Sorry nellyk - Big Fat Positive ie positive pregnancy test.

I like your positive attitude, I shall try to think in similar terms!

Hi seabird, mosegirl, nellyk, strawberry.
I've graduated from ttc 8. This morning I got a BFP!!! Think I'm about 4.5 weeks (AF due last Saturday on an approx 28 day cycle) which according to the calculator on the Bounty website makes me due Apr 16.
Here's to good pregnancies for us all and lots more people joining us.

DelGirl · 11/08/2004 17:43

Hello, can I join this thread please?

Well, I was going to leave it for a while but MN has got the better of me. Tested twice, couldn't wait for today and tested early on Monday and again today and both times have had a BFP . A bit nervous but laid back at the same time if that's possible. It hasn't quite sunk in yet. Due April 20th.

DelGirl · 11/08/2004 17:56

oh and symptoms so far, nausea, sharp twinges and a sort of pulling sensation, sore ovaries and TIRED oh and having to use the loo about a hundred times a day oh and did I mention the tiredness!

Seabird · 11/08/2004 20:18

Welcome and congratulations DelGirl & xoz

I'm so bogged down in dd's and my colds I haven't had a chance to notice any other symptoms yet, which I suppose is a good thing!

OP posts:
xoz · 12/08/2004 09:58

Welcome Delgirl
I haven't got much in the way of symptoms yet. Been really irritable for the last 2 weeks, which also happened with both previous pg's. But that seems to have passed now. Feeling a bit crampy but not too bad, and a tiny bit nauseous in the mornings but fine once I eat..... been to the GP this morning to get "in the system" as he put it. He said everything was fine at this point so now I just wait until I hear from the midwives at the local hospital I guess.

DelGirl · 12/08/2004 13:19

hi, does anyone know of any low cal foods that can help with m/s? I had some plain hula hoops this morning and they seemed to help a bit but I'm trying to be a bit careful with my weight so trying to avoid high cal stuff. thanks

strawberry · 12/08/2004 14:48

Welcome and congratulations delgirl and xoz. Hopefully more will be joining us from ttc thread - baby dust to them!

Having a protein-based snack apparently helps with ms - cheese sarnie, yoghurt etc. I'm quite partial to cold cooked meat from the fridge! Also if you do get ms first thing in the morning, try to have some supper at bedtime as can be due to low blood sugar levels from fasting overnight. Something complex carb based which will keep you going thru' night (ie. wholemeal bread, 'good' cereal). And the classic ginger biscuits or crackers by the bed first thing in the morning! When all else fails there's always the (revolting) Gaviscon liquid which is ok to take when pg.

I still don't have any symptoms but not even 5 weeks yet. Not even particularly tired.

How's everyone else?

nellyk · 13/08/2004 07:39

welcome to delgirl and xoz. xxx

A low cal food would be a rice cake or a water biscuit cracker.

No real symtoms for me, even the vague nausea seems to have gone. DH would prob say I was irritable

I told DH about a week after I realised I was pg, he said he had already guessed as I'd been acting wierd, though. Not sure if that was a compliment.

Haven't told anyone else really. Don't want to tell work until after the scan. Same goes for friends.

For some reason I am not ready for that whole 'congratulations' thing. It seems pointless until the baby gets here. I am sure my view will change once I am ready to tell people.

Has anyone else spilled the beans yet?

Seabird · 13/08/2004 09:30

sorry to hear about the nausea DelGirl.

I'm still feeling completely rotten with this cold . No m/s yet, though I remember initially last time it felt like I was going down with something, so maybe the fact that I actually have gone down with something is disguising it.

I'm crap at keeping things to myself so have told loads and loads of people - all the close friends I happen to have seen and my ante natal group (partly I'm hoping someone else will decide to take the plunge too!). I'd tell them anyway if something went wrong. Not the in-laws. Kind of wish I hadn't told my mum, even though we're close - she had my brother and sister 13 months apart and I get the feeling she disapproves of the small age gap I'll have (17mo). Then again I seem to be feeling completely paranoid all round at the moment so I could be imagining it! (I had this last time too. I think it wore off once the nausea took hold and gave me something else to think about!)

How's the head, MoseGirl?

Hello all - I'd like to join this thread! Did a test last Friday, and am busting to talk about it - only dh knows so far. I think I will be due April 11th. Feel a bit of a fraud - don't have any symptoms and do not feel at all pg! Really excited though!

DelGirl · 13/08/2004 16:01

congratulations munchk2n .

I've told a few people but mostly if they've asked.

The nausea is not quite as bad today and I think that's because I ate more yesterday so wasn't hungry when I woke up. Maybe that's the trick, thanks Strawberry

Seabird · 13/08/2004 18:09

Hi Munchk2n & congratulations!

