@ladydolly I second that swimming is bad for those with Spd. I had it fairly badly with my first, when my pelvis separated it went lopsided/out of alignment and as the baby grew held it out of position. Swimming was particularly painful afterwards (especially breaststroke). floating around the pool was an amazing relief at the end though :)

ladydolly · 22/04/2018 15:49

@milknosugar what are your plans for the allotment when heavily pregnant/with a newborn? I only got mine when dd1 was 6 months. Already worried by how knackering it is!!

YY to just floating, greatest joy ever when the really heavy days come!!

elizastarbeth · 22/04/2018 17:19

On a good week, I go to weights class on Monday, spin class on Wednesday, then go for a run on Friday and Sunday. On a bad week (like this week) I walk to Greggs and get a sausage roll...

Would love to go for a swim, but my local pool is only open for lane swimming 8-9 or 9-10 in the evening, and there's no chance I'll still be awake then. Apparently Amazon prime has a pregancy yoga video available for free, keep on meaning to try that out.

@ladydolly &@miknosugar1 - Looking forwards to hearing how you get on with the allotments. I've only got a greenhouse, and I planted my tomatoes out yesterday. I think hubby will have to be the one to cut them down come October!

I've just put toms in my mini greenhouse today as well. I've gone for loads of squashes and easy stuff like beetroot, dwarf beans, strawberries. I did no dig last winter so will try and convince my dad to do that for me again next winter.

I joined my local hotel gym for the pool because I'm fairweather and the changing rooms are nice :)

Hope you're all holding up in the warm weather. DD1 is poorly so was in with me last night, like sleeping with a giant hot water bottle!

twobambinos · 22/04/2018 22:07

Bit of a mixed weekend. Had a lot of time in a & E but the main thing is all is fine.

I suffered with spd the last time and was straight to the physio when I got pregnant this time to get exercises to strengthen up. I was told no breaststroke but not a blanket ban on swimming and also that walking backwards in the water can help too.
I do a pregnancy pilates class run by a physio who has herself suffered with pelvic pregnancy issues so I feel in safe hands. I also do an aqua class. Don't push yourself too hard and anything that aggravates it stop. Listen to your body.

I was running pre pregnancy but since the sickness hit I've stopped I had no energy for anything and I mean nothing at all. Its now been 11 weeks since my last run and the sickness has eased alot this week. I might get back to walking this week but I'm going to park the running until after the baby is born.

@rhibee29 still have the fingers crossed for the results.

Goodluck for all the scans this week. I'm counting down the days to the next one. 16 days I believe Grin

ATP1000 · 22/04/2018 22:16

I joined a new gym last week, my old one doesn’t have a pool. I went for a swim/ float on Saturday, it was nice, but felt a bit strange to be stretching after nothing since January! I used to spin and Gym every week.
I found it really funny that I was super bouyant! I was floating around for ages!

Has anyone started with headaches since week 12? I’ve had one a week, each lasting 2-3 days. Am on day 3 today so hoping it’s gone tomorrow. Paracetamol doesn’t cut it, I would normally do a spin session or something like that to release the tension and take codine but am definitely not up to spinning and an only allowed paracetamol which I’m not taking as I know it won’t work.
Any tips for tension headaches greatly appreciated, currently have a hot water bottle on my neck, glad the hot weather has passed!

Morning all, starting to panic for my scan tomorrow! I will be 13 weeks and have been reading about the NT test/scores.
Do you get the results back there and then? I'm panicking about this as I've read that the fluid is generally absorbed by 14 weeks. If I have to wait and I get a high result meaning I need another scan to confirm a real or false positive, this would likely be after the 14 week mark..... trying to not think negatively about it but really getting to me this morning!

RhiBee29 · 23/04/2018 12:54

@unicornchaser I've been having the same thoughts I'll be 13+4 at my scan on Wednesday. I've opted for the blood test too and if I'm high risk I'll go for a Harmony Test privately. I'm sure you'll be fine, I have everything crossed for you x

unicornchaser · 23/04/2018 13:34

I agreed to the blood test and scan too @RhiBee29. I think the likelyhood of anything being wrong is very slim as I am only 29 so not in the age risk category but really, anyone has the risk don't they!
What is the harmony test? I've read a few people have got that done.

