Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
aprilmeadow · 03/05/2007 16:20

Yay our first offical May Baby! Congrats Dejags. Great size! Ella was 3wks &2days early and she was less than 6lbs.

Got Ella registered today, so now i can apply for child benefit, open a bank account and send off for her passport!

Sky - are you having a sweep today?

MrsJB - sorry but did have to chuckle at Maddie! We dont have any shelves or anything around Jacks bed as he would do the same! lol at her being a naturist when she is older. How you doing today?? half expected to wake up to a text

aprilmeadow · 03/05/2007 16:33

I have started 'THE OFFICIAL' May 2007 Post Natal Thread seeing as how we have had our 'first' May baby.

Come on babies time to start arriving

LupinsBigLump · 03/05/2007 16:41

hi i dont believe it i am away from mn for a fw days and you've all started poppin amd lgt has given us another false alarm - must not stay away so long again!!

Congrats to dejags, tmp and drkpink well done on all you little bundles

Will try and catch up properly soon, hopefully check in later to get ev1 elses news xx

ShowOfHands · 03/05/2007 17:00

Congratulations dejags. Carys Faith is a beautiful name and I'm looking forward to hearing all about her. I'm incredibly pleased that you managed to have a natural- if painful- delivery after all of your concerns. How was the hospital? I know they don't like rooming-in etc over there. I think it's the 4th delivery that's easiest.

Juliewoolie, great news on the placenta moving. Oh and don't worry about tearing and pain. Childbirth doesn't hurt. It's one quick free painless manoeuvre and anybody that disagrees can respect my right to denial.

MrsJB meant to say earlier that Maddie sounds like a lot of fun atm. It does not bode well that when you describe her antics and LG&T talks about Hugs I just think it's extremely cute. I think I'm going to be changing my opinion of cute toddler behaviour some time in the next few years when Mathilda is attempting to ride the cat round the house for the Nth time that day.

I'm in such a grump today. I'm sick of DH working until midnight every day and me moping round the house wondering when this 17lb tank's going to put in an appearance. It's our wedding anniversary on Monday and I feel like such a fat old frump who can't even get off the sofa without assistance. I love being pregnant in countless ways but I want my body back. And the ability to breathe. And climb stairs. Now, Mathilda. It's time I tell you.

AbbyLou · 03/05/2007 17:02

Many congrats Dejags on your little girl, I love her name. She was a very good weight wasn't she? Well after spending the morning in agony I went for lunch with a friend, did a bit of ironing, pickled up ds from the cm and now I feel fine. Think baby is back on my sciatic nerve though as I have a niggly pain right in the middle of my right bum cheek!

aprilmeadow · 03/05/2007 17:16

Mathilda listen to your mother!! It's time!

Abbylou - that sounds painful or annoying or both!

SKYTVADDICT · 03/05/2007 17:35

Been to consultant and had a sweep. Wow - it was not very nice - hurt and was very uncomfortable! Cervix is soft and he could get one finger in whatever that means!

Also, booked in for induction on Monday if nothing happens before then.

Going to visit a new baby this evening that was due on the same day last week and was only one day late. Looking forward to a cuddle.

aprilmeadow · 03/05/2007 17:37

Sky - thats great news on the sweep front. Also great to know that the end is in sight. When pg with ds i was given an induction date and he arrived 3 days prior to it. I hope you have the luck!!

Lwatkins · 03/05/2007 17:41

What do they do exactly with a sweep? Hands up the old fandango type thing? Can they feel the babies head when they do it, if they can that's quite a long way up isn't it?

aprilmeadow · 03/05/2007 17:45

Thats pretty much it LW! I think they run their finger round the cervix and then they can tell the position of it whether it is softening (thats a good thing) and whether or not you have started dialating. All in all not a pleasant experience. Its a bit like having a smear - in the unconfortable kind of way!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/05/2007 17:46

AM- Sorry I missed you on MSN, I was cooking. Feeling fine thanks. Sorry NO text this morning.

SOH, you keep telling that little girl (she won't listen though, she's a girl, she will be defiantly late, )

OP posts:
Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/05/2007 17:53

LW they can feel the babies head when they do a sweep. You probably can too if it's engaged. It's not that far up.

