I hope this works! Here is a new thread as the old one was getting v long.
I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CazzaH · 15/05/2007 14:20

That does make me feel better - i thought i was bineg ridiculous! My boyfriend was all set to march down there and give her a piece of his mind!
Due - if you can believe it - on Christmas day - super!
Feeling a bit yuk - am basically neaseaous all day. Am eating constantly in attempt to stop it!
Feel better already for writing a message on this forum.

Beanstermummy · 15/05/2007 14:20

CazzaH - your Dr is poo.

We were a bit like you with my DD (2 next week) as we were actually in the process of moving house around the time I needed my first scan but the Doc gave me the local MW phone numbers and we sorted out that I would have all my care up in Lancaster - I didn't know re the hostpital or anything but the midwives are the ones to speak to. Even this time the Dr is being pants (got a locum who didn't even know when I would get a scan in Stirling - moved again last year!!) I would suggest getting an appointment to see the Health visitor at your practice as they will know the local MW's and the hospitals etc. If the Doctors won't give you an appointment to see the HV check on the internet for your local NHS trust and there will be a number for the Midwives team and one for Head of Midwifery. Call them and explain you need info, support, answers etc etc - I bet they will be great. Also, Mumsnet is a great place to ask questions however silly you may think they are - they're not And welcome to the exciting club of mummy to be

Feeling all very jolly today - possibly coz I've finally secummed to maternity trousers instead of trying to hold together my normal ones with safety poins, hair bobbles, duck tape....... all very comfy

CazzaH · 15/05/2007 14:30

That is so helpful - thank you both!
I guess i kinda thought i'd tell the doc i was pregnant and that would be it - the NHS would take over and i wouldn't have to do a thing (er, except push at the right moment!).
Will call the midwife.
xx

MamaMaiasaura · 15/05/2007 14:34

OK ladies, I think I am off this thread now Had scan and am 6+3 so EDD is Jan 5... we saw heartbeat .. It was also an abdominal scan so must be a pretty strong heart

There were a couple of things altho midwife wasnt too concerned. I will start a thread in pregnancy as want to know if other people have 'been there'.

bambino1 · 15/05/2007 14:42

ooh another christmas day baby! welcome to the thread cazzah.

bambino1 · 15/05/2007 14:45

peanut butter-i've just read your message again and realised that you are immune so ignore my earlier message to you.

Housemum · 15/05/2007 15:39

Niks - up until a year or so ago we had to pay for 12 week nuchal fold scans. When I had DD2 in 2003, the doc said it would be £120 and I'd have to go to the other side of London (60 miles away even though I knew a hospital 15 miles away did them I couldn't pay to go there instead so didn't bother!)

Awen - I think I'll probably be into Jan (just) but am skipping between both threads!

peanutbutter · 15/05/2007 15:57

well done Awen!

Bambino1 - you gave me a fright at first! , yes I've had the immunisation so I i'm okay. Dh rang half an hour ago to say ds had woken from his nap with a temperature and in an upset and irritable mood so he's taking him down to the GPs - so at least we'll know either way today.

cazzah - I longed for something similar when I went to the Dr when first pregnant with ds but got the same kind of short shrift. Thankfully, we all of us on here know how you're feeling so we can share each others' experiences and vent to each other too!

mimicakey · 15/05/2007 16:03

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie!

Due in December and have my first appointment with mw next week. Can anyone tell me what happens? I've been told it'll be about an hour and don't want to drag along hubbie unless there's going to be some scanning action!

bambino1 · 15/05/2007 17:58

No there won't be any scanning action mickey! Sorry to disappoint you but the midwife will just talk to you about blood test they do, how your feeling, due date, hosp/home birth and she may book your scan for you or you may have to do that, depends!

Hope that helps!

Welcome and Congratulations!!!!

bambino1 · 15/05/2007 17:58

Sorry mimi got your name completely wrong!!

mimicakey · 15/05/2007 18:21

Thanks bambino, that does help a lot. And thanks for the welcome!

cazzybabs · 15/05/2007 19:40

Awen - good news about the scan you must be really pleased.

Cazzzzzhhhh your gp sounds like mine when I went being 1sr time pregnant. "Do you want this baby? Midwife will send you an appoitment Bye!" Rest assured (as god forbid you will ever find this out yourself) it is even worse when you have a mc - "oh well, better luck next time".

They just have too many patients to see and not enought time to see them all!

Pecka - has the bleeding stopped now?

