We didn't find out the sex until birth last time and it was completely underwhelming, I had a big post birth bleed so was too busy being sick and was not really with it to enough to enjoy anything until that had all settled down. I didn't even get the rush of emotions until hours later... so I will be finding out at the 20 week scan so I have the chance to feel excited by it rather than it being something that I'm told amid a lot of confusion.

I know this is not everyone experience of birth and it's likely to be different this time but I just think I want a chance to be excited by finding out if I have a boy or a girl :)

Hi everyone! Been quiet on here lately! I’m 16 weeks today and it’s starting to sink in now! I’ve told family and friends and work also know aswell... I know it sounds silly but it was so nice when just me and DP knowing, I’m already fed up of everyone giving me their horror stories haha!! Joined a pregnancy yoga class, glad I did because the first availability she has is starting 12th May. It’s my first baby but already I feel like I’m getting abit if a bump, ordered some £8 maternity pants from Asda and they are amazing which I’d got them sooner!

Thanks for the wowcher link, think I’m going to get one!
Only 4 weeks till 20 week scan, time feels like it’s going quicker now 😆
Hope everyone is starting to feel better and get over the sickness

unicornchaser · 19/04/2018 08:10

So this morning I took my folic acid and again feel nauseous after.. does anyone else get really nauseous from taking it? Sometimes helps if I eat something before but not always 😏

MermaidTail7 · 19/04/2018 08:54

unicornchaser regarding your nausea after taking the folic acid, I don't get this but I know alot of other ladies on mn do... You could talk to your GP about prescribing a different folic acid supplement that is meant to cause less nausea?

ATP1000 · 19/04/2018 08:55

These elasticated waist trousers from new look are fabulous! I have them on at work, the waist is deep and it doesn’t cut in at all. Good for a hot day! They have a lot of styles like this in at the moment.

@ATP1000 Thanks for the link to the trousers - they look great. I was moaning this morning about not fitting into my jeans! Luckily I work from home so don’t have to worry too much about looking smart, but good to have options!

We still haven’t really told anyone, just one couple that we are close friends with. It’s mainly because various family members have been away, but I’m also kind of putting it off. Think it’s likely to be 15 or 16 weeks before we get to tell the in-laws and I’m pretty sure there’ll be some moaning about not telling everyone sooner.

I’m dreading people annoying me with their comments/opinions, but then as my partner said, I get annoyed by most people anyway so what’s the difference?!

Trill27 · 19/04/2018 09:46

I mean, I'll be 15 or 16 weeks, not that we'll wait another 15 weeks!!

How many weeks are you, @unicornchaser ? The folic acid is only required for 1st trimester so hopefully you won't need to suffer much longer! I take mine with my breakfast and haven't had any issues but it definitely says to take with lots of food and fluids. I just have the folic acid and vit D from boots rather than the pregnacare.

MermaidTail7 · 19/04/2018 11:16

Milknosugar1 I'm only 13 weeks and some days I get the same as you... DP got really exited about me getting a 'proper bump' until I informed him it was probably just cake and gas!!

I have found that the bloating and gas is much better if I avoid certain foods: white sliced/processed bread is a big trigger for me...Have you noticed any foods making you more bloated than others?

I have also just preordered some maternity clothes from the debenhams sale... There are some great bargains there!

Belles86 · 19/04/2018 12:02

@Milknosugar1 hey, quick one re pelvis/hip pain, I'm sat on a fitness/gym ball at work and it's REALLY helping.
Will report back from docs tomo and massage sat to tell if anything else helps..

unicornchaser · 19/04/2018 12:29

@EffRam I am just over 12 weeks. Taking the boots own pregnancy plus with the folic acid, omega 3 and vit D. I was given 4 bottles of folic acid at my booking appointment and told they should be taken the full pregnancy Hmm. Was just wanting to finish the 4 boxes I have at home (good old boots 3 for 2!) before I start the free ones.
Will maybe try the hospitals ones and see if they affect me as much.

Haven't posted in a while - I am having major Round Ligament Pain. Actually doubled over and almost crying in pain last weekend (really hoping that I don't just have a low pain threshold!) Doctor says not to worry so I'm just going to hope that everything is ok and take a paracetamol when it gets bad. I also ordered some preg tops from Asos but not any jeans or trousers because I can never find any that fit - might just have to live in leggings!

Hope everyone is doing well!

HeatherTess · 19/04/2018 18:46

And forgot to say to the ladies with big bloated tummies - mine was awful! My husband actually asked me on a number of occasions if we should ask for another scan to check it's not twins!

It's gone down now though and feel like I'm actually just seeing baby bump rather than bloated cake belly!

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 19/04/2018 19:07

I hear you @HeatherTess. As of today, work trousers no longer fit. Just look fat though! Sigh.

ATP1000 · 19/04/2018 19:41

Hi everyone! I just got my combined scan letter, good results, low risk for all three issues- hooray! Feels more real now! I’m 36, I’ve had one doctor tell me I’m young and several more say I’m old so I was a bit worried.
I’m telling my colleagues tomorrow, the boss already knows but I’ve ordered pink and blue cupcakes for everyone. We have a big cake culture at work so these should go down well! Softens the blow for whoever has to take over my role! (We’re a small company).
I have to take my vitamins with food, even to the point where I have to eat, take the vitamin and then eat some more, otherwise I feel sick.
Last thing, Cloudy Apple juice, fresh lime and lots of ice is delicious!
