Thought I'd start up a new thread as the old one has run out of space.

@misshannah you are right.
I'm kind of in the same boat the the moment. A job I went for was taken by someone else who apparently at interview was like the second coming of Jesus.. she's now asking me for help. I kind of want to tell her where to go, but its not her fault at the end of the day and she seems really nice. Plus, 12 months maternity leave to look forwards to and then hopefully part time afterwards! Yay!

Emh30 · 05/02/2018 10:41

Morning,

Still no sign of my scan date so will have to chase that up as I was expecting to find out last week. I’m 11+2 today, seems to have flown by. If anything I’m feeling more sick than I was before!

Please can someone add me to the Facebook group, I really struggle to keep up on her. My email is [email protected]

Thank you Smile

Gizzymum · 05/02/2018 11:24

@misshannah so is she being paid £11k more for the same job? If so that's not justifiable. I had a similar thing at my work and when I found out I got a pay rise (it was a less qualified, less experienced man in a male dominated office environment but it is a huge firm and they wouldn't want the scandal.)

bobcat85 · 05/02/2018 11:52

Scan all fine, just waiting for blood test results.
Updated due date is now the 24th August.

@grizzymum yes exactly the same job the only different being that i look after postgraduate and she undergraduate at the moment. In the near future we will both look after 1 department each but ug and pg for that department.

The 3rd team leader for another department only looks after ug, still does timetabling like me but is not required to supervise or manage the team as not in her job description.

It's a nightmare here! Thanks for the rant all. Have calmed down a bit now as free food is on offer :-)

Emmasmum2013 · 05/02/2018 12:31

I seem to have become a bit depressed today.. I think its because of the lack of sleep really but everything seems to be getting a bit on top of me.

I've been ill on and off since before Christmas. I've right now got the tickly cough from hell, which on top of residual morning sickness is not a good combo. I can't really take any more time off work for sick leave because I'll end up in front of HR. Nothing seems to taste right at all, there's nothing that's getting my appetite going despite knowing that I need to eat something to help the sickness. I've just forced a bowl of soup down and now I've got a horrible taste in my mouth.

I was awake for hours last night because of my cough, its just not what I need right now.

That, plus I seem to have gone off all sexy time with DH (sorry, TMI). Feel like my body is not my own and all I want to do is sleep constantly. I feel like a bad mum to DD as I've just got hardly any energy or patience for her at the moment.

Even the prospect of the new baby is not cheering me up. I'm worried that I'll be a tired lifeless husk of myself forever :(

Sorry ladies, I'm sure I'll feel better after a good nights rest.

YouCantBeSirius · 05/02/2018 12:37

I'm 14+5 today, have my appointment with the consultant in 11 days then I've booked a private sexing scan for the 19th of February. I'm going to take my daughter with me because she has been struggling to accept there is going to be a baby so I'm hoping she'll feel involved.

SpriteGirl · 05/02/2018 12:40

Well the dreaded phone call came this morning. High risk on my screening, 1 in 104. Hospital asked me to come in today to discuss so I’m here now just waiting for my husband to arrive. We will be having dinner the harmony test. I’m devastated and so scared.

Sparklesdontshine · 05/02/2018 12:46

What are your results @spritegirl?

I'm high risk too, 1 in 6 chance. It's so scary isn't it, I can't concentrate on anything else. Xxx

k4rlyb · 05/02/2018 13:52

@emmasmum2013 sorry to hear you're feeling low.

With your work, could you not go in and the be sent home? I know with me and my staff we see it as they've made the effort to come in and we've sent them home, doesn't go against their sick history. That's what im currently doing, go in, if I feel too bad then i'll go home.

I've got a constant metal taste in my mouth, it's not nice. I thought my sickness was getting better but last night and today it's back with full force.

haha I understand that, I'm not wanting to have sexy time, if im not feeling sick, I'm bloated and tired. Couldn't think of anything worse at the moment.

Sjc1989 · 05/02/2018 14:00

Hey I am 13 weeks today, just got over nausea and sickness and finally feeling human again. Dc4 very unexpected but excited none the less! Would love to join your chat and maybe a group if there is one :) Steph

SpriteGirl · 05/02/2018 14:07

@Sparklesdontshine I’m 1 in 104 for Downs. The other two are fine. Know what you mean about concentrating, don’t know how I’m going to get through the next few days.

Back from hospital now about to start googling clinics for harmony test. The lady at the hospital told my husband to keep me off google and mumsnet! I hadnt mentioned mumsnet at all!

Sparklesdontshine · 05/02/2018 14:31

Ha ha mumsnet has been helpful for me, I have been trawling through the antenal test board!

