:57

@Cluelessss of course, I'd want the same were I in the same boat. Look fwd to hearing back about your little bean :)

unicornchaser · 30/04/2018 14:19

Good luck on your scan @Cluelessss, it's exciting hearing people are now finding out what their wee baby is! 20 weeks is still just too far away for me!

Told SS (8yr) this weekend he is becoming a brother. Thought he was upset and unhappy, turns out he is just worried our dog won't get enough love & attention with a new baby. The things they worry about huh!

Has anyone had any regression of symptoms? Or start of them at 13/14 weeks? I had very little nausea but since hitting 13 weeks I've been so ill and struggling with food aversions. I was hoping since I was passed 12 weeks I had gotten away with it! Wishful thinking I guess!

lovesrunning · 30/04/2018 16:01

@unicornchaser that is so cute - what a kind little boy to be worrying about the dog. Rubbish luck you’ve started feeling sick :( my nausea mainly disappeared a few weeks ago although I still get the odd wave of it.

@cluelessss I’m due the same day as you! Popping in to find out on Thursday and can’t wait. Let us know how yours goes.

@hotchoc I’ve felt a few little weird sensations I’ve never had before so wondering if that’s what it is but it’s my first time so not sure.

lovesrunning · 30/04/2018 16:03

@milk you’re right, it’s far too glamorous a word. I’m considering re-branding them ‘foof crunches’.

ladydolly · 30/04/2018 16:39

For the last 4-5 days the baby movements have been quite intense given I'm only 18 weeks. Really strong, recognizable kicks. I'm terrified this will become quite painful as she/he gets bigger!!

2 weeks until our anomaly scan so we'll find out sex then.

I just had my consultant appointment and she was just great (although I don't think she'd read my previous notes) and booked my c section there and then. So weird to know what date our baby will arrive so early on! Already booked my mum in to look after dd2. We're not telling anyone else though. I asked if I would still be monitored for size since I measured 'normal' last time (DD was 10lb 3oz) and it was only at my 41 week appointment that the midwife said 'your baby might be too big for you to deliver' so I had no inkling until then despite having a giant bump. She happily booked me a 36 week growth scan. She made me feel so calm and happy with my decision and like she had loads of time for me. God bless the NHS!

twobambinos · 30/04/2018 16:48

@ladydolly glad it went well. Will you be still having an October baby or will it be September? 10lbs is a big size isn't it. Glad they will be monitoring later on.

@rhibee29 hope the results were OK.

@cluelessss best of luck with your scan. I can't wait to find out. Next week now.

twobambinos · 30/04/2018 16:49

@justtowarm hopefully the placenta will have moved up a bit by next scan. And that the next few weeks fly by for you.

ATP1000 · 30/04/2018 17:33

@justtowarm, I really hope you have a positive update at your next scan and in the meantime I hope you can rest a bit, although hard to take your mind off it all I’m sure. I would definitely be doing something crafty although I haven’t been able to knit since about week 8! I’m feeling so sick still, nausea went for a few days but is back properly, I’m 15 weeks. Goes away if I eat regularly. My sister had it the whole way through although she had preeclampsia and the baby was born at 32 weeks, both very healthy now though ☺️

I’m making some progress with getting used to putting on weight, having a slightly more obvious bump helps, although it by no means looks like a proper bump yet! The dress I sent the link to has helped me too as it’s not clingy or huge so I’m buying a few of those for work and I have a few other bits arriving soon. I have so many returns to do and most are only 14 days! I need to get organised!

Good luck with your results @rhibee29.

On Zika, it was worrying me as I travel a lot with work although I’m not allowed to fly now due to post op blood clot risk and medium risk preeclampsia ( pros and cons I suppose!!) I googled France and they had the same risk warning last year. It looks like they are concerned that people travelling from Zika regions will cause the disease to spread to the local mosquito rather than the disease being there right now. Obviously still a risk given the large amount of mosquitos again this year and people flying all over the world. There’s a map on google to show which regions in France have high mosquito rates. Even more for us to think about! This is the one time I won’t be complaining about cold British weather!

justtowarm · 30/04/2018 17:43

@Cluelessss good luck with your scan, I will find out this time. I found that finding out at birth last time a bit underwhelming as there was so much else going on. This time I want to be able to get excited about it. I don't have a preference either way so maybe that's why it didn't seem special to find out at birth last time (I just wanted to cuddle my baby).

Thanks everyone for your concern, I am still bleeding but it seems to have settled back to what it was. I have got myself a Doppler and am pretty confident I am finding the heartbeat (sounds like a galloping horse and different to my heartbeat and the swoshy placenta/blood vessel noises), it's massively reassuring.

Also reassuring is that the flutters I have been feeling seem to have turned into prodding kicks a few time over the last day or two. @ladydolly I know what you mean about them being strong this early. I'm only 16 and a half weeks. We will be uncomfortable at the end :) glad your appointment went well. The NHS are amazing!

justtowarm · 30/04/2018 17:47

@ATP1000 thank you, I had pre eclampsia last time, although right at the end of pregnancy and I was already term (let's hope I don't end up with it again 🙈). I don't think my body likes pregnancy 🙈.

I think I'm still just looking chubbier rather than pregnant most of the time :s

RhiBee29 · 30/04/2018 18:08

Still no results, it's really ruining this pregnancy. I feel so disconnected and too scared to enjoy it and relax.

justtowarm · 30/04/2018 18:58

@RhiBee29 I'm so sorry they still haven't got your results! Were they able to say when they might have them?

ladydolly · 30/04/2018 19:34

@rhibee could you go private for the peace of mind?

@twobambinos I'll be September now as due 1st Oct. Anything over 4.5kg is automatically consultant led, 10lb3oz is 4.7kg.

twobambinos · 30/04/2018 19:48

@ladydolly thats lovely as less time to wait. Im september too but on past experience it wil be more likely to be october. Im in ireland so i think things are different here for consultant based, definitely no harm in having some extra monitoring either way. my babies tend to be on the smaller side 6 and 7 lbs over due but this one may suprise me.

@rhibee29 the waiting is awful. hopefully soon.

@atp1000 i hope ZIKA stays well away we have a holiday to spain booked and its all that is getting me through this pregnancy at the moment.

has anyone started buying yet? I fell in love with a travel system last week when i was in mothercare but the price is extortionate really. however it does look amazing and dont have much to buy this time because we have highchair, crib, cot already so just need a new sterliser, bottles, mattress and the travel system.
