Thought I'd start up a new thread as the old one has run out of space.

Not really sure tbh! They say it can stop you from feeling movements early on! But as I’m first time mum I have no idea what the movements feel like yet as they haven’t happened long enough ! Wish they’d happen soon! Would love to feel it!

BlueMooMoo · 22/03/2018 17:12

Me too @Gem173

I have a normal lying placenta, but as a first time mother I'm not really sure what I'm meant to be 'feeling.' Sometimes I think it might be movement but then others I'm like it's probably just gas ! :)

BertieBotts · 22/03/2018 19:27

I feel the most movement when I'm sitting all scrunched up in a ball with my legs up. I find that comfortable so I sit like this a lot but if you're more normal than me and sit normally you might have a harder time noticing it? It feels distinct from wind now, more like someone flicking plus some swishing to go along with it. When it was earlier and I wasn't sure, I was pretty sure I could distinguish the pattern because wind tended to be like bubbles moving in a consistent direction whereas kicks would go back and forth or be random but in the same spot. And following the windy bubbles was often a little fart Blush

I'm having a cup of tea right now and feeling lots but I don't normally drink warm drinks in the evening so that might be why too. They say a hot or cold drink can wake them up!

birdy1978 · 22/03/2018 19:34

Sadly not great news at my scan. Twin 2 measuring half the size of twin one and has potential kidney problems. Prognosis not looking good. Finding out the sex seemed pretty unimportant today. Waiting for a fetal medicine appointment next week to find out more.

BertieBotts · 22/03/2018 19:49

Oh :( I'm sorry birdy. Have they said anything about what it could be? Is the other twin healthy?

SpriteGirl · 22/03/2018 20:21

Oh birdy sorry to hear your sad news. All here to hand hold 💐

birdy1978 · 22/03/2018 20:26

Thanks for your support. Twin 1 seems fine, but obviously is also now at risk should I miscarry twin 2. I’ll probably be offered an amnio to determine the cause. I was so hoping for a nice straightforward pregnancy again!

Gem173 · 22/03/2018 20:28

Birdy that’s sad news :( I hope baby 2 recovers and grows just as big as baby 1. Sending you love and hugs and positive thoughts xx

BlueMooMoo · 22/03/2018 20:32

So sorry to hear that @birdy1978
Fingers crossed for you

somersetsinger · 22/03/2018 21:43

I'm really sorry to read that, birdy. I hope you get some answers as soon as possible. It must be very upsetting to get worrying news at this stage.

Strawberry, I had a low lying placenta and an extra scan last time. The 32 week scan showed placenta had moved higher up as the womb grew, so there was room for the baby to get out the conventional exit. If not, I would have had a planned c-section. I felt quite calm about either as it seemed like a straightforward and logical decision.

peterpanwendy · 22/03/2018 22:46

Oh @birdy1978 how difficult for you. Here to hand hold Thanks hopefully you get some answers soon x

StrawberryLemonade · 23/03/2018 00:36

birdy I’m so sorry to hear that it sounds so worrying for you. I hope the appointment comes really soon so you can find out exactly what’s going on Flowers

Stephiewoo · 23/03/2018 07:33

@birdy1978 Really sorry to hear the news Hun, sending positive outcomes for both twins and yourself.xx

milney25 · 23/03/2018 16:45

Now, I didn't feel confident enough in FB's privacy to ask this on there.

I'm getting really low movements, I have anterior placenta. But I've just been getting the sensation of a punch, or a bubble bursting really low down, like near my cervix maybe?? Is this normal??

milney25 · 23/03/2018 16:54

Oh Birdy, I'm really sorry to read the news following your 20 week scan. I'm on the desktop version and I didn't see your post before I posted mine. Keeping everything crossed for good news about your twins xx

birdy1978 · 23/03/2018 17:17

Thanks everyone for your kind words. It seems easier to share on here than in real life. I’ve now had my fetal medicine appointment through for Tuesday so i’m Just going to keep looking after myself and try to stay positive in the meantime.

peterpanwendy · 23/03/2018 17:44

@milney25 I'm really not sure but could you text your midwife? X

bobcat85 · 23/03/2018 18:45

Sorry to hear that @birdy1978, hope you're ok.xx

Beanmama18 · 23/03/2018 22:19

Thinking of you @birdy hope you get some better news on Tuesday.

I've just got booked in for my whooping cough vaccine (bit late) anyone have any side effects or was it ok?

mum21andabump · 24/03/2018 00:35

hey due august 5th. myself and partner very happy and have told family and close friends, however im at uni and i havent told anyone there yet or close aquantances, my partner wants to share on facebook, and also friends that do know keep asking when ill announce it, i dont know why i feel like im keeping it to ourselfs i think im scared but not sure why, anyone else not told everyone yet?? i ve had 5 month scan and all is well, perhaps because i was told because of thyroid problems i was high risk.

peterpanwendy · 24/03/2018 02:25

@mum21andabump hi and welcome! Congrats on your pregnancy :) I haven't announced it on any social media and don't plan to until Baby is born. I've just personally told all my family and friends and anyone else who I haven't I don't feel need to know. It's a very special and emotional time I'd rather be in control of who knows and don't think old school friends on Facebook need to know at all! :) that's just my opinion about my pregnancy but I can totally see where you are coming from :)

Are you and your partner excited? Do you know whether you're having a girl or a boy? X

BertieBotts · 24/03/2018 09:46

Hi 21andbump, is it your age that's making you anxious? I was only 19 with my first but I did announce on fb, after telling anyone who was important first obv. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive! I think people find the public aspect puts them off being judgemental which I was obviously grateful for. I made sure to put with the scan photo that we were surprised but very happy and that set the tone too. I had more shock/uncertainty from those I told privately.

Congratulations on your pregnancy:)

MamOfFrankie · 24/03/2018 17:02

Finally found put today, after 20 minutes of having thighs pressed together and ankles crossed, 10 minutes of walking round and round, and another 10 minutes of prodding and shuffling, we finally found out she's a girl x

@MamOfFrankie congratulations! And she clearly has got a mind of her own already 😉

@mum21andabump welcome and congratulations. I am high risk due to fibroids (so I don’t know anything about how your thyroid problems will affect your pregnancy) but being high risk doesn’t automatically mean you’ll have problems or a difficult time.

I never had any plans to make an ‘announcement’ on Facebook but it’s no longer a secret and I’ve mentioned it on Facebook in conversation with other people. Anyhow your baby, your body, your news tell people when and how you want 😊