OP posts:
xoz · 13/08/2004 18:16

Congrats munchk2n and welcome
We haven't told anyone yet, was out with a friend today and was busting to tell but didn't. Even tried dropping a few hints but she didn't ask... Won't tell dd's until it starts to show, 9 months is a long time to wait when you're 3 and 2.
Have to talk to dh about when we'll tell our parents, as they are all in Australia, so we may wait a bit to make sure everything is okay.
Sorry you're feeling sick seabird, hope the cold goes away quickly. I've been feeling a bit more nauseous today, but it's okay if I eat something when I feel sick. I hope it turns into full blown sickness soon or I'm going to put on a stack of weight this time!!!

mitzi · 13/08/2004 22:01

hi girls, Well I've graduated from the ttc 8 thread also.I think i am due on 18th April if I have worked out my dates properly. I am a regular mumsnetter but posting under a different name as I dont want people to know yet.I think we are going to tell parents and brothers and sisters next week but thats all.I had a m/c in December so dh doesn't want to tell anyone till we know everything is ok he said he couldnt cope with having to tell people that we had lost a baby again if anything did go wrong, (but its not).
I am feeling knackered and slightly nauseous in the ealy afternoon and really narky so Dh is getting it in the neck at every little thing that he does or says. sorry for the long post. xx

mitzi · 13/08/2004 22:03

What do you think the chances are of me getting an early scan? I misscarried at 13 wks but the baby only measured 9wks last time.

DelGirl · 13/08/2004 22:26

HI Mitzi, i'm sure you can. Do you have any early pregnancy unit at your local hospital? You can usually phone up and go in the same day. I've m/c'd twice myself. They're usually very sympathetic.

DelGirl · 13/08/2004 22:28

btw, they'll probably only do it from about 6 or 7 weeks as you can't see anything much before then.

mitzi · 13/08/2004 22:31

We have the Liverpool womens hospital here so I am sure they have an EPU.I will make an appointment for my gp next week and hopefully she will refer me for an early scan.

motherpeculiar · 16/08/2004 10:33

Hi everyone

congratulations to you all and Mitzi I hope you manage to get your mind put to rest soon.

I think I'm due April 1st, but will probably be late as I was almost two weeks late with DD.

Not too many awful symptoms. A bit of nausea, extreme tiredness (but possibly due to work, weather and DD's demands as much as anything else!) and slightly bigger boobs (not a bad thing as I am normally quite, eh, curveless on top)

Feeling a bit in shock as it all happened very quickly. DH and I are still trying to come to terms with the prospect of two.

We haven't told anyone yet (apart from SIL who happened to be there when I came back from the loo with the test in my hand!) as we want time to sort things out in our minds so we'll wait until after the first scan (sept 20th).

Good luck to you all.

X

Azure · 16/08/2004 11:13

Can I join you too? I am a lucky graduate from ttc#8, having found out last night that I was pregnant. I have a DS who will be 3 at the end of this month. I sadly had a m/c at just under 12 weeks last October, so am nervous about being pregnant again. My due date is April 23 - Shakespeare's birthday (and death-day), and St. George's day - maybe I will have a William George! Oddly, I was sorting out DS's baby clothes only yesterday afternoon (before finding out I was pregnant) - bagging them by age to put in storage. If this one is a girl, she is going to be wearing an awful lot of blue!

nellyk · 16/08/2004 11:58

Hi Mitzi, Mother Peculiar and Azure

Mitzi, I'd be interested to know what your GP said. I asked my GP for early scan due to m/c previously. She said I wouldn't get on NHS until 18 weeks. I know this is not the case in my area as had scan with dd1 at 11 + 18 wks..

rydercup · 16/08/2004 12:15

Hello all - I also found out a week ago that I am pregnant again (due on 16th April). Already have 1 DS aged 19 months and don't feel as bad this time round as did last time - maybe I just have a higher tolerance now i.e. feel knackered all the time anyway!! Suffered with terrible m/s last time starting around 7 weeks so waiting for that to kick in (although I understand it doesn't always happen second time round!). Good luck all - looking forward to the updates!

xoz · 16/08/2004 15:54

Welcome motherpeculiar, Azure and rydercup!!!It so nice to have more people joining us.
Rydercup, we have the same due date only I'm on number 3. Although if I follow the trend set by dd1 & 2, I'll be 11 days over....
At the moment I am still feeling slight nausaea all day long which is only stopped by eating (chocolate seems to work best ) and a bit of a bloaty/crampy feeling around the stomach. Still finding it a bit hard to believe, but am also very anxious to tell everyone. Have managed to restrain myself so far. Anyone else started to tell people???

MrsDoolittle · 16/08/2004 16:50

Seabird - IMHO April is a fab time to have a baby. You get Easter off and a lovely summer to enjoy your baby. Maybe it's coincidence but dd has not had any spots and I think it's because we have been outside in the fresh air so much.

Both of us look bright-eyed and healthy. Dd is now 4 1/2 months - she loves looking around her at the leaves and birds outside. And it's great when it's so warm she gets to kick her legs around outside on a rug in her birthday suit.

Good luck to you all. This summer has been the best I can ever remember
