Great to hear the scans went well.

@latenightreader sorry I don't know anything about ivf dating. If it's only one day it may not make much difference.

@effram nice suprise to get to be a week further ahead than expected.

@atp1000 I'm the same If I over do it on one day I pay for it the next. Saturday was an awful day for me got out of bed for about 20 mins in total. But I do feel it is getting a little better.

Have a gp appointment this week so looking forward to hearing the heartbeat I'm in Ireland so a bit different.

unicornchaser · 16/04/2018 17:13

Sorry @Latenightreader I can't help with ivf dating either but I do have a question for everyone else re dating and it moving.

I know the exact date I conceived (well, one of 2 days which are 2 days apart) but my pregnancy dating has gone by my last period which is already making it 10 days before the dates I'd expect. I had a private scan at 8 weeks and they pushed it forward a further 3 days. What do these dates go by? Is it baby measurements? I'm just a bit baffled how I can be 2 weeks more pregnant than when I actually conceived

Congrats on the good scans today @ATP1000 and @EffRam!

twobambinos · 16/04/2018 18:52

@unicornchaser I think the dates are from measurements in the early weeks because I think all babies grow at the same rate until about 12 weeks.

I think sperm can last 5days so maybe you ovulated a little earlier than you think and it was from another session that you conceived? maybe you had a shorter cycle than you usually have and ovulated earlier? Beyond that I have no clue.

I think they just use lmp until you have had the dating scan. So if you had long cycles then the lmp date would put you fr
Urther ahead than a dating scan because the lmp assumes a 28 day cycle.

Hollymchollyface · 16/04/2018 19:04

Hi everyone, hope it is ok if I join ! I'm around 16 weeks with dc2. Ds1 is 18mths and found out that #2 is also a boy! Really excited, due at the start of October. The 5th is my official dd I think.
Hope everyone is doing well and sickness is starting to ease up now. Mine has luckily as it was horrendous this time around.

FrauNeuer · 17/04/2018 02:08

@latenightreader my pregnancy is through ivf and I’ve been told that the most accurate date is the one I was given at the clinic (so from egg transfer, I think). I was disappointed because I was nearly a week ahead at my dating scan, but apparently it will even itself out. Hope that helps!

Great to hear positive scan news. Had 16w midwife appointment today and still can’t believe I’ve got this far. I’m sure this will all start to feel real at some point!

Anyone felt movement yet?

justtowarm · 17/04/2018 06:30

Yay congratulations on the positive scans!!!

I have also had loads of stretching/sharpish pains around my pelvis area, it's bloody uncomfortable!

@FrauNeuer I have felt some occasional very light flutters, I'm only 14 weeks but It's just like the flutters I had with my son last time. I felt him at around 17 weeks which is early for your first so I'm hoping I'm not imagining it :)

twobambinos · 17/04/2018 08:39

Welcome @hollymchollyface and congrats on your boy. I think you are the first to find out/say it out loud. I can't wait to find out I'm counting down.

@justtowarm when I sneeze it's very sore can feel it all across the bottom of my belly. It's like a pulled muscle but goes after about a minute. Have felt a few nudges too but they have disappeared as quickly as they've come. It was late on my last two well into the 20 plus weeks so I'm surprised this time but nicely surprised.

@frauneuer I think when the proper bump arrives it feels more real maybe. I told a few people in my exercise class that I was expecting I nearly felt like a fraud saying it they might believe it when the bump pops out.

Belles86 · 17/04/2018 10:05

No movement yet but willing it with my mind!

Has anyone had any sciatic issues/success in treating it? I've had sharp pain left side since 12 weeks (now nearly 16) and it's getting worse. Tried prego pilates last night and this morning struggled to get out of bed.

MamaL86 · 17/04/2018 10:17

@Belles86 thankfully not yet in this pregnancy but I did later on last time. I was referred to a physio on the NHS, so if it persists it could be worth making an appointment with your GP?

