Thought I'd start up a new thread as the old one has run out of space.

@Gem173 oh dear, hope you feel better soon :(
I'm the same with work, I dare call in sick cos we're so short of staff anyway! X

YouCantBeSirius · 20/02/2018 19:32

I've just started feeling very definitive kicks. I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow and was starting to worry that I hadn't felt anything yet.

39Suzy · 20/02/2018 19:41

My 12w scan image is here.... any guesses on gender? My scan is a week on Saturday. Cannot. Wait.

bear1991 · 20/02/2018 19:49

@YouCantBeSirius oh that’s so exciting! I’m hoping I’ll start feeling Peanut properly soon, it will make it so real.

My 20 week scan isn’t until 27th March (day before my birthday!) which feels like ages away. Can’t wait to find out if it’s a boy or a girl!

milney25 · 20/02/2018 19:51

What do you look out for with the movement?? Is it like one kick or is it like a few at a time?

Stephiewoo · 20/02/2018 19:57

2nd trimester sickness all the time for me then!😳🙄😭🤮🤢😔

bear1991 · 20/02/2018 20:01

@milney25 mine just feels a bit like bubbles popping! I know that sounds weird but I can’t think of another way to describe it

milney25 · 20/02/2018 20:08

I'll try lying really still! Mind you, I think today's ligament pain might mask any movement!

BertieBotts · 20/02/2018 20:32

I was listening with the doppler tonight and we could hear some swishing, pulling the umbilical cord in and out of reach of the microphone and then a definite kick! DS heard it too because our doppler has got two earphone sockets :)

The movement I'm feeling is a bit like wind but different. I get wind too but that's more bubbly and moves around whereas the baby movements are confined to one place and are a bit more random. It's very faint and I normally only feel it when I'm sat scrunched up with my legs on the chair. Occasionally when lying down but not really. I can only feel it in one spot which is probably because I have an anterior placenta covering most of the right side. DH reckons the baby will probably hide behind the placenta when they want to be undisturbed!

milney25 · 20/02/2018 20:58

@BertieBotts that sounds lovely! Going to have to try the scrunched up legs thing.

It's so hard going between scans isn't it, I'm wondering how we get back after the 20 week without a scan to show us our little ones?! I have my first midwife appt on Friday, I'm hoping s/he listens for the heartbeat.

Gem173 · 21/02/2018 06:39

Thanks @peterpanwendy hope your feeling abit better, I feel slightly worse today but ah well got to get on with it!
Only 13 weeks today, it’s mad to think some of us are reaching 20 weeks so soon!
Goodluck to those with scans xx

BertieBotts · 21/02/2018 08:25

After 20 weeks you should be feeling movement, so you have that daily reassurance, plus your appointments get closer together towards the end of pregnancy.

milney25 · 21/02/2018 08:47

Has anyone been for their 16 week midwife yet? Mines Friday, it's a bit late as I'm 17 today. The letter said it would take two hours!! And it would be an opportunity for me to meet other mums in the area. I though it was a quick wee test, blood pressure and weight check.

somersetsinger · 21/02/2018 08:51

My 16 week midwife appointment is on Friday too. I'm expecting a quick in and out, with hopefully the chance to hear a heartbeat on a Doppler.

The midwives made the appointment before my 12 week scan and they wanted me to be at least 16 weeks, so made it a bit late in case the scan put my dates back.

BertieBotts · 21/02/2018 09:30

Wow milney! Perhaps they are doing some kind of group appointment system? Mine is nothing like that. My next one is on 8th March.

milney25 · 21/02/2018 09:43

I know, that's like a whole morning off work. I'll report back on Friday. I hope it's not a mass weigh in Confused

YouCantBeSirius · 21/02/2018 11:22

At my 16 week appointment they said it would take around an hour since I was meeting my consultant. Took slightly longer due to extra blood tests. I don't see a midwife now until April which seems like ages.

Gem173 · 21/02/2018 14:27

My next midwife appt is 14th March :) (16 week appt) xx

StrawberryLemonade · 21/02/2018 18:43

I have my 16 week midwife appointment on Friday too. Seeing consultant tomorrow as well so a busy week! Hope everyone is ok.

bear1991 · 21/02/2018 19:04

My 16 week appointment is 3rd March so not long. Hope you ladies are all well today!

BlueMooMoo · 21/02/2018 19:17

Hope all those suffering with sickness are getting the help and support from your doctors. I really recommend the hyperemesis support thread for loads of helpful information and links, but also as a place to commiserate with others in a similar position. I've started to turn a corner since about 15 weeks, but still get at least one or two bad days every week.
Anyone else feel like they can't wait for it to be over already!?!

YouCantBeSirius · 21/02/2018 19:22

@BlueMooMoo yep I can't wait for it to be over. I've not even had that bad a time of it really. Was quite sick for a while but I've been fine for a few weeks now. Certain smells set me off retching though.

BlueMooMoo · 21/02/2018 19:28

@YouCantBeSirius I know, I definitely feel lucky compared to some others who honestly deserve a medal. Yes, I still can't open the fridge or do any cooking at all. I've been eating bland pasta ready meals for about 3 weeks now, although very grateful that I can stomach food at least.
I know it will all be worth it in the end, so just setting little milestones. Next stop, 20 weeks. :)

bear1991 · 21/02/2018 19:48

I’m ok with most foods, weirdly cleaning my teeth makes me retch in the morning though. Can’t be around when my husband is cleaning the bin! 🤢

Hannahcarp27 · 21/02/2018 19:53

Finally had my 12 week Scan. Dates have moved so EDD 30th August now. I expect I will actually be having a September baby as first DD was 10 days late. Can't believe how clear the scan is. Can see the little hand waving
