Good luck with the scan @Milknosugar1 my scan is on Wednesday I’ll be 13 weeks.

I just want to be out of the bloated stage no normal clothes don’t fit I’m usually a petite size 8 maternity clothes swamp me and normal clothes make me look like I’ve had one too many pork pies! I’m 30 and find maternity clothes really frumpy aswell even my mum said she wouldnt wear half the stuff and she’s 60. Surely clothes shops must realise majority of mums to be are 20-35!

ATP1000 · 08/04/2018 12:19

@peanut9 how are you getting on post op? I hope you’re recovering well.

I’m a bit nervous for my scan, I’m lucky to have had a few already but they’ve focussed on me rather than the baby, this week is 12 weeks and I’m nervous about all the checks, I’m 36.

@maddie I would definitely go to the doctors, they offered me a hydration drip with sickness medicine mixed in. I didn’t need it in the end but they said I would be hooked up for a few hours and as it’s intravenous I would feel better more quickly.

I’m not on FB yet, I like our page, also don’t know my FB password!

@Hayleyxmx have you tried ASOS maternity yet? It has a bit more variety of styles

@ATP1000 yeah asos has about the best range just my size always seems to be sold out if only everything in the shops wasn’t cropped I could just size up 🙂

Hi everyone,

@frommaddietomummy I hope you feel better soon - that sounds horrendous you poor thing. Maybe for putting up with it you’ll have one of those sneeze and it’s out type labours as a reward?

First day back at work today for me after two weeks off and none of my trousers do up any more. Thankfully a friend gave me some maternity clothes - most are too big though so will be stuck in the same stuff for a couple of weeks. Does anyone else feel like certain people have guessed and are staring at your tummy? Or am I being paranoid?
@milk I hope you get some decent rest soon and maybe even manage to brave the shops!

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 08/04/2018 13:30

Hi all

Been a bit quiet recently but have been reading. All was going well - no real cause for worry.

Then the other day I had a tiny bit of brown cm after a bowel movement. Sorry TMI. Rang mw in a panic who assured me it's old blood and I probably just have a delicate cervix atm which was disturbed when I was straining😂

However it's still worried me and now I'm feeling more anxious about my scan which is tomorrow! I had a scan at 7-8 weeks which was fine but now feel really nervous about the 12 week...

Good luck to everyone else with their scans this week.

ATP1000 · 08/04/2018 13:33

Hi @milk, my scan is on Thursday, I’ll be 12+1 although am measuring a few days ahead of that.

One of my colleagues guessed on Friday because I asked about the ingredients of a sauce when we were out for lunch and we were out a few weeks ago and I was not drinking wine! I didn’t confirm it but didn’t deny either! I plan to tell everyone on Friday. My boss knew around week 5 as I had to tell him for travel reasons (Zika).

Goodluck to every one having a scan this week. So exciting to see your little baby. Its amazing how much they have grown from the 8 week scans for those that had them.

Lovesrunning I think it's just paranoia. I go to some exercise classes and I've told the instructors and they drop subtle hints about what not to do etc but I think sometimes it's not subtle but it's only because I'm totally aware. Have told most people now anyway at 15 weeks.

Hayley I agree majority of the clothes are totally frumpy. Some of it is OK ish but really only when its a proper obvious bump so it's just the inbetween stage that's annoying but there will be another inbetween phase after too so it's nice to get a few little bits that make you feel somewhat normal it's my way of justifying spending to myself.

Have a family event in a few weeks and I have nothing to wear yet I bought a shift dress in next size up but it was so shapeless. So back to square one. Grin

Hope the nausea and vomiting goes soon. I'm feeling much better this week. But as I know first hand in some pregnancies it never goes. It's a bit depressing so be kind to yourself when u can.

I think I will book a maternity massage for a few weeks time and a facial my skin is gone so dry and flaky.

Milknosugar love your last line. Have had two scans and both confirmed only one baby in there but I feel like I'm getting movements in a lot of places and one tiny baby doesn't move that fast at this stage. Hopefully I don't get a suprise ar 9 months.

