Morning,

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SKYTVADDICT · 04/05/2007 09:53

Happy birthday LW.

I didn't watch midwife programme either - too scary.

LW - the sweep was more uncomfortable than painful but hasn't worked yet. Thought in the night again that I was having pains and was awake for about 4 hours only for them to go away AGAIN!

Really tired today, going round to a friend for lunch and also waiting to hear how neice gets on as her GP eventually managed to get her an appointment at a totally different hospital for a scan. At least she will know one way or the other and not have to wait over the weekend.

ShowOfHands · 04/05/2007 09:56

Morning everybody. I am so pleased that the sun has gone in and it's going to rain all weekend. Lovely. I couldn't stand being hot anymore or swollen or itchy or irritable. I'm actually going out tonight (don't remember what that's like) to see a band with DH. It's sort of an early anniversary celebration I suppose. Worry not though it's not an ACDC type mosh gig, it's a 38wk pregnant, very reserved, sit and clap in appreciation type grown-up affair. Haven't been moshing since I was about 30wks pregnant. Going to see Phil Beer and Jackie Oates (and for the uninitiated amongst you they are folkie types).

Tickets go on sale on Sunday for Cambridge Folk Festival and I can't decide whether to go down to Cambridge and queue in person. The tickets sell out very, very quickly and last year I spent 8hrs on the phone trying to get through and only just got tickets. Dare I stand in a queue for 8hrs instead?

Is anybody else getting 'have you had the baby yet?' phonecalls on a daily basis? I think my family is convinced I might neglect to tell them that I've produced life from my fanjo. Had it at 7.30am from my brother with his 'just wondered if there are any developments?' call. I managed to resist shouting 'YES, I CAN'T URINATE MORE THAN A THIMBLE FULL AT A TIME AND MY BREASTS LEAK WHEN I MOVE- IS THAT ENOUGH DEVELOPMENT FOR YOU?'. I was very polite, but it's getting harder.

Bensonbluebird · 04/05/2007 10:00

Yep, have been getting those phone calls. I've also been sort of avoiding phoneing my parents or the out-laws in case they think we've had a baby. Probably doesn't help...

LupinsBigLump · 04/05/2007 10:05

Morning all, I have 5 pairs of disposable knickers left - any takers, am going to post office this morning and can pop them in the post

ShowOfHands · 04/05/2007 10:13

Are disposable pants a good idea? I hear mixed things about them... can I be really, really nosey and ask what the post-birth bleeding was like? I've got some maternity pads and some ultra-winged, engined, nighttime, superduper things. Not sure if I've got too many/too few.

I've been avoiding calling people too as everytime I say 'oh hi it's SOH' I can hear the intake of breath and expectant pause. Heard all about the spoiled ballots in Scotland, atrocious really, negates you living in a democracy. I live in a constituency that has been Conservative for 7 million years by a majority of 99%. And as a pinko liberal it's painful.

twelveyeargap · 04/05/2007 10:14

SOH, do NOT queue for 8 hours. You will regret it. You'll just end up with very sore feet and a sore back and even after that, it might not make Mathilda come. Actually, you could end up queuing for 4 hours, going into very advanced labour, giving birth in Cambridge and more to the point, missing the tickets altogether!

Happy Birthday LW. Hope you have a lovely day.

LupinsBigLump · 04/05/2007 10:26

SOH I have heard there are net knickers that are better, but I got these ffp from another mnetter and didnt so sisnt see the point in getting net ones, also with cs you need BIG pants to go over your would and these are BIG pants lol, I think there are lots of varients on post birth bleeding, i did bleed heavily and had a drain in but for some it might be like a heavy period and you could get away with big pad and normal knickers, if you would like them i will gladly post them to you - at least you have them as back up just in case, as for pad i found the always super dooper night time with wings were great, i did have maternity pads (again obtained ffp) and they are pretty bulky and not really any more absorbant than the always ones

LW happy birthday have a lovely day

Bensonbluebird · 04/05/2007 10:27

SOH - you could take your pool and a midwife with you and provide some entertainment for the queue... DO you know anyone else who is planning to go who could queue for you?

ShowOfHands · 04/05/2007 10:40

Lupins, can I say yes please? Do you still have my address?

Everybody I know who's going to the festival is hoping I'll get tickets for them (because I'm on mat leave and have nothing better to do apparently). I hate the whole process- tickets all snapped up by touts who camp overnight on the pavement, appearing on Ebay within minutes of going on sale. I think it'll be redial all day on Sunday then.

aprilmeadow · 04/05/2007 10:54

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LW - hope you have a great day. Arent you going home this weekend??

LupinsBigLump · 04/05/2007 11:12

SOH I have your email so will email you now for your addy

I know when we wanted take that tickets there was 3 of us trying for hours to get tkts ended up with crappy ones in manchester - but some people have loads of good ones on ebay we couldnt even get 4 reasonable ones with out paying loads of money to the touts grrrr - AM only a few months left hun and we will be boogying!! I love glastonbury festival would love to take the kids in a few years

aprilmeadow · 04/05/2007 11:44

Hey Lups! How you doing? I cant wait til November!!! Now doing a little dance on my chair at the thought of seeing Mark Owen :-)

scootermum · 04/05/2007 13:02

Net pants SOH-all the way-four quid off of NCT sales-you will need them or some sort of disposable undies Im afraid for at least a few days-average about 10 I think..

Happy Birthday Lwatkins...hope you dont have to spent the whole day doing work..(You arent still cooking for the flatmates from hell tonight are you?!)