Did they give you a breakdown of your numbers?
NT, HGCp and Papp-a?

SpriteGirl · 05/02/2018 14:39

Yes it’s my bhCG that’s a bit high.

Sorry I've been a bit out of touch. I'm having to work nights this week and it's kind of killing me off.

Sorry to hear that some of you are under so much stress with work, test results etc.

Saw a message or two about joining the fb group, not sure if those people have been added but it you pm me your fb email addresses then I will happily add you to the group (request is likely to come through to your email address rather than showing up straight on your fb we've found with people so far). X

SpriteGirl · 05/02/2018 15:33

Harmony test booked for tonight.

milney25 · 05/02/2018 15:58

@sprite, so glad you were able to get an appointment quickly. It looks from your results that just the PAPP was OK, so just the HCG too high? I did read there can be reasons for that when I was researching (furiously googling).

SpriteGirl · 05/02/2018 16:36

Yes @milney25 HCG too high. You mean reasons other than Down’s syndrome? Have had reassurance from people telling me they came up high risk but babies were fine.

milney25 · 05/02/2018 16:48

@spritegirl yes, I had high HCG (a little lower than yours) but my midwife told me it could be for a variety of reasons, with me she thinks my progesterone supplements. So I am sure there could be explanations for yours too.

Kiki275 · 05/02/2018 17:34

@Emmasmum2013 You sound like you need a nice hot bath and an early night. Leave DH in charge of DD and concentrate on yourself for one evening. It'll do wonders for the forthcoming week and you'll be much better placed to give both of them their required attentions. Don't worry about sexy time either - he's a grown man, he can sort himself out...mine does Wink x

@misshannah you should work for our place. Pretty much every role advertised is at a higher rate than the experienced staff (who then get to train the new staff). Our MD has also publicly said "if you don't like it here, I am certain you can all get a job elsewhere". I had to fight for a £200 pay rise... pennies to them. x

Babydreaming · 05/02/2018 18:05

@spydie my Papp a was 0.42 so it’s only borderline low. I wouldn’t be eligible for extra scans at that level but I have them anyway because my 1st baby had problems!

It’s a relatively new concept that they’ve discovered and didn’t used to know the significance of PAPPa so our parents would have never had these worries!

I’m also very petite and I think my body just isn’t meant to make big babies so my placenta is probably smaller than average! That’s what I’m trying to reassure myself anyhow.

StrawberryLemonade · 05/02/2018 19:49

emmasmum Sorry you’re feeling low. Be kind to yourself - you’re growing a person and it’s bloody hard work. You need rest and looking after!

Sorry some more people are worrying about screening results. It all sounds very complicated. I didn’t get told the results of mine specifically so can’t compare just got told the overall risk. I hope you can all get reassurance soon.

It’s so cold here tonight I’m freezing. Want to snuggle on the sofa under my blanket once DD is asleep.

somersetsinger · 05/02/2018 21:17

Spritegirl, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through such a worrying time. I hope the Harmony test will bring you some answers and that you don't have long to wait. I'm not complaining for a second about living in a time when we have access to screening, but its very existence necessarily brings stress and worry.

Emmasmum, it sounds like righteous work anger to me. I've had a much shorter fuse than usual at work and home and I don't like it all. Where has my bloody zen-like calm gone? I think we all need a bit of warm Spring sunshine. Begone, Winter, with your lurgy and lack of vitamin D!

peterpanwendy · 05/02/2018 21:42

@Gem173 no calling in sick for me, 2/5 of my team were off today and my partner has been off for over 2 weeks so I've been doing double the work, and what with 54 kids in tow I really just have to suck it up, I want to be as reliable as can be so when I come back off maternity they give me a good class 😂

Congrats @bobcat85 glad all is ok :)

@Emmasmum2013 it could have been me writing your post! I really sympathise with you, I had the tickly cough all last week and barely slept all while suffering awful ms. It's horrible but does get better :( I found the honey helped! Also the same regarding DTD, our poor DH/DP's I feel awful too :( virtual hugs, I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow x x

Welcome @Sjc1989!

@SpriteGirl sorry to hear about your worries, how did the harmony test go? Are the results speedy? Take care x

SpriteGirl · 05/02/2018 21:57

Thank you to all of you who have lent your support today.

The consultant was quite an eccentric guy in a bow tie and very reassuring. He said my results from the NHS screening suggest it’s very likely the baby is fine. Results in 8 days he said.

It was 9pm by the time we got home and I asked my husband if we could have a drive through - there was food I’d planned to heat up but I just couldn’t face it. So for the first time in we’ll over a decade tonight I have had a McDonald’s. That’s was stress and pregnancy does for you !
