Thanks Daisybump, that's extremely helpful! Golly there are hundreds of us. Brilliant. Does anyone know if this is a productive month, as I keep getting told by friends that they know about 5 people due in June? Have to have a look and compare with the May lot.
Isn't it lovely about Preggerspoppet?
Anyone else planning an HB?

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 19:21

Thanks Derlor! Glad to hear that, god I have to get quicker at typing, I'm always cross posting.
Yup DS seems to be getting more grown up and helpful by the day - except the little regressive thing of wetting pants, all of a sudden...

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 19:23

Derlor what's DS having done, is it something scary or not too bad? Fingers crossed your new pup waits till after that

Daisybump · 07/05/2007 19:23

I bloody well might as well be....DH works away and is only home weekends. (Daisy scold herself for sounding bitter and twisted....sorry). No I'm not flightattendant, but I was when I had my DS so although I cam empathise, I only had the one to deal with....we'll try to help keep you sane! Have you got a birthing partner?

My Ds's brithday is the day after your DC's as well as me being due the day after you...but he's gonna be five, not four.

derlor · 07/05/2007 19:24

yeah there are a few HB's planned with this lot. i know for definate Foxy and Holly but after that i'm a bit forgetful - Holly just bought a birthing pool for the occasion!
i'm planning a pool birth too but at the hospital - same as last time for me (hopefully) it was FAB.

Daisybump · 07/05/2007 19:26

Flightattendant, my DS has been doing the same thing. I think its just the realisation that the baby is coming soon and I was told by my HV it was totally natural and not to make a big thing about it. We were doing the "you're going to be the big boy not the baby" thing, which apparently might have been making it worse. So, just ignoring it now and things seem to have improved slightly.

Daisybump · 07/05/2007 19:28

Oh, and a big No for the HB for me...long nasty labour last time ended in emergency C-section and my MW wouldn't even consider it. I think if I'd pushed for it I may have gotten somewhere, but I think I'd rather have the re-assurance of full back up if the same thing happens again.

derlor · 07/05/2007 19:29

yup lots of Xposting goes on here - it's quiet tonight actually - sometimes i go to type then come back to about 10 messages - you gotta type fast girl!!!
DS has an outward drifting squint that only comes when he is tired/concentrating but needs fixed with surgery unfortunately - no other cure so just have to go with that - yucky as it's his eyes but he being very brave - he is 7 now and looking forward to time off school!!!!!!

justbeme · 07/05/2007 19:32

Evening all - just popping in b4 Corrie -
Went to Brent Cross today - God it was manic - and much smaller than I remember - Shant be going there again 4 a while.

Can I ask a silly question?
Why are you all buying Pj's for the hospital post birth?
Last time I had button down nighties and I wouldve thought they were easier to deal with - changing knickers/pads etc - or have I missed something?

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 19:34

Oh cool! I don't know anyone else having a HB IRL, all my friends say 'you're so brave' but I think it's fear more than being brave!! Hospitals are horrible judging only on experience with DS1...
Anyway gosh, really Daisybump? Funny about their birthdays! I'm glad you said about the 'big boy' thing as we've been trying to instill a new grown-up concept /role for him, but maybe that's doing more harm than good. Lots of 'Ah my baby!' stuff then...I like making a fuss of him anyway so that's Ok.
I've got a prospective trainee doula supposed to ring me this week...free doula, hooray! while Mum has DS1. She's up the road and a brilliant help. Also have a friend who has offered to be around, her ds's permitting! So that's all good.
I thought I'd got a nice DP to be around this time, but wasn't to be so here we go again! Glad you've got one now, gives me hope...
Derlor, pool sounds good, my friends' offered me one of those 'in a box' ones but I don't fancy having to inflate the darn thing while in the throes of labour... so politely declined. I'll be interested to know how it was for you!

derlor · 07/05/2007 19:35

Justbeme - i've got pj's cause personally i don't like nighties but thats my only reason. not sure about anyone else, the pj's i've got have a button top anyway

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 19:36

Daiy - didn't see that till posted - sorry you had a bad experience last time. Understand completely wanting to be in safe hands. Part of me feels the same...

