Congratulations @RhiBee29 :) xxx

lovesrunning · 26/04/2018 04:04

@effram thanks so much for the flying info. Super helpful and looks like I’ll be ok pending a certificate. Haha I might be tempted on the day you never know!

@ATP I wouldn’t worry too much about weight gain. As long as you’re feeling happy and healthy. It’s probably the only time we can let it go for a while eh?

I’m in Abu Dhabi, just down the road from Dubai.

daisychain07 · 26/04/2018 06:40

Wow this has been busy! Just trying to catch up. Congrats on everyone's scans, I'm 17 weeks and getting excited about 20 week scan!!

Soph- I was on tablets at about 15/16 weeks for sickness last time. I would just keep asking the gp. You do have to stop them later on in pregnancy but they may give you some relief, I feel your pain!

I am also a teacher, as I am due 2nd October, planning on only doing first couple of days in September (I'm part time) and then finishing at about 36/37 weeks. I was due to finish at 37 weeks last time but went into labour on my way to work at 36 weeks...it was an interesting 35 min journey down a dual carriageway with contractions 3 mins apart!!! I am very excited to have summer holidays at the end of pregnancy this year and thinking of that as an extension to maternity leave!!!!

Maternity clothes - do you know anyone a similar size who has been pregnant? Can you ask to borrow? My mat clothes have been to two of my friends since my first and the stash has been added to so it's like going shopping when I look in the bag for something to wear!

Happy Thursday everyone!

RhiBee29 · 26/04/2018 17:52

DS is so boisterous and doesn't understand why I won't play rough with him anymore, I'm sure once the baby news is announced everyone is going to talk to him about being a big brother. We're planning on announcing this weekend. I'll be 13+5. I wanted to hold off telling him until after 20wk scan but I think I'm going to have to tell him sooner. Has anyone else told their other children yet? DS is 3.5.

MamaL86 · 26/04/2018 18:26

@Rhibee congratulations on your scan Flowers. How old is your DS? We told my ds last week. He's taken it pretty well but the last couple of days he's started to get upset at the idea of having to share me, which is tough. I'm happy we told him when we did as I think he'll need some time to get his head around it. Like your ds he was also being too rough so felt it was best to tell him.

ATP1000 · 26/04/2018 18:27

Thanks @lovesrunning, I’m a bit down about gaining so much weight in only the first trimester. I lost a lot of weight last year going from a 14 to an 8/10. I did it healthily though lots of exercise but I think my body remembers how easy it is to be a 14 (and bigger soon!)
All the same I am enjoying eating some tasty food and definitely making the most of it although trying more to be healthy now that the nausea has nearly gone.
At this stage I know I can get fit again and I do feel better for being in the pool this week so that’s a start and I think will help if I can keep it going for a few months.
I’m still searching for maternity clothes that aren’t clingy or tent like!! I’m going to try the normal shops this weekend, hoping somewhere like phase 8 will have some stretchy work dresses.

@Rhibee sorry, just saw you said how old your ds is. Mine is 9, so a bit different

DwangelaForever · 26/04/2018 18:49

Had my 16 week appointment today, heart rate was wrote down as 120 - is this a bit low?

2ndPGchimp · 26/04/2018 19:39

@RhiBee29 we are having the same debate. My son will be 4 in June and is really boisterous. I am 16 weeks but haven't told him yet, I think the length of time is just too long to fathom at the moment. However we will ha e to soon as other people will start talking about it. Family and nursery workers know and understand why we haven't told him, but as strangers are noticing now, they will start saying things like 'are you looking forward to having a little brother or sister' so don't think we will be able to hold off too much longer!

I’ve told my 4 year old. She was looking strangely at my tummy! She’s quite excited and talks about it a lot. Also have to keep telling her to not jump on my tummy

MamaL86 · 26/04/2018 20:59

@lovesrunning exciting on your scan! I think it's hard to know if he'd fit in easily. He's quite confident but not massively sociable, he doesn't like football which is the usual icebreaker. Really tricky but pretty apprehensive about juggling that school run with a newborn - not sure any of them would get the best of me in that scenario.

