Hello everyone! Please can i join??? I'm officially due 28th Sept but i'm pretty sure it'll be early October and this group is more on my time frame! We had a 16 week private scan on Saturday and found out we are having a little baby girl

Doll87 · 18/04/2018 12:20

@caoraich i have just had my letter from the hospital for the whooping cough vaccine, they are doing on the same day as my 20 week scan which isn't for another 3/4 weeks. I had no idea about it until i got the letter and annoyingly i got it just after i had been to my 16wk midwife appt, if i had of gotten it before it would've prompted me to ask more about it (hmm)

RhiBee29 · 18/04/2018 12:24

Hi @Doll87 welcome!

I bf my DS for 12wks, had to stop as DS needed to go on to prescription formula for allergies. Hoping to give it another shot this time. I didn't get on with electric pumps and found a manual one worked better for me. I introduced a bottle pretty early as I wanted DH to join in some feeds so I could have a break. If you intend to express you'll need to get all the bottle bits too. I'd stock up on lanolin cream and breast pads and good nursing bras. Congratulations on your little girl Thanks I'm impatiently waiting on my dating scan a week today...due 28th October so I could be November although DS was 3 days early.

twobambinos · 18/04/2018 12:33

Welcome @Doll87 you are just one day after me. I was over with my last two so I jumped in here.

The countdown is on @rhibee29 hope this week flys

@atp1000 was your lasagne delicious

Doll87 · 18/04/2018 13:17

@RhiBee29 Thats useful to know, my hubby wants to help with feeding (FOMO issues - fear of missing out) and so i've seen a good Tommee Tippee kit with pump, bottles and warmers etc that i've been thinking of getting but it really is hard to know what is best to get! My friends have bottle fed so not really any good asking them. This is our first baby! so everything is a new experience. I was shocked yesterday, i took off my boulder holder (bra) for the shower and honestly, my boobs smelt of milk! Is that normal at 16 weeks lol?!

@twobambinos Ah thats cool, we are very close together in due dates then! Have you began booking antenatal classes yet? The midwife told me yesterday to get booked in now as all spaces are filling up....i have no idea what classes i'm sposed to be booking lol! Googel has been my best (and worst) friend since getting pregnant :)

ATP1000 · 18/04/2018 13:19

Hi @twobambinos it was delicious! Sorted me out for a few hours! Now in search of more food! 😋

Is anyone not having a gender scan? I really want one, my husband is less keen but has said I get the final say!

OP posts:
RhiBee29 · 18/04/2018 13:45

@Doll87 it's a mine field! I bought the tommee tippee kit but DS refused the teet and had colic so I tried so many other bottle brands until he finally settled on MAM. I've head minbie are good for bf babies.

@ATP1000 I'm not, had a surprise with DS and will again this time, DH loved announcing "its a boy" in the delivery room. All our newborn bits are neutral so I won't have to buy much.

twobambinos · 18/04/2018 14:25

@Doll87 I'm not bothering with classes. It's my 3rd ill take my chance.

@atp1000 we are def finding out thank god he is on the same page as me because I don't know how I would manage the suspense.

Hotchocolate86 · 18/04/2018 14:42

We are not having a gender scan. I am happy to wait and find out at the birth.

Doll87 · 18/04/2018 15:01

@ATP1000 we had a gender scan on Saturday, found out we are having a little girl. Its our first and DH really wanted to find out which i was cool with as i'm super impatient and it was driving me mad not knowing. i think its totally personal preference though, part of me loves the idea of waiting until you have the baby to find out as it must be such an amazing surprise, but then i love knowing that i'm carrying a little girl. its helping me to bond with my bump as i can start talking to her. Plus i can go buy some gorgeous little bits for her, and it helps with that inevitable "name conversation" lol! What are you swaying more towards, finding out or keeping it a surprise?

unicornchaser · 18/04/2018 15:48

I'm in the finding out gender camp too! I actually think I'll get a private scan at 17 weeks to find out sooner! I think I just wouldn't feel fully prepared not knowing but wish I did have the patience to not find out!

6 days and counting to my first proper scan at 13 weeks! Feel so far behind everyone else here, hope I don't get pushed back later and end up with a November edd!