I met a woman at church, (at Christmas-im not a regular goer BTW), who was born in our house Cameroonmama..quite spooky really as she looked about 100 years old..but she was quite sweet and was telling me all about it, when there were 6 kids in here and no electric...(So I can certainly do it with two eh?)

Oh SKY-I felt so sure would log on and find you with baby-keeping everything crossed that something will happen for you soon..

Know what you mean re the CM and entertainment factor abby-DD totally bored with me I fear...doesnt help that I am as mobile as a weeble at the moment I guess...

DO NOT que anywhere for 8 hours SOH...I mean it...you will just have to sit by the phone..

Todays disasters chez Scoot..Boiler on the blink-no hot water...Why not? thats what I say..just waiting for the obligatory plague of locusts to arrive and then the picture will be complete!
Estate agents have just called to say we have a viewing at 7 tonight,(very pro active of them, but cant believe have to go through all this again)I asked my Mum very politely if she wouldnt mind just packing her stuff away so it looked a bit tidier for the viewing...she flew totally off the handle, said something about 'why didnt she just leave now?' and has now stormed off to the garden centre..Now Im not being funny but Im not sure I really need that kind of reaction right at this moment in time...

Our other interested people are on holiday at the mo, TYG but they went in to the agents before they left and were still asking about the house so thats quite hopeful-although they are still to sell theirs..
We showed the bit of the survey we had to our friends Dad who is a structural engineer-he said it all seemed very fishy as the issues identified are common to all older houses apparently-although this is without seeing it-he is coming round next week to take a proper look-another £400 down the drain, but will be good to get some peace of mind, (hopefuly...)

Off to call boiler man now, I beg of you....

scootermum · 04/05/2007 13:05

Hows this for mentalist behaviour?A friend I know from up the road who has twins has just called round for a visit, (unplanned) but I cant be bothered seeing anyone today what with everything else... I saw her coming so I hid in the bathroom till she left...I am an utter disgrace!
I feel awful now-will have to go and call on her later...I have finally lost the plot...

Bensonbluebird · 04/05/2007 13:27

Scoot, sounds like you have enough on your plate without dealing with visitors too so I can sympathise with your hiding.

Your mum must know how stressed you are with your house sale so it is definitely unfair of her to fly off the handle like that (it's not as if what you had asked her to do was unreasonable either). Hope the viewing goes well this evening. Good luck with your boiler too, ours is ever on the verge of dying and I'm petrified it will happen in the middle of filling the pool. Can't find anyone to replace it till June though.

Happy Birthday LW - have you done your presentation?

AbbyLou · 04/05/2007 13:27

Not mentalist Scooter but totally understandable I would say. I was supposed to take ds to the park this afternoon for apicnic/play and for me to meet up with al my NCT friends from last time. They are a brilliant bunch of girls who have been a brilliant support network to have over the last 2 years but tbh, today I just couldn't be bothered to see them. It means getting in the car, driving to Derby, sitting on a blanket on the grass in the cold (not the most comfortable) and walking round and round the park for 3 hours. I sound so miserable but ds has gone to sleep which means I can rest and I just can't be bothered to make any effort at the mo!

MKG · 04/05/2007 13:30

Happy Birthday Lwat!

Well I slept like a rock last night, and am in much better spirits.

No one gives me the "Are you still pregnant?" question, but everytime I call someone they get all excited especially my sil. She is so funny because she knows that dh works about 1 hr from the hospital and has very long hours and I may need to call her for an emergency, so now when I call she says, "What is it, is everything ok, how are you feeling" I usually say "No, I'm just bored and tired of being pregnant"

My plunger is in the garage for today, but now that the baby has the hiccups and I feel like he's going to bust out of my fanjo I may bring it upstairs soon.

LupinsBigLump · 04/05/2007 13:37

Scoot I wouldnt feel about about hiding - your friend should have called 1st in your condition you could have been having a kip, hope you get boiler fixed soon

juliewoolie · 04/05/2007 14:19

Scoot sounds like you need a rest from all the crap thats going on. Your mum should really be a bit more understanding, she knows what you have been going through. Dont worry about the hiding thing I have turned off from MSN and dont answer my mob anymore as its doing my head head in. Luckily we live in a flat so I can ignore the buzzer.

LW forgot to say many happy returns welcome to your 20's it means you are so much more sophisticated now. Well you can pretend to be, ;)

Bit bored today have just spent hours cleaning our flat how can a 2 bedroom flat take 4 hours to clean?!

RedKennedy · 04/05/2007 14:20

Hello lovely ladies!
Apologies for the prolonged absence, but had to knock MN on the head and get my head down to work for a while. God how grown up.
Anyway - how are you all?
Whos dropped? Whos imminent? You are all still as chatty as ever, Ive just skimmed this thread but gave up making notes..

Ive got 15 days left til due day, not much sign of any action down below except some pretty bad back aches and tonnes of BHs. Apart from that, I think I might still be here in June... god help me.

Isnt the weather LOVELY! I gave up work last Friday but Im back in today cos a) I was bored (I cant believe it either) and 2) Im still trying to transfer my itunes to my home computer and its doing my head in.

I hope everyone is in good spirits and happy and healthy and GOD I CANT BELIEVE ITS MAY!
It seems like yesterday we were bottom of the pile, and it was the due in december lot who were getting all the action.. and we were all having our 20week scans...how time flys...

love
pxxx
