Tallbird - Glad it went okay yesterday. I hope you can have a reasonable week until the results come back. Try to stay focused on the 10 in 11 chance that everything will be fine!!!! (Aren't statistics awful!)
I'm going okay. I have to have some bloods taken next week but haven't made my appointment for that yet. My m/s is gone except for the occasional need to "purge" my stomach first thing in the morning. Glad to hear most others are getting out of the m/s phase too.
Our plans to move back to Australia aren't happening as soon as we thought so we've booked a trip to Budapest for a week instead to console ourselves. Does any one know if I can go in the mineral baths there? I'm not too sure about it. It sounds like a spa/whirlpool - hot water = lots of bactereia so unsafe when pregnant - but then I thought maybe it's different because its full of minerals... anyone been there?

lol 006 I don't think that a trip to Legoland could ever be called relaxing
I'm going to be really disappointed if I have to go a WATCH dh and the kids swim in a mineral bath in Budapest. I'm being really vindictive now and thinking that I hope they don't allow children either and then none of us can go except him! He wouldn't do it on his own I don't think!

motherpeculiar · 20/10/2004 09:51

Fingers crossed for you Tallbird. I hope everything turns out ok.

Nothing much happening with me except that sometimes the bump looks massive and sometimes non-existent. Seems a bit weird but nevermind.

I'm 17 weeks or so now and I'd like to start feeling some movement soon. Anyone else felt anything yet? I remember with DD1 it was very reassuring once she started punching me in the ribs continuously

nellyk · 20/10/2004 11:53

MP I know exactly what you mean re bump. It's with me today BTW.

I had rumblings BEFORE I was pregnant that reminded me of what I'd always assumed were DD1's early movements.

Tallgirl, have you been able to think through what you would do with a positive CVS or are you trying to avoid this? I know a friend of a friend who had several cycles of IVF got pregnant but terminated after an amnio. It must have been a terrible decision to have to make. Did you have your blood test with a nuchal scan I take it? I decided not to pay for a triple test and decided to keep my fingers crossed. Good luck

Tallbird · 20/10/2004 13:33

Nellyk, am slightly trying to avoid thinking about a positive CVS result - but if it does come to that, then we would opt for a termination - though as you say, it's a difficult desicion to make, so fingers tightly crossed.
I didn't have a blood test with the nuchal scan - they don't seem to offer that option here. It amazes me the different levels of care that seem to be offered depending on where you live !

DelGirl · 20/10/2004 16:24

Hi Tallbird, hope all is well with you apart from the anxious wait. I assume you are now over the risk of m/c? Keeping my fingers tightly crossed for a good result.

I'm a bit like that with my 'bump', some days it feel 'popped' and others it doesn't. Very odd. However all is well, had another m/w appt this afternoon and heard my baby's heart beat. It was so lovely and quite overwhelming. The m/w was lovely and gave me a hug. She wasn't my normal m/w but was very nice but she was a bit embarrassed cos she asked me if my partner would be with me at the birth and I said, well hopefully in spirit. All feels good today, even after the terrible m/s that I had this morning

bronniemuldoon · 20/10/2004 16:56

Awww, that sounds lovely Delgirl. Can't wait to hear the heartbeat - got my next midwives appt on Friday so might hear it then. I have to take DS with me so have started introducing the idea that there's a baby in mummy's tummy gradually as I think hearing the heartbeat might seem a bit weird for him. Not that it's probably registering - he looked at me as if I was a bit mad when I told him!

Fingers crossed for you for next week Tallbird. xx

rydercup · 21/10/2004 19:28

Hi - know exactly what you ladies mean - I am 15 weeks today and feeling at that in between stage - some days feel very pregnant...others weirdly not - just desperate for movement to start - with second babies...are you supposed to feel it earlier (felt DS1 at about 16/17 weeks!!!)

DelGirl · 21/10/2004 19:30

I think you are supposed to feel it earlier. Never carried one past 10 weeks until now but I'm sure I can feel something some days. Can't wait for that 1st unmistakable kick in the ribs. Will I regret saying that in a few weeks like I did when I said I wanted m/s oh foolish foolish moi!

motherpeculiar · 22/10/2004 16:48

I always found the moving and kicking really really nice with DD. It's when a heel gets wedged in your ribs for acouple of weeks that you really notice

I remember when DD eventually popped out, I looked at her heel and immediately recognised it from seeing it under my skin. That was a very strange (nice strange) moment!

I was fairly late feeling anything with DD (22wks or so) but think things are kicking off ( at bad pun) with bump now (think I'm about 17 wks). Hurrah.

Now I've just got to sort out some maternity wear - can't find anything from last time. Did I hear somewhere that topshop are now doing maternity stuff? anyone know if the branch in Oxford st. stocks it?

Keep kicking babes!

DelGirl · 22/10/2004 16:54

ooh, only a couple of weeks or so then, really can't wait to feel my baby move

Seabird · 24/10/2004 20:09

Just back from Wales - another week vegging pathetically on my mother's sofa. Can't wait to get my energy back! On a happier note, I started feeling the baby moving last week (I felt DD at 16 weeks too)

Delgirl if you think you can feel it you probably can . Like mother peculiar I always enjoyed feeling DD move. It's not in ANY WAY comparable with the discomfort of m/s, I'm glad to say!