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 18/04/2018 16:36

We will find out the sex at 20 weeks. Desperately saving every penny so will just have to patient a bit longer than 16 weeks. Couldn't wait 9 months!

twobambinos · 18/04/2018 16:41

@unicorn chaser you could well end up with a nov due date but I'm sure many others on the thread will end up with November babies too. Similarly some people will end up with Sept babies hopefully not any earlier. There's just no way of knowing how it will go in the last few weeks. Don't be worrying about being behind everyone else. Think of all the perils of wisdom we will have for you. Grin
3 weeks tomorrow until we hopefully find out and I do feel it was a long wait from 14 to 20 weeks but I don't think hubby would fork out for another scan. We already paid for an early private one and are paying for private care this time too so I think that may be the budget maxed out. Grin

On the plus side. I added something to my basket on mothercare a few days ago and Decided not to buy and they have just sent me a 5% discount to hurry my purchase along Grin

unicornchaser · 18/04/2018 16:56

That's true @twobambinos, I am equally hoping to not go too far early either as it's DSS birthday on 20th Oct so will need to keep my legs squeezed shut until at least 21st! I do like that I've a Halloween pumpkin growing so coming on my due date or the day after would work very nicely thank you baby Grin

What a nice wee surprise though from mothercare! Wonder if that happens for any others who may give it a try now (I know I would if I was buying just now!) Wink

twobambinos · 18/04/2018 17:00

I hope my baby arrives within a couple of days of due date im sick of overdue comments. I told everyone 1st of October just to buy myself some time this time.
Awe ya it would be nice if they had their own birthdays alright.

No harm trying it out. Add some stuff to basket and wait a few days although I don't find them the cheapest but it's the only place I could find the car seat I wanted in stock but i don't know colour yet until the scan which is why i didn't finalise the purchase

EffRam · 18/04/2018 17:18

We're not going to find out - my husband would prefer to but doesn't feel that strongly and I just want the surprise so he was happy to go with me. Plus I am not a fan of all pink/all blue things and if the family don't know they will have to go neutral! (I am rubbish at keeping secrets so if we found out would end up telling them!)

I'm due 22nd Oct but have told anyone beyond immediate family am due beginning of November in an attempt to avoid any of those inevitable questions (and me accidentally punching someone in the face when they're winding me up as I'm sure I'll go overdue!)

Watching top tips for breast feeding equipment carefully - and if this mother care trick works!!

I ordered a baby box after our scan on monday - it's free if you collect or just pay postage if you want it delivered: www.babyboxco.com

And visited a friend today who gave me a bag of maternity clothes so it's all feeling quite real now!!

lovesrunning · 18/04/2018 17:29

Hi ladies, hope everyone’s doing ok. Sorry to hear some people still feeling and being sick :( that’s rough.

Have people had good reactions telling people? And has anyone else had someone reveal that they’re also pregnant? This has happened to me three times! One of my good friends in work is due 2 days after me. So lovely to go through it together. Much like having you here - I’ve enjoyed catching up on the posts. We are definitely going to find out if it’s a boy or a girl - can’t wait!

RhiBee29 · 18/04/2018 17:58

@unicornchaser I'm due 28th October and DS Birthday is 1st November, I'll be shovelling vindaloo down my neck to get baby out on time so I make sure they don't share a Birthday as he'd never forgive me Grin

I've started telling people this week, and am already sick of the question 'do you know whether it's a boy or a girl?' We're going to ask, but I'm quite keen not to tell people because, like EffRam, I'm not a fan of all the blue/pink! Hubby isn't quite on board with this plan.

I've also been telling people that my due date is later than I currently think it is (we didn't manage to get a date at the scan because baby was doing a handstand). I've got a three day window in which I was fairly sure I ovulated. As a few other people have said, how can the scan be more accurate than that? There are people who have had IVF and are absolutely certain of the dates that get different ones through the dating scan? I've got another scan at 15+4, I thought that dating scans weren't as reliable after 13 weeks?

@Milknosugar1 and @Belles - I've been having hip pain since about 7 weeks. At 12 weeks, I went to my physio. She gave me some exercises to do which have significantly reduced it, but I'm currently £105 out of pocket. There are no ante-natal yoga/pilates classes not during working hours near me, so I might get a DVD soon...

Out of the loop for ages but just had my booking appt and dating scan. Due 22nd Oct.

And now it feels real!

We will be finding out the sex. It didn't make it any less special last time.

MermaidTail7 · 18/04/2018 21:58

Hi Ladies.. Had my scan today, and my due date has moved so now we are due on the 24th..because this is a clomid baby and we had follicle tracking scans too, I'm pretty sure of the date I ovulated, so I still think I'm due later in October... Also, DP is very tall, so if that has carried over to the bump then that could be impacting thier measurements too.

We still haven't decided if we are going to find out of it is a boy or a girl at the 20 week scan.. I'm hoping we will have enough time between now and then to decide... Part of me would quite like a surprise in the delivery room, but as my mother said tonight when we told them the news 'you might find Labour enough of a surprise on its own dear' Grin

Clarashan · 19/04/2018 01:31

Hi all, new to the group. My due date is the 16th Oct. I was 100% going to find out if we're having a boy or girl at the 20 week scan but now I'm starting to have second thoughts. Anyone else done the same and regretted it either way?