Belles86 · 17/04/2018 10:39

@MamaL86 ah fab ok thank you. Did you make the appt via your midwife or just your general doc? I've read good things about acupuncture too..
Thanks :)

MamaL86 · 17/04/2018 12:23

@Belles86 My DS is 9 so my memory may be a bit hazy, but pretty sure I just went to the GP. It was a little later in the pregnancy though - I think definitely after 20 weeks. Not sure if that makes any difference? You might be fine going through the midwife though. Have you got an appointment coming up soon?

Belles86 · 17/04/2018 14:22

@MamaL86 I've called the gp now and am waiting for a call back so fingers crossed, thanks v much! :)

trudie91 · 17/04/2018 16:12

Hi everyone,
Bit late to the party, but hoping it's ok to join. I'm 16 weeks on Thursday with number 2. Due on 4th October. My eldest is 8! totally nervous about having such a big gap!

ATP1000 · 17/04/2018 16:36

I’m waiting the 5 days for the NHS to call with results of the combined test. It’s a no news is good news situation so I keep checking my phone every 5 minutes! Also got an nhs letter yesterday, thought that was it but it was ante natal classes for when I’m 7 months 🤦‍♀️ They have until Thursday to send negative news...

Belles86 · 17/04/2018 17:07

@trudie91 ah, we have the same due date. I'm sure your eldest will love having a little sibling, my older brothers are 7 and 9 years older than me and we're all good. :)

Alyosha · 17/04/2018 17:25

I got my results in three days - and they were low risk! So early news isn't neccessarily bad news.

trudie91 · 17/04/2018 17:32

@Belles86 - how exciting! Congratulations!

Have you had your 16 week appointment yet? Mine is on Thursday. He's excited now which is lovely! I'm a bit nervous about doing it all again, but I'm sure I will get the hang of it quick enough... Is this your first? xx

@trudie91 it’s nezt weds actually when I’ll be a day off 17 weeks, it’s my first so I don’t really know what to expect at the appt! But nice to feel like it’s another sort of mini milestone. Hope yours goes well on Thurs 👍

@Milknosugar1 that’s crap that you’re in pain too. Is yours legs and one sided? What did your midwife say? I’m actually trying to arrange a physio-Pilates 1-1 and if I get any tips etc I’ll report back 😊

caoraich · 17/04/2018 18:43

Hello to the newbies!

Has anyone had any info about the whooping cough vaccine? I know it's meant to be given asap after 16 weeks but I'm only going to be seeing the obstetrician at that point and not sure whether to just ring my GP and make an appt there. Community midwives just referred me to obstetrics after my booking appt and all I've had since then is consultant appts and the 12 week scan so haven't actually seen/heard from a midwife to ask them!

Suddenly feeling a bit confused and anxious again - is anyone else? Initial excitement of getting to tell everyone seems to have worn off and it doesn't help that I'm still being sick and people keep saying "but you're past 12 weeks that shouldn't be happening now!" Gah. Confused

MermaidTail7 · 18/04/2018 04:52

Hi all, can I jump on board too please? DP and I are due our first on 27th October... Currently 12+4 and have our 12 week scan later today, although it's a clomid baby so we did have an early scan at 7+3 too.

twobambinos · 18/04/2018 09:04

@mermaidtail7 welcome and goodluck with your scan today.

@caoraich I thought the vaccine was much later on? But I'm not sure either. I better find out I'm gone 16 weeks.

@milknosugar1 definitely get the pain looked at hopefully they can ease it up a bit.

Belles86 · 18/04/2018 10:02

@Milknosugar1 aw bummer (literally) I have left butt cheek pain that goes down a few inches, mine also started around 11-12 weeks.

I rang docs yesterday and she said that it can also go on it's own. My SIL however said 'get to a chiro' and that fixed her SPD pretty much instantly.

I keep wanting to move through it but that seems to make it worse. I'm sort of curious as to what swimming would do..Have you tried it?

ATP1000 · 18/04/2018 10:32

Thanks @Alyosha that’s good to know. No news yet so that’s fine with me :)
Am in carluccios getting lasagne at 10.30am, I feel the need for pasta! Pretty nauseous today and stodgy food helps!