I've just bought some lovely maternity trousers from Mamas and Papas - I didn't know they did maternity clothes as well as pushchairs! Chocolate brown needlecords, and they fit NOW - all my old stuff is still too big, but can't fit into non-mat stuff. WEre £40, but £20 in sale. AND ds spent all the time I was looking happily playing on a ride on train in the shop, so we were both happy! I've been really disappointed with most maternity wear this time round - had a look in Next last week and didn't like any of it, ditto mothercare today. Friends have lent me a lot though, thank goodness.

bronniemuldoon · 25/10/2004 13:23

I know what you mean Miranda2 - I feel really frumpy at the moment. Why is it that every pair of maternity trousers I own make my a**e look the same size as my bump???? Feeling a definite need to pay a trip to the shops ASAP.

Haven't felt any kicking yet but it's early days for me. Didn't feel anything last time until about 19 1/2 wks so trying not to get too excited about it yet. I agree, it's a lovely feeling... although you may well not hear me saying that next year as I moan my way through the last couple of months!!!!

I took DS to my midwives appt on Friday and he was very good although got quite scared by the noise of the heartbeat thing. It took AGES to find the heartbeat (quite a scary moment) but in some ways that was good as DS got used to the loud swirly gurgly noise and then we heard the heartbeat. Ahhhhh. He was very sweet and told me earnestly that it "sounds like train but not a train - a baby". Bless.

Lucy99 · 25/10/2004 14:07

Hi All, In answer to your question Motherpeculiar, Top Shop at Oxford Circus do stock the maternity range and it is very good. Also, Dorothy Perkins do some really good jeans for £25 that have the adjustable waistband so they fit even if your bump is small. Bought another pair of jeans in H&M but they just keep falling down as bump not big enough to hold them up!
Still getting odd bouts of morning sickness but mostly just suffering from heartburn and burping which is quite revolting. Gaviscon is my new best friend!

chatee · 25/10/2004 15:33

Feeling a bit disappointed......

had a m/w appt today and was hoping to hear the heartbeat, but we didnt. M/w wasnt worried as i am only 15+2. My surgery only have ante natal clinics on a monday and i go away to florida on saturday for 2 weeks and wanted my appt before i went. Wish i had waited til i came back now - that'll teach me to be impatient!!

So far i have bought 3 pairs of trousers, although one pair was just in the next size up and only stays up if i wear a belt!

Miranda2 - i also got a nice pair of trousers from M&P. Have you tried looking on Blooming Marvelous's website - they have some nice bits and pieces.

DelGirl · 25/10/2004 18:13

Hi all. Well the m/s made a reappearance for the weekend and today so far . Feeling so so tired but anyway...............

Has anyone else had this? From lunchtime today I've had this sort of pulling/dragging sensation just below my belly button but it's only when I stand up. I experiences a similar snsation after I had a laparoscopy. Anyone? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but that seems to be my middle name

xoz · 25/10/2004 19:08

Delgirl - yes I get that feeling often. Not all the time but just occasionally when I stand up quickly after sitting, esp. if I've been sitting for a while. I call it stretching pains, but I don't know if that's what it is. It HURTS so I can completely sympathise. I had this with both previous pg's too, so I think it's one of the many weird and wonderful "normal" experiences of pregnancy! My m/s also seems to come and go at will. Some days I feel great, not a sign of it. Others I throw up first thing and them feel okay for the rest of the day. And then others I feel like crap all day, this seems to coincide with eating rich and/or very spice-laden food. very coz I love Thai and that seems one of the worst offenders at the moment, along with chocolate!!! Again this is very similar to my other 2 pg's so I'm not worrying too much.

DelGirl · 25/10/2004 19:13

thanks xoz, glad to know its normal, tho I sort of knew it was but.....

No food seems to trigger off the m/s or anything, no rhyme or reason whatsoever, same goes for heartburn too. I think it's time I was blooming but the only thing blooming about me at the moment is my spots . Don't usually suffer, just being drained of all goodness it seems.

On a lighter more positive note I am starting to get excited and talk to my bump abit and am always 'cradling' it too, imaging my baby bouncing around awwwww.

xoz · 25/10/2004 19:18

delgirl that's really nice. I remember talking to my bump during 1st pg (now dd1 3.9) but all i rmember with pg 2 and so far this one is tryng to protect it from being jumped all over!!!! It's great when you get to 2nd trimester because you ca relax a bit. The high risk time is virtually over and you're not feeling like a beached whale just yet. If only the m/s would go away completely.....

xoz · 25/10/2004 19:20

Is it just me with an ultra slow computer or do we need to start a part 2 thread... It seems to take me ages to be able to add a message these days!!!

DelGirl · 25/10/2004 19:22

I had a weird moment yesterday, not that I haven't thought about it alot anyway but I went to the cemetary yesterday, 1st time since my treatment (felt so rubbush before) and I was standding in front of the headstone thinking omg, your ashes are underneath me and your baby is inside me, all very real and such a miracle.

DelGirl · 25/10/2004 19:23

I was thinking of starting a new one too, shall we? on my last post it may be best, dont want to depress anyone and it hasnt me iykwim