OP posts:
Lwatkins · 03/05/2007 17:59

Eeeeeeewwwwwwwww! Don't want no nasty doctors putting his paws up my fango! Unless I'm overdue in which case I'll go in there myself for her!

AbbyLou · 03/05/2007 17:59

How soon do they do a sweep? Do you have to be overdue before they do one? I've got the mw next Wednesday and I will be 39+4, do you think they'll do one then?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/05/2007 18:23

Abbylou, I think it differs from place to place. I know when I was pg with ds in the UK it was term before they would do it. Over here it is when your cervix has softened and shortened then they'll do it. But they don't know when that is in the Uk because you don't get the Internal.
I'm seeing the midwife on Monday, I'll ask her to do a good sweep if my cervix is good, I'll be 38+3.

Lwatkins · 03/05/2007 18:35

At my hospital (in Scotland) I don't think they even consider giving you one (sweep) till term @ 40 weeks. Induction won't happen until your at least 12 days overdue.

MKG · 03/05/2007 18:48

Congrats Dejags!

Feeling better now, although feeling very tired. I just scarfed down a Big Mac and finished the grocery shopping. The house is clean and the laundry is going. Everything for the baby is ready so he can come any time.

Any minute now . . .

Lwat don't feel too bad about a sweep. I don't think they're very common on my side of the pond, but one of ob/gyns in the practice I see did a digital exam and it wasn't that bad. Of course I don't really mind internals. Figure it's the most action my fanjo has seen since conception.

cinnamontam · 03/05/2007 19:07

MKG how sad is it that internal exams are classified as 'action' That made me laugh

Yay for Dejags! Welcome Carys Bring on the photo's as it's the closest I'm getting to meet my little one.

Funny how we started off with all sorts of interesting pregnancies and now breechies are bouncing round the other way and placenta's are graciously moving aside. Extremely impressive.

Scoot - is Lily back?

Welcome to Matleave Madeindevon - tis a wonderous thing

MKG · 03/05/2007 19:24

Glad to bring a smile to your face. Unfortunately, it's the truth.

Any minute now . . . .

Lwatkins · 03/05/2007 20:19

at MKG and her plunger!

Ooooo, have eaten too many chocolate muffins when instead I should have had dinner Ahhhh well, will eat some grapes to balance it lol!

Feeling very crampy tonight, not in pain but just uncomfortable. May have overdone the walking today perhaps.

It's very quiet on here this evening, are you all having babies and being unfair que jumpers like April and dejags?

MKG · 03/05/2007 20:36

OK I have the plunger ready. This baby better come soon or I am going to lose my mind.

I hated being pregnant first time around, but I was not this uncomfortable.

Lwatkins · 03/05/2007 20:47

I think women are mad for going through it more than once lol! Honestly don't think I can do the whole pregnancy thing ever again!

Lwatkins · 03/05/2007 20:48

Oh I keep dropping grapes on the floor but I can't bend to pick them up lol! I need an extendable arm or something!

scootermum · 03/05/2007 20:50

Hi all,

Lily home, hurrah! She has learnt to jump whilst she has been away..She looks so funny when she does it..

Congrats to Dejags!Lovely name...our first May May baby..

Handed in NVQ today and asessor thinks it will all be ok..so phew....Will take 3 months though apparently to get it verified (longer than it took me to do it!), so three months till I get my pay rise, but never mind, s'all done all being well...

Mrs JB I wonder if Maddie is aware that the baby is coming and is thus being a scamp so she is assured of your attention...I wonder what Lily will be like-from the way she has been battering her baby doll today I dread to think!

Not long till home time now Lwatkins!

Hi to everyone else,(waves generally around)

No TYG today?

I have been having very strong BH all day-hope they are BH..yuck, yuck, I dont fancy a sweep at all!

scootermum · 03/05/2007 20:54

plunger!Thats an idea...for when I get desperate...TBH though the being immobile and in varying degrees of pain is still nothing compared to my fear of labour so wont be getting mine out any time soon...

Hope something moves soon for all those that want it to..
