Thought I'd start up a new thread as the old one has run out of space.

We bought our first baby thing today :) I had the idea now we've had a good 12 week scan to go and buy just one thing which is totally theirs. Nothing important or useful, just cute and frivolous. DH chose in the end because neither DS or I loved anything in the shop (except a gorgeous Steiff elephant but it was €32!) - he fell in love with this blue plush star which plays "Somewhere over the rainbow" when you pull a string! I keep hearing him randomly set it off Grin

Kiki275 · 10/02/2018 21:04

I feel bubbles.... it's definitely gas Grin x

Kiki275 · 10/02/2018 21:07

Is anyone thinking of going to the Baby & Toddler show? Manchester one is 16-18 March.... I went to the similar wedding show and was really disappointed. Is it worth going? I'll not lie, if I go, it'll purely be for the freebies and doubt I will actually buy much x

YouCantBeSirius · 10/02/2018 22:05

I'm 15+3 and not feeling movement yet. Hopefully I will in the next week or so. I've already bought a few things @BertieBotts nothing exciting though, just some vests and sleepsuits that I couldn't resist.

StrawberryLemonade · 11/02/2018 02:10

I’m sure I have fluttery movement sometimes too. It started about 16w last time and apparently can be earlier in subsequent pregnancies.
I bought a sleep suit for this baby over a year ago before we were even trying! Prob won’t buy much more until after 20w scan but I am getting a pack of nappies each time I go shopping! Always found the aldi ones great last time so stocking up on those and only 99p for a pack of size 1!

milney25 · 11/02/2018 08:49

I'm pretty sure that my flutters could also be wind 🙈. I'm 15+4 so maybe I'll get more fluttery feelings in the next couple of weeks.

We bought a baby monitor yesterday, my DH wanted to get it as it was on a good sale. I've made him hide it away though.

@Kiki275 I work in events and so try and avoid big trade shows at my weekends. I'm sure it could be fun to have a potter around and get some idea/gather freebies! I think if my mum could get me to a baby event, she'd drag me around one every other week!

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 11/02/2018 09:19

I’m 12+2 and I’m sure last night I felt some popping sensations. Also this morning I really needed a wee and while lying there I felt a rolling sensation and then my bladder really hurt, only for a second, but I think maybe baby pushed against my full bladder.

If this was my first I probably wouldn’t have recognised the signs though. DH even looked at me like this Hmm when I told him this morning Grin

butterfly86 · 11/02/2018 11:12

Those of you who are on meds for sickness have you tried to come off them yet? I'm still being sick every morning but managing to keep food down throughout the day if I take the tablets regularly, I tend to feel nauseous when I'm due another dose. I'd like to try and come off them if I can so haven't taken any this morning, I feel nauseous but if it stays like this I might manage its just if the non stop vomiting starts again. This may be a bad idea...

BertieBotts · 11/02/2018 11:38

I went to the baby show when I was pregnant with DS and had a great time. It was useful for buggy tryouts - better than stores IME - and they tended to have reps from each company there who can advise better. If you're in the buggy/car seat research phase it would be quite useful, and if you already know what you want in any category you can sometimes get discounts. Lots of rubbish you don't need which you will def be tempted to buy though! I thought it was worth it and I did get a few freebies - a baby signing book was the most notable, I can't remember anything else, maybe a sample of some kind of lotion. There weren't masses of free things. It was more the experience of being in a kind of exploded gigantic Mothercare with more experts there keen to explain the particular best parts of their own products. Might be more confusing than helpful, though, if you're the kind of person who gets overloaded with too much info but I loved it. Take a notepad or just lots of notes/pictures/video on your phone to look at later.

BertieBotts · 11/02/2018 11:54

I have actually gone so far as to find one near here which is in April! I am trying to persuade DH to go Grin he thinks it doesn't sound very fun. He's a lot more introverted than me.