@milknosugar thanks for your input - reassuring to hear that children are pretty adaptable at that age. It would definitely be good for him to potentially know some other children when he starts secondary. My main worry is whether he's likely to actually get a place - from what I understand there's generally less movement in ks2. Really tough as I know he won't want to move.

This also has nice floaty dresses and made in the uk!

@daisychain blimey that sounds dramatic! Hope it all went smoothly after that?

@atp try not to beat yourself up. You went through a lot with surgery and everything too. You’ve done a great job to be recovering from that and building a baby. Eat whatever you feel you need to look after yourself and the little hamster (my app tells me that’s what size they are this week!). You’ve already done a fab job losing weight before so your body and mind will also remember that. Try and increase exercise a bit if that helps and you feel good but otherwise try not to dwell on it. Those were some lovely websites by the way! Might go nuts there later.

@dwangela I’ve done a google for you - it says 120-160 is normal. Surely the doc would have said something if they were concerned...?

@mama - I totally agree with milk - you could contact local schools first and maybe even take him in to one for a half day taster to see how he gets on before you need to make any decisions? That might settle your mind that he’ll be fine. He might find plenty in common with other kids that doesn’t involve football, you never know. Good luck and keep us posted!

HannahCM · 27/04/2018 07:52

Hi haven't been on here in awhile and I'm just catching up with all the posts.

The Year 1 class I teach caught sight of my Baby On Board badge this week and worked out what it meant. Oops cats out of the bag now as of course they told their parents and once the parents know, EVERYONE knows.

Since I'm not due till end of Oct I might do my best to work till Oct half term but I have a really long commute from Surrey to London everyday so not sure I'll be able to manage it till that late. I have sparked the parents at the school to start questioning which classes/year groups the teachers will have next year, They are already worried about my replacement.

Im also having to fly a long haul flight in late August for my best friends wedding in the US. I'll be 31weeks for my return flight. Dreading it but fingers crossed I'll get the ok from GP as would hate to miss it!!! I paid a tiny bit extra when booking my flight to have the ability to reschedule for medical reasons which gives me some piece of mind. I also need to call my travel insurance company and find out if I'll still be covered under my current policy.

@ATP1000 if it's any consolation I feel the same. I lost a stone and had another to go to get to my goal (10st) and fell unexpectedly preggers midway. Despite weight loss/gain I've always been a 14 so I try not to focus too much on the size. My plan is to get more active (I've been doing hardly anything the past 12 weeks) and focus on the bits I can tone (my arms and butt) and maybe the rest will do what it wants. Also, on list of clothing, wrap dresses, anything that breaks up my 'wall of tit' and floaty cardi's.

Surgery's bound to have a big impact though, how was swimming? I feel like that's next on my list :)

ATP1000 · 27/04/2018 10:28

Thanks @lovesrunning and belles86 ☺️ I really have barely moved for 4 months and just starting back at the gym but very carefully this week. It’s made a difference in my mood and sickness though, might be a coincidence for the sickness as I’m 15 weeks now. Only nauseous when hungry now rather than all day!

I know what you mean about the wall of boob!! I work in an office so need to dress quite smartly. This dress has a good neckline which doesn’t make my boobs look massive! The scoop necks do me no favours!
The cap sleeve is also more flattering on me than the tight sleeve, the sleeve stops level with my boobs which adds to the wall effect!

Goodluck @rhibee29

Trying to find the right balance in weight is very hard. I think just be as sensible as you can and exercise if it helps. Plenty of walking after baby is born and a toning class will sort alot of it out.

I bought two trousers today
Alot ofthe stuff in the shops has elastic waists at the moment so not venturing to maternity stuff just yet. It's a delicate balance between normal and frump isn't it.

ladydolly · 27/04/2018 15:20

This baby is giving me a kicking today! I'm only 18 weeks and I feel this one less than my first who was basically wriggling 24 hours a day from 16 weeks. But when I do feel this one I really feel it!!
