15 weeks today and craving all the juice in the world!! Hope everyone is doing well and I guess some of us will be have 16 week appt soon. Excited for 20 week scan too, though that's a little way off yet :)

Hotchocolate86 · 12/04/2018 10:38

@Milknosugar1 Thanks for your reply. I have a lot of generalised anxiety but also my little boy has been having a fair few nosebleeds. The doctor isn’t concerned but he has a blood test in a couple of weeks and I’ve managed to convince myself it must be something really bad. I am also finding myself really anxious about giving birth and even scaring myself that I will die during labour. I know it’s irrational but can’t seem to shake it off. I presume it’s down to hormones.

@Alyosha Thank you for your reply. My anxiety is slightly better this morning but definitely still there. I’m hoping it will ease off over the next couple of days.

Hotchocolate86 · 12/04/2018 17:20

I hope I haven’t killed the thread being miserable.

Penny31 · 12/04/2018 18:29

Slight anxiety/excitement for my scan tomorrow! It’s in the afternoon so it’s going to be a looong day. Fingers crossed for a good scan.

Anyone else got a scan tomorrow?

Good luck with the scan penny.

I do hope the gp is being very overly cautious about my son. She certainly didn’t seem too concerned which is reassuring. I just realised the steroids I’m on for sickness can cause anxiety which gives me some hope that it may ease off once I come off the steroids. That’s another 2-3 weeks though I imagine.

I hope your work clothes fit milknosugar. I don’t think mine will so I’ve had to order some maternity trousers for when I go back.

elizastarbeth · 12/04/2018 20:55

@Milknosugar1 I'm sure I'll have a colour coded spreadsheet in no time at all! Like you say, I think I'll start thinking about these things more now that I've had my scan. It hasn't really felt that real - I'm lucky in that I've not been sick, just felt awful all the time, so it was lovely to see baby waving at us today. It was stubbornly head down, so I have to go back for another scan in 2 weeks time so they can take measurements. That'll be another chance to see them, but it means I have the midwife in the morning and then the scan in the afternoon on that day! Hopefully the midwife will be happy to let them take bloods at the hospital so I don't have them taken twice on one day.

I've had hip pain since 8 weeks, the midwife didn't care so I went to the physio - they were great. It's almost gone now. Hopefully yours is more help!

@Alyosha I'm not sure that we'll ever stop worrying! Hope that your scan gives you some peace of mind.

ATP1000 · 12/04/2018 21:37

Hi everyone, my scan went well, low risk for NT and waiting 5 days for the blood test results, I wish i already knew the results but I’ll have to wait! I got marked up to 12+6, gaining 5 days so 13 weeks tomorrow! Second trimester now!

Good luck for everyone else’s scans tomorrow and I hope today’s ones went well.
I’m in bed, shattered and still feeling sick, can’t wait for the “honeymoon period” to start!

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 12/04/2018 22:05

Yay @ATP1000! I got my bloods back today and low risk for all chromosomal abnormalities. Phew. Starting to feel real now!

Hotchocolate86 · 12/04/2018 22:23

Great news ATP1000 and biscay. I am still feeling sick at nearly 15 weeks. Hoping it stops soon.

Alyosha · 12/04/2018 22:59

Congrats biscay! And great news ATP.

Feels very real, we're almost done with the 12 week scans - next stop, 20 weeks!

The worry will always be there I think - booked in for NIPT this Saturday...

@Milknosugar1 excellent news!

ladydolly · 13/04/2018 11:00

@hotchocolate86 I've had anxiety this pregnancy, not just about the pregnancy but just in general. It was causing terrible insomnia. It seems to be easing off now, I hope yours does too. My nephew used to have lots of nosebleeds, my sister was worried but we realised it was happening when his emotions were hightened - didn't matter what the emotions were though, so once I was taking him to the cinema and he was so excited he bleed everywhere - much to the horror of the people around us! Apparently it's quite common especially with boys. Terrifying though. Sure it's all fine.

I had my first public pregnancy spot yesterday. I went to a restaurant with some colleagues and the waitress made a little joke about getting non alcoholic drinks for me. I'm 15 weeks, that's so early to be spotted!! But pleased I'm moving to bump rather than fatty. Although maybe she just saw me stroking my belly...

justtowarm · 13/04/2018 12:11

@Milknosugar1 yay great news :)

Hotchocolate86 · 13/04/2018 12:14

That’s great news milknosugar1.

Thanks ladydolly I’m really hoping the nosebleeds are nothing. I have noticed they often start when he cries or rubs his nose and he now hasn’t had one since we saw the doctor 2 days ago. I just can’t help being terrified and I’m sure my anxiety isn’t helping that.

Penny31 · 13/04/2018 13:52

Can I ask what NT is please?

ATP1000 · 13/04/2018 14:12

Hi @Penny31 NT is short for neural translucency, during your 12 week scan they will look at the thickness of fluid on the back of the baby’s neck. From this there is an indication of if the baby has Down’s syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities.
It’s only an indication rather than yes or no and you can opt in for the combined test on the nhs which is the scan plus a blood test which tracks hormone levels and also gives and indication and probability measure of any issues but again it’s not a yes or no result. If the indication was high risk then you would be offered further tests and support.

This website explains it better than me

Thanks for the nt explanation!

I had my scan and all looks well. I’m so relieved!

justtowarm · 13/04/2018 19:12

Yay congrats @Penny31

I just can't stop eating full stop! Sweet and savoury @Milknosugar1

Today my two year old was deliberately running into the things and then shouting "oh bollocks" in response! I'm not sure I should be allowed another 🙈

ATP1000 · 13/04/2018 22:32

I’ve had all day nausea nearly the whole first trimester but no sickness, the only thing that has helped with the nausea is to eat, mainly salt and vinegar crisps, so I have put on about 5kg already. I asked the doctor and he said it’s ok. I haven’t been able to exercise at all during this time but am now allowed to swim 30 mins a few days a week. He said doing that will help to pace the next load of weight gain. I don’t want to lose weight but I want to try to control the gain a bit! I started off at 74kg and I’m 5ft 7 so not huge but definitely not lean!

The nausea hasn’t finished yet so I’m continuing with what works and doing my first gentle swim tomorrow!

I bought the M&S Greek style frozen yogurt today, it’s really good, quite sweet, it’s a raspberry ripple,it’s not bad for you and must have a good dose of calcium! That might help a sweet tooth. Also got some strawberries and cream, they’re quite sweet at the moment too and full of folic acid :)

@justtowarm and @milknosugar your stories made me laugh today! I’m glad you got a good result @milk and @penny31.

OP posts:
Penguina · 13/04/2018 22:55

@milknosugar yup. I can’t get enough sugar. I’m desperately trying to stop it but there’s a little voice in my head that just tells me to scoff it! I said after my scan I’d stop being so bad but if anything I’ve done the opposite!

RhiBee29 · 14/04/2018 07:54

I guzzled DS last Easter egg last night, the whole thing 🙈 He saw the evidence this morning so mummy is in the doghouse now. I just can't stop eating chocolate and salt & vinegar crisps although I have swapped to snack a jacks to try and cut some calories.