The vomiting is back this afternoon and the depression is creeping in. Haven't been outside since Wednesday.

pumpkinpieinmyeye · 08/04/2018 15:54

Hi everyone, sorry I have been quiet on here - definitely got scan nerves! Mines tomorrow at 13 weeks but expecting to be put back a few days. What will be will be, I guess. I have never been the most positive person!
So pleased for those who have had healthy scans and so sorry to those who haven't had good news, my thoughts are with you.

How long does the 12 week scan take?

Penny31 · 08/04/2018 16:08

Omg I think I’ve turned a corner. I don’t think I feel sick anymore! I’m a bit tired still, but that could be my dreadful cold.

I have a definite bump today that is quite difficult to hide. My scan is on Friday at 13+1 weeks.

I’ve been off work for 2 weeks and go back mid week. I didn’t want to tell anyone until at work until after the scan, but the bump is quite obvious so I don’t know what I’m going to do!

This is my second pregnancy, please tell me at almost 13 weeks some of you have a bump!!!?? I’m a bit alarmed 😱

RhiBee29 · 08/04/2018 17:41

@Milknosugar1 DS is absolutely fine now. I've had a bit of a cold and hoping that's all it is& not Parvovirus. Still have sore boobs and nausea so clinging on to these as positive signs all is ok. My scan is not until 25th, 13+4, it's soooo far away . Good luck for your scan x

@ATP1000 I can't remember my fb password either which is partly why I haven't joined the group there.

Clothes are getting uncomfortable but I think it's just from the constant eating. Although I can't suck my tummy in anymore. I'm working in a different office due to the Parvovirus so I'm sure when I go back to my usual workplace all my colleagues will notice but I'll have had my scan by then and will be sharing the news.

FromMaddieToMummy · 08/04/2018 18:37

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. And I would most certainly be very thankful for a "sneeze and pop" labour. My mum has some interesting stories from back when she gave birth to me and my brother so I pray I'm nothing like her when it comes to giving birth Confused

@Milknosugar1 Ice cubes are a good shout. I have been having them and they do work a little at home but I can't have them when out and about.
I know what you mean about people suggesting ginger. I've heard it so many times and I've had so many to start off with, that only the thought makes me gag.

ladydolly · 08/04/2018 19:56

@penny31 Me! It's my second as well and it was so hard to hide at work. I went public at 13 weeks and the day after, stopped wearing big scarves and everyone said 'wow! where did that come from?!' about my bump.

Good luck to those with scans this week!

Penny31 · 08/04/2018 20:06

@ladydolly that’s reassuring! I can’t go public until after my scan on Friday but I think it’s really obvious 🤦‍♂️

Unicornchaser · 09/04/2018 07:22

Morning ladies, did any of you who are a few weeks ahead of me get period cramps at about 10/11 weeks? I've been getting feelings like my period is about to start for a few days now......

Also, had to put the bigger size clothes on this morning for work and feel like I'm wearing a tent! But better than looking like a stuffed sausage in my normal size 🙈 x

FromMaddieToMummy · 09/04/2018 08:06

@Unicornchaser I did. The midwife did warn me that I will. According to her it's just the uterus moving up to give baby more space Smile I would contact the midwife just to get an expert opinion if you're worried. They are very good at giving you peace of mind Smile

EyeBaggage · 09/04/2018 08:25

Hi all - has anyone on here not had a private early scan? I've got my 12 week one on Wednesday and am terrified!

Unicornchaser · 09/04/2018 08:31

Thanks @maddie, not met my midwife yet so not sure about phoning them yet. Got my scan in 2 weeks so will try and keep calm until then!x

Penguina · 09/04/2018 08:56

@EyeBaggage I haven’t. They are £90 here! We discussed it but figured It was pointless as whatever happens happens. My scan is on Wednesday . I’m a little anxious but what will be will be. I had about 12 scans with Ds starting around 8 weeks so I feel a little strange!

EyeBaggage · 09/04/2018 09:13

Penguina we're in the same boat then! I just want it over with now - I was so blasé with DS that we were really excited and not at all nervous for the first scan... this time feels so different!