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 19:36

DAISY!

annobal · 07/05/2007 19:37

I'm not sure I can go the whole hog at home but would like to stay here for as long as poss - I have an independent mw who is fab and it means I can be pretty flexible. I'm keeping all my options open.

Derlor - Hope everything goes okay with your DS (sure it will) I'm sure you'll have at least 2.5 weeks - will keep legs crossed for you as well.

Has there been any talk of a new thread title?

derlor · 07/05/2007 19:38

oh FA i loved my pool birth and would TOTALLY recommend it to anyone and everyone - had a dryland birth 1st time and compared to the pool it was crap - needed more pain control etc water just realxed and eased me and DD was delivered with gas and air and 3 pushes. nice to be able to float about too.

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 19:39

Oh Derlor, poor DS, glad there's a bonus in the time off school though! Sounds like a brave lad.
Gotta say night night for now girls as DS is going nuts and wants to see rude Rainbow clips again (he doesn't get the rude bits!) will post link if anyone knows how, I think it's in the parenting section under title 'HILARIOUS' or something...
Night then!

flightattendant · 07/05/2007 19:40

Derlor - might just snap up that pool of my friend's after reading that!!

Daisybump · 07/05/2007 19:48

Annobal.......How about just "Due in June.....?". I'm too bloody scared to think up anything else after last weeks furore.

Derlor...hope your DSs op goes well and that you can hold out till after then.

DH putting DS to bed, then it'll be "seconds away round three"......ho bloody hum...

riabutterflew · 07/05/2007 19:48

hi flightattendant. I would recommend water too (the baby is clean by the time it gets to you!)

DS2 nicely asleep. Even though he tried to convince me it wasn't bedtime cos it wasn't dark.

Hope the eye op goes ok. My sister used to work in eye surgery. I find it all a bit scary. Am worried DS2 might have squint as his eye gets very "wandery" when he's tired. Not serious though I don't think.

Need chocolate...

I have bought a nightie for hospital. No reason, just liked it, though my Mum is not a fan of PJs when there is to be mess... I am wondering though (following my sisters comment that they will be trying to eject me from hospital before I've finished pushing) if I will be there long enough to wear it.

justbeme · 07/05/2007 19:50

Due in June ... Hormones Raging - God its so soon!
Any good?

(Advert break!)

annobal · 07/05/2007 19:53

Deep breath Daisy...

Daisybump · 07/05/2007 19:54

I did buy a couple of nighties in Next...but they're horrible and uncomfortable and end up round my waist and I wake up in the morning with boobs hanging out everywhere...pjs much comfier for lounging in as well. I'll need to strip to the waist to feed anyway, so it doesn't really matter about easy access.....and these ones are black so leaks wont be obvious.

Daisybump · 07/05/2007 19:57

I'm breathing deeply....his opening gambit was to go to the shops and "did I want anything?"......I doubt I'll be getting any chocolate brought back this evening.

And....where's the rain we were supposed to get...it's been not too bad here today and now the sun is shining nicely.

annobal · 07/05/2007 19:58

Ooh i like that justbeme...
or how about
due in june...feel like a whale, thank god its soon

bumperlicious · 07/05/2007 19:58

Glad you found us flightattended. Pretty soon you'll be wondering what you did with all your spare time.

Oooh I just had a good idea. We've had a few late comers join us recently so let do a quick summary of ourselves (I just like talking about myself). Would be good to catch up on everyone elses history as v forgetful and been a few name changes:

So I'm Bumperlicious, 26, 1st baby due 18th. DH is 41, very sympathetic (most of the time) and been running around after me. Despite being well and truly planned had a mixed pg. Started off feeling pretty crap emotionally and really been a miserable whinging wretch until about 3 weeks ago. Had 2 weeks off work, and a bit of a baby epiphany, now really looking forward to it, apart from the odd minor wobble. I like shopping, eating (chocolate, ice cream, marshmallows etc.), yoga and clothes and shoes.

That's me!
