Thought I'd start up a new thread as the old one has run out of space.

I am also going to guess girl xx

CaffeineDragon · 18/02/2018 10:29

I can't see a nub in any of mine! I'm going to do all the silly tests this time as it's probably our last one. Off to do the ring on a necklace now!

dancingunicorns123 · 18/02/2018 10:41

@Stephiewoo thank you!!

BertieBotts · 18/02/2018 10:43

Ring on a string was wrong for DS! And my mum did it and she does dowsing properly, takes it really seriously etc.

She reckoned it's because he's a gentle soul in touch with his feminine side Grin

Gem173 · 18/02/2018 11:05

I’m not very good at it, but I think mines a boy because the nub looks raised however my uterus is tilting it upwards so not sure if it’s actually parallel to the spine but just tilted up. Any guesses?

Congrats on the baby boy @RAinbowsandunicorns123 xxx

milney25 · 18/02/2018 12:48

@RainbowsAndUnicorns23 how lovely! So exciting that people are starting to find out!

I would guess on the nub, but I'm totally useless at it!

BlueMooMoo · 18/02/2018 17:54

Hello Ladies.
Is it OK if I join?
First child, 16w +1, due first week of August.
Lovely to see all the scan pictures, and how exciting some of you know the gender already.
We're waiting for the 20week NHS scan to find out.

CaffeineDragon · 18/02/2018 18:23

@BertieBotts haha! I got boy with ring and girl with the chinese calendar. Broke out in a cold sweat!

Gizzymum · 18/02/2018 18:58

@Gem173 I'd guess girl.

dancingunicorns123 · 18/02/2018 19:11

@Gizzymum what do you think mine is?

Gem173 · 18/02/2018 19:24

@Gizzymum aw that would be nice :) I’d like a girl but if I have a boy I would be just as happy x

Gem173 · 18/02/2018 19:29

@dancingUnicorns yours looks like a girl judging on the skull theory

milney25 · 18/02/2018 19:52

Welcome @BlueMooMoo ! I'm waiting for 20 weeks to find out too. Have you got a scan date yet? Mines 16th March

BlueMooMoo · 18/02/2018 19:56

@milney25 20th March. Our scan photos aren't very clear so no guessing 'nub theory' unfortunately. Not sure I can really make anything out at all to be honest except head plus body plus limbs :)

peterpanwendy · 18/02/2018 20:00

All the myths are pointing boy for me! I'd love a girl but my and OH families are mostly girls so a boy would be amazing. I just can't wait!

Been feeling lots of niggles and a few aches and pains today. Been trying to take it easy but it's just my luck after a week off work when I'm about to go back tomorrow! I am putting it down to round ligament pain. Felt so sick today but wasn't actually throwing up which is a huge deal for me so feeling really happy about that!

Gizzymum · 18/02/2018 20:28

@dancingunicorns123 I'd guess a girl too

milney25 · 18/02/2018 20:32

@BlueMooMoo I haven't got a clue what I'm looking for tbh!

@peterpanwendy fingers crossed that things are starting to ease for you.

Lucylou86 · 18/02/2018 20:49

I hope everyone is well!
I can finally join the scan club! Had our due date moved forward by 2 days, so now due 22nd August.
I was so anxious this morning, pleased to say everything is looking ok so far!

Would love to now join the Facebook group, who do I need to contact?

Hi All,

Sorry, I've not logged in for a while. Great to see all the lovely scan photos and i hope you are all well.

I've a niggling question for you all and hope you might be able to help. I've now informed work/ family/ friends as im now 13weeks. YAY!

Work knew a few weeks ago, but as I've formally announced (mainly because i can't fit in to anything) it they now are asking me when i wish to start maternity leave and are asking me to start writing up handover notes, etc. I've very unsupportive manager who generally makes you feel pretty crap about life. I have 7 weeks holiday i would like to use up before i go on Maternity, so i know exactly when i want to go on leave from (as i've a cheeky holiday booked) - HOWEVER there is a part of me that doesn't want to tell them just yet, as i don't have to legally.

I don't mind giving them a rough idea, but i don't want to confirm anything just yet. Am i wrong to do this? I wouldn't want to confirm anything until 15 weeks before due date as per government guidelines.

I work in HE and am yet to discuss with HR, but I have my usual catch-up with said manager tomorrow and i know what is coming. I might be able to get away with 'i'm talking to HR next week to get an understanding' for another week, but where do i stand? Do i have to tell them now if I've announced?

I don't want to tell them as she was so unsupportive and has been terribly rude over the last few months about my diagnosis with M.E., my need to change work hours in line with university policy to do with M.E. and various other things including not being married!

I should add, i am a manger myself and i would hope i have never made a since team member or member of staff feel the way she has made me feel. My team want nothing to do with her and i try to protect them as much as possible as she's an old fashioned twonk. I wouldn't normally feel the need to be so awkward, but to be honest i really want to be now i can get away with it a little. I'm not expecting her to be here on my return as she is due to retire.

WWYD? Let them know now or not confirm actual dates at all until 15 wks prior?

I should also add, I've already started handover notes and made sure my team are copied into relevant and appropriate emails. I've been doing that for months already as in prep.

BertieBotts · 19/02/2018 11:14

Just had lovely very wriggly very detailed scan! Over the moon as everything looked perfectly on track and we got lots of baby watching in :) apparently I have an anterior placenta which is slightly disappointing but not in any way a big deal. Yay!

BertieBotts · 19/02/2018 11:15

Oh and they said maybe a boy, but too early to call for sure because sometimes girls still have an outward pointing nub at this stage too so we still don't know!

Frescoed · 19/02/2018 11:35

Hello, hello, just catching up again! Some lovely scan pics, hi to Lucylou and any other newbies. Hope everyone who's been feeling sick is beginning to see the back of it now.

We had some good news on Friday, the results of the blood dna test gave us low risk for the main chromosonal abnormalities. We will still have a more detailed 20 week scan and echocardiagram, but at least it's a bit more clarity.

misshannah sorry to hear about your crap manager, she sounds rather pushy about things. I think the rules are clear on 15 weeks prior being the point at which you're obliged to inform your employer about your pregnancy, and confirm likely maternity leave start date (if baby comes early, maternity leave does just start when they come!). I guess if I were you I would want a chat with HR first, given that your manager seems unhelpful. The grey-er area is probably booking your annual leave - it might be advisable to consider agreeing that prior to the 15 week mark, in case someone tries to refuse you using it as a block because you haven't given enough notice. It's your right to have it and use it, but the process for agreeing when you can use it is a bit more open to interpretation I think.

misshannah · 19/02/2018 11:41

Thanks @Frescoed i think you're right about annual leave - if i can't use it they have to pay me for it so it'll be up to them. I'll chat to HR next week and see what they say. They're aware of all the problems with manager but as she says the right things (but implies otherwise) they're unable to do much about her.
