same here 006, I'e waited far too long and been through far too much to do anything about it but it would be nice to reassured or prepared.

Azure · 20/08/2004 08:39

Welcome and congratulations Tallbird and 006. 006, so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I had a nuchal fold test last time and want one this time - I will be 38 next month. I'm taking each day as it comes at the moment, so haven't thought about / discussed with DH any further tests. My instinct is that other tests would be for information only.

mitzi · 20/08/2004 11:01

Welcome to all our new mums to be,006 sorry avbout your loss .
Went to the gp this morning and she said I cant have an early scan because "it wont make any diffrence" I told her it would be more for reassurance than anything else so she said to see my midwife in 2 weeks.i will only be 8 wks then and therr is nothing a midwife can really do this early so whats the point.
Still got bad ms and sore boobs.

tassis · 20/08/2004 15:26

thanks everyone. It seems to have stopped for now so am cautiously hopeful, but still scared - didn't have this last time! I guess i just need to wait and see what happens over the next two or three days. I'll test again in a couple of days - but I'm a bit worried it would still be positive even if somehting had gone wrong - does anyone know how long it would take for the hormone level to drop? Or would i def know because there'd be more bleeding?

Twiga · 21/08/2004 16:11

Miranda2, hope you are ok and it's not bad news. I've posted this on the ttc thread as well - wasn't sure which one you'd look at first so thought would cover all bases. Have had a quick chat with DH (is a DR) and his advice is to get an emergency appt with your GP first opportunity. GP will be able to do blood test for Bhcg, with a repeat test 48hours later - this will help determine if your baby is still growing or not. Also available might be an early scan depending on local maternity hospital services, this might be the best option as they are specialists - GP will refer you if this available and what you want. Sometimes you will have a small bleed around the time of your AF despite maintaining a normal pg. Urine tests may not become negative for up to a week after a mc so shouldn't be relied upon. Hope this is of some use - we're thinking of you x x

Hi all. Can I join you?

I think my due date is towards the end of April. I am deliberately not looking up the exact date because I don't want to get all my hopes up like last time (I started the October 2004 thread, but mc at 9 wks).

I'm glad there are so many people here - lots of moral support!

No symptoms so far apart from the obvious tiredness and quite a bit of period type pain.

mitzi · 22/08/2004 18:29

Congratulations Fisil,I know exactley how you feel,I had a mc in dec and its devasting.I am terrified of it happening again and am paranoid of every little niggle , if my ms wears off a bit and I am scrutinising the tissue after wiping myself after going to the loo.But we have to stay positive and hope for the best.

Hope everyones had a good weekend.
Congrats Fisil and welcome.
Hope you're okay Miranda2.
No changes for me, except that we've had 2 lots of friends over this weekend and and have had some "knowing" looks (although nothing was said) from them becauseI declined the wine!!!

bunny2 · 22/08/2004 21:47

fisil, congratulations . Really pleased for you. Enjoy the next 8 months!

006, skimming this thread I see you are having a nuchal scan. I did so at 12 wks (am now 27 wks) and got a bad result. As I refused an amnio because of the miscarriage risk (had 2 of those already) I had to endure 8 weeks of hell before fining out things looked ok at my anomoly scan. I wished again and again that I had never had the blasted nuchal scan. I am not trying to talk you out of it but just want you to be aware that the result might not ease your worries and then there is no going back. Good luck with it.

Seabird · 23/08/2004 09:01

Fisil that's fantastic news - many congratulations . I started the "Due May 2004" thread (m/c at almost 12 weeks) so know all about false hopes. We went to my parents' house for this weekend and I couldn't bring myself to say I was pregnant - I don't want to face the reality yet because I'm so aware of what can go wrong. I hate not saying, though, especially to my mum. Maybe I'll tell them when I see them next week for Ds's birthday, should all be well.

Miranda2 - how are you today? Spotting / light bleeding is very common in pregnancy - lots of people on this website have gone on to have healthy babies afterwards. I hope everything's ok.

Azure · 23/08/2004 09:05

Well done Seabird for that list. I guess we are reaching the end of people joining this thread - it'll be strange seeing a "Due May 2005" thread.