I'll keep everything crossed for you on Wednesday, you really do deserve some good news Flowers

EffRam · 23/04/2018 16:14

Hello all! I've been away for a few days, went to Barcelona which was very lovely! Very chilled just lots of exploring and wandering and gelato. I walked 20 miles in two days! Walking has been my main exercise for the last three months. But like everyone above, I'm quite keen to try now to develop a regular routine to keep healthy throughout. I played my last netball game last week which made me sad but the bump is v obvious now and don't think it's fair on opponents apart from the risk of getting bumped!! I have been to one pregnancy yoga class and felt like an intruder as everyone else was over 30 weeks haha! But enjoyed it so going back to that. The same studio also does a sort of circuits class (I think) for preggos so going to try that out next week. I am going to attempt a run time but judging by my breathlessness from walking up stairs I'm not expecting much!

@atp1000 I've had really bad headaches for just couple of weeks. I found the cold patches you can get from boots helped on forehead and back of neck, and also the 4head sick thing you can get. It didn't get rid of it but did relieve enough to get to sleep etc. Luckily seems to be better today...

@unicornchaser I was 13 weeks at my scan. They give you nt result on the day, then took blood so expect the result of combined this week some time. Will have harmony test if risks are high.

Harmony is a blood test from mum which tests the bits of baby's DNA that are floating around so can be sequenced for chromosomal abnormalities (and gender if you desire!) But it's only available privately so you have to pay. It's more accurate than the NHS screen which is just a screen. (The NT and blood test I mean).

Katievb · 23/04/2018 17:00

Just had my 16 week appointment! Got there any she had forgot to book me in and was double booked, mw asked me to wait and was really apologetic! Anyway she let me listen to baby’s heartbeat was so lovely! Xx

unicornchaser · 23/04/2018 17:13

Thanks for explaining Effram, I will wait for the scan results tomorrow and look into the harmony test from there if needed

@ATP100 - Floating sounds amazing! Might have to make the half hour drive to a pool that I can actually access at reasonable times...

@Milknosugar1 Have a great time tonight. Hopefully it gives you some relief.

Has anyone started thinking about nurseries? Was chatting to my boss about it today and she's like 'you need to get your name down on the waiting list'. I wasn't going to start thinking about anything until 20 weeks, but now she's put The Fear into me. I was planning on using the one at my work - I know they're sometimes tight for spaces, but it's 18 months away yet...

twobambinos · 23/04/2018 22:59

Goodluck tomorrow @unicornchaser

@milknosugar1 squats was one of them. Stepping to the side with exercise band around ankles. Lying on side raising leg up and down. Clam. I think they were all working bits of muscle on the outer hips.
No lunges. Nothing that puts the weight fully into one leg at a time.

I booked a physio for tomorrow because I had a horrible hip kind of bum pain earlier but now I think it's gone. Maybe it was from all the hours in hard chairs in a and e over the weekend. I'll still go anyway I'm really dreading getting pelvic problems again.

I think my bump has arrived too. Finally.

@katievb it's a relief isn't it being able to hear the heartbeat.

Good luck today @unicornchaser

EffRam · 24/04/2018 09:29

Good luck with the scans today!

mintich · 24/04/2018 09:30

Hi! Come to join the party.....due Oct 11th

unicornchaser · 24/04/2018 10:48

Thanks ladies, great scan! Baby is all healthy, 2 arms, 2 legs, everything there that should be 🎉

Had the NT check and blood test, I won't hear anything unless it's bad results! Which an take upto 10-12 days! Bit cruel but it changed apparently in December here! I did see on the scan when she was doing it the measurement was 2.1mm, that's ok isn't it? They don't even tell you that in my hospital

Good luck for yours tomorrow @RhiBee29! Hoping for a good scan for you too x

RhiBee29 · 24/04/2018 11:00

Congrats @unicornchaser so glad all was ok 👍🏼

mintich · 24/04/2018 11:05

@unicornchaser don't they send you a report though?