Have my midwife appoitment tomorrow being 11+2 (I think). Am scared but still no bleeding which is good! But am avioding friend with new baby till I have seen that heartbeat.

BeachBunni · 15/05/2007 20:28

Great news awen what a way to start the new year.

Hi mimi and cazzah and congratulations

CazzaH - that doc sounds awful. MIne was lovely, telling me how his wife got on when she was preg - and there was me thinking he was gay for years!

Mimi - I don't know how mws work over there. Do they not ask you family historys and the like? I know the sheets I was sent out from the hospital advised taking along the partner so they can give any health probs etc. I also got a sheet to sign for what tests I want and the father has to sign them as well.

I have to chose at my hospital appointment between shared or mw led care. I'm assuming they prefer you to go shared if it's your first. Is that right?

MamaMaiasaura · 15/05/2007 20:36

thanks peanutbutter, beach and cazzy will prob hover round thread to be nosey

xx

Curlygirly · 15/05/2007 20:37

Yay, got my scan date through. It is 7th June and Ill be 11 wks then. My g.p wrote to the hospital asking for an early scan at 8 or 9 wks but they obviously ignored that part of his letter!

One good thing is that my hospital now does the nuchal scan. Last 2 times I had to pay for private scans. That'll save a few quid!

BeachBunni · 15/05/2007 21:03

Same here curly. My gp requested I get an early scan because I've a higher chance of ectopic but I'll be 12 wks when I go. So not early at all and a bit late if there was anything wrong.

cazzybabs · 15/05/2007 21:05

Good Awen - don't want to lost you and JARM yet I mean JARM is bound to be late and you are bound ot be early - so we'll all be on the same postntal threads (hopefully) so you may as well stay here and we are so much more friendlier than the Nov thread/New year (they don't even know wether they are Dec or Jan )

Curlygirly · 15/05/2007 21:08

Haven't heard anything from m/w yet. Can't remember when she should get in touch. I should know as this is my 3rd time!

MamaMaiasaura · 15/05/2007 21:35

cazzt u always make me smile

Loucee · 15/05/2007 22:02

Hi everyone

Welcome Mimi and Cazzy, great to have some new recruits to the thread, looks like it's going to be one busy December with all us lot due then!

Awen - Congratulations on the scan, you're right, must be some beat to be seen on external scan - with DD I had a scan at about 6+3/4 and couldn't see anything until sonographer tried an internal scan.

Sickness has subsided here, hoping it's not a bad sign. Still only wanting junk and stodge and have gone back to loving sweet things.

Had a row with DH tonight, feel very hormonal and sensitive, keep telling myself it's the hormones etc.

Cazzy - we only get a 12wk scan in my area and last time I had to re-use my urine sample bottle from 24 wks onwards as local policy was only to give you one for the midwife appointments.

Hope everyone is well

cazzybabs · 15/05/2007 22:25

There is too many caz nicknames on here! I was here 1st....I have rights or something...

Yes reusing the pots - I remember that! I don't mind reusing my pot (I am trying to be green) but I don't have a pot to start with. Do you think it will be alright to take a sample in a rather large bottle (well large propotioanlly to urine sample) clean but was once used by M and S to package a fruit based beveage.

Awen I don't know wether it was to me you referred as to making you life but in life I do generally make people laugh as some great misfortune befalls me or I put my foot it again with someone! I am forever offending people. Tis not surprising I have no friends....

Oh and dh has said I can have a home birth - horrah!

cazzybabs · 15/05/2007 22:30

Finally getting round to reading more messages

dundeemarmalade - i am glad I am not the only sloven in the housework states. Tis as much as I can do at the weekends to eat, MN and sleep, let along play with the dds, or do housework. My house is terrible...I hate it at the minute and there are horrid old biscuit crumbs under the sofa. I did change the girls beds and clean the downstairs toilet, but the upstairs bathroom - dear lord don;t look! Have decided not to invite anyone round for a long time!

JARM · 15/05/2007 23:01

lol Cazzy - PLEASE dont curse me to being over-due!

I was only 4 days late with Becca, so possibly just make it to the end of November!

TBH - 1 week more pregnant and thus 1 week earlier delivering the better!!!

mimicakey · 16/05/2007 09:39

Morning everyone! Just spoke to mw and she said no need to take dh so long as I know his family history.

Can't believe you have to wait until halfway through to check there's someone in there! My symptoms are all really mild (which is good I suppose) so it would be nice to have some confirmation.

beachbunni, yes, this is my first.