Gizzymum · 11/02/2018 14:12

@Kiki275 I'm considering going now you mention it. I need a double buggy and it might be a good place to try loads out.... only thing that puts me off it is the Event City queue so may see if DH is happy for me to go pram shopping without him on the Friday (weekend traffic at the Trafford Centre is 🤯)

peterpanwendy · 11/02/2018 17:50

@butterfly86 I am off my tabs now, I felt like I was getting worse and they weren't working anyway so just stopped. I'm still suffering bad with ms (all day!) but only throwing up first thing in the morning and I can keep food down (occasionally breakfast comes back but not regularly) so I'm just trying to power through which is really hard at times but I find sleep helps so I just have really early nights!

butterfly86 · 11/02/2018 18:09

@peterpanwendy how many weeks are you now? It was a mistake for me trying to stop them today I've felt I'll all day and just thrown up absolutely everything I've managed to eat. I've just taken the tablets I'm going to have to continue for the time being.

Beanmama18 · 11/02/2018 20:34

Scan day tomorrow! Not sure if I'm more nervous or excited :/

SVRT19674 · 11/02/2018 21:10

I had my scan last Thursday and we came out with flying colours. I can't even spell the word sickness, don't know what it is. Thirty percent of women don't suffer symptoms. Only that my breasts a super tender, nothing else. My doctor says enjoy feeling healthy, a member of the lucky few club. Smile

39Suzy · 11/02/2018 21:15

Hi ladies, do you mind if i join you?
I am 13w 5d and due 14th August.
Age 39 and on first baby conceived 7 weeks after a CP. Had my scan two weeks ago and all my test results are low risk so we have gone public 😊
Sickness is definitely getting better but still wiped out.... rollon second trimester energy!

Gizzymum · 11/02/2018 22:04

Welcome @39Suzy. 👋🏻

Sugarskulllover · 12/02/2018 04:04

Been awake on and off since 02:30.
Having the worst pains! I think it might be trapped wind but it's making it really hard to sleep. Nothing worse for a Monday Sad

Gem173 · 12/02/2018 06:34

I’ve had trapped wind all night too :( only it makes going to the toilet hard too as it makes my muscles feel tight. Been in and out of bed going to the loo all night. Started rubbing my belly to get the wind out. Little gesture but does work! Still not feeling too great but hey ho work today! Xx good luck on your scan @Beanmama18

E2017 · 12/02/2018 06:52

Doctors for me this morning. Been so ill all weekend. Need them to try to get the sickness under control. I'm still losing weight as well. 14 weeks yesterday. Anti sickness meds are apparently not working. I'm wondering if I've got another uti as well just to top it all off. Husband has made me promise that if gps don't have any spots available today then I'll go to EPU as it's questionable how much of anything I'm holding down now. I've lost another 1.5kg since my 12 week scan. Added to the 8kg I had already lost so far through pregnancy it's getting me really worried. :(

peterpanwendy · 12/02/2018 07:14

@butterfly86 12 tomorrow and still feeling the ms bad? If anything it was getting worse while taking the tablets, I've not noticed much difference since stopping them as I had constant nausea and the vomiting was becoming more frequent even while taking them! Your body will know when you can stop taking them, how many weeks are you? I hope it doesn't last much longer for you :(

@E2017 easier said than done but don't worry! I was told weight loss in early pregnancy is normal. I definitely agree with your DH you need to be seen :( hugs x

peterpanwendy · 12/02/2018 07:14

Sorry no ? At the start there meant to be .

Emmasmum2013 · 12/02/2018 07:40

Good luck @E2017.
I’m going back to work today. Still don’t feel any better but hoping that the distraction of work will offer some relief. Still taking the tablets and having a lots of sickness and nausea though.

13 weeks tomorrow and scan day!!! I’m so excited.

butterfly86 · 12/02/2018 07:46

@E2017 sorry you're still feeling so ill, what medication do they have you on? Easier said than done but try not to worry about the weight loss they told me the baby would be still get what it needs. Have you been admitted before for fluids and intravenous anti sickness? The midwife said when she sent me in that it sometimes breaks the vomiting cycle enough for you to manage something plain, which it did for me I felt great for 24 hours afterwards! Hope they can get you sorted.

@peterpanwendy I'm 12+5 I'm going to keep up with the tablets for now I felt so poorly yesterday and still don't feel great this morning.

CumbrianExile · 12/02/2018 08:29

e2017 hope you manage to get an appointment today. Thinking of you all who are still suffering with ms.

Good luck those with scans today too x
