I hope this works! Here is a new thread as the old one was getting v long.
I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

Hello to everyone old and new
Pecka, those satistics that cazzybabs posted look promising, keep hopeful, though I know it must be hard

I'm glad you've all brought up reusable nappies - apparently i'm "mad" for thinking about it (my dp, his mum and my mum are totally for it though) The people who think I'm mad are the ones who wanted to get baby shifted to the nearest babtsitter and 'get on with their life' (ie down the pub) asap.(They'll be horrified when they find out I'm b/feeding after a few weeks too as I should obviousy be tarted up and swigging blue wkd's by then ) So I'll be quizzing you all for the favourite brands and the ins and outs soon. So if you've any recommendations let me know... (Am a complete novice as used d/p with dd - they weren't widely advertised 8 yrs ago and I didn't realise the ecological damage either tbh)

Have a lovely weekend folks

Lizzer · 04/05/2007 21:56

Yeah mad4girls - you book it, it will be lovely, I plan to do a lot more holidaying with no2 than I did with dd! good luck with fleecing the fella

cazzybabs · 04/05/2007 22:02

While we are on nappies (OK I am about 100 messages behind) we have used them for both dds. We use just terries and a wrap - no pins or anything. They dry overnight even in our cold old house, easy to store and are cheap. They are also fairly easy to use.

This time (should I have this baby in Dec) we are going to need new wraps as after 2 children they are no longer waterproof but they have had a good old innings.

cazzybabs · 04/05/2007 22:03

Ohh and hello babyox and the other person, who is neither fluffy or cuddly, and whose name has escaped me and I can't find her message (sorry - i am so rude).

mad4girls · 04/05/2007 22:06

think i might be pushing my luck a little as he spent £400 on me yesterday, but have to see, i would just pay for it myself, but the rest of holiday has to be paid by july 31st and thats why i need to make sure he can pay £400 by then, i can pay £250 now with money my mum been saving for me (as i clean the house she rents)

hopefully hel forgive me

babyox · 04/05/2007 22:12

Hello cazzybabs!
mad4girl - why not tell DP it's an early 'pushing present'...can't argue with that eh?

Loucee · 04/05/2007 22:50

HI Babyox - sorry missed your introduction, didn't mean to ignore you. How are you getting on?

thelady · 05/05/2007 00:57

Hello the newbies! We started offering evening meals at the hotel today. But no customers - this is a small, conservative town, and it will take a while for anyone to try something 'new', I think.

Time for bed, boing, at 1am!

BeachBunni · 05/05/2007 01:35

Really should be asleep by now.

Book the holiday mad4girls - it's so nice to have something to forward to. Actually heading to Spain for a few days next week myself. Haven't got extra insurance or anything, just armed with my E11C card, so keeping fingers crossed I'll be ok. Will just have to remortgage the house if something happens!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 05/05/2007 09:15

Just rang the ward that was dealing with me this week to say I have had red bleeding over night - "see how you go and we will see you in 3 weeks for your scan"

Thanks very fucking much for your help

PeckaRolloverAgain · 05/05/2007 09:15

sorry, ive just realised i might be a bit of a negative influence of this thread

i hope my posts dont upset anyone, im just a bit FRUSTRATED

cazzybabs · 05/05/2007 09:44

Pecka I suppose their point is there is nothing that can be done. What will be will be! In 3 weeks you will know eiher way - I guess either by then you will start to pass the horrible bits or you will have your scan and see that heartbeat!

It is the not knowing that is the hardest but all of us who have mcs are in that state - until we have seen that heartbeat we spend most days worrying about what is going to happen. Every ache and pain I think god that is it. I think you have to sit it out...for me I would take it as a good sign Ok I have had red bleeding but no clots and my HCG levels seem quite high!

We can moan, stress and worry together. It won't change the fact we may or may not have a baby in December but I haven't anyone else to stress with...I don't even know what my HCG levels are like.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 05/05/2007 09:51

I know your right, but I know from last time becasue yesterdays hcg levels have barely moved its bad news. I would rather know so i can get on with it

anyway sorry for being on a downer and thanks as always for your words of advice

cazzybabs · 05/05/2007 10:05

Oh god be depressed Pecka - maybe we should start our "Due in December - tent of gloom" to rivel the TTC one.

But your HCG levels have gone up - why would they be going up if the fetus had died. The stuff I was reading last night said that the time to double in the later stages of the 1st trimester (which we are in) takes 96 hours and you only re-tested 24 hours later. Why not get your dh to re-test on Tuesday and then you would know. Either it will be around 40 000 or it will be more and you can to some extent stop stressing.

BeachBunni · 05/05/2007 10:31

Sorry Pecka I have the opposite advice and don't check the HCG levels. I know it's really hard not knowing but I think you'd be putting a lot of extra stress on yourself. Can you not request another scan? Tell them that your sonographer was crap and you want another one.

peanutbutter · 05/05/2007 12:54

hello everyone, what a gorgeous day it's turning into here again!

loucee, lizzer, and other others who asked about reusables - I find them very easy to use. I use Motherease One size and Tots Bots along with Motherease Air Flow wraps. The motherease wraps and nappies use poppers so you can get a really good fit. The Tots Bots use a nappy nippa - a stretchy piece of plastic with "grippers" on in a T-bar type fashion, and they're really good fits too.

Go on The Nappy Lady for good advice and look at the Classifieds section there where you can get some really good bargains. I also used Twinkle on the Web, but there's loads of sites. As long as you're a bit organised in terms of having a bucket somewhere handy (ie near the toilet or near the washing machine), it really doesn't have to be a hassle. And it's soooooo lovely seeing all your nappies blowing in the wind on the washing line. Saying that, mine usually dry on the radiators or the airers in the spare room/landing. It's so nice to not be filling up the wheelie bin with stinking disposables too.

There's a nappy section in topics on MN where you can get lots more really good ideas.

peanutbutter · 05/05/2007 12:56

so sorry - hadn't refreshed my screen and the last message was BeachBunni's of 1am this morning. Sorry that you're going through this pecka

mad4girls · 05/05/2007 13:26

hi guys
dp not having any of it about this holiday he doesnt think theres much point booking a holiday, when my mum has already said she will take them abroad next year again, thats great but i want us all to have a our first family holiday, we didnt have one last year as my mum took them and we went away on our own, and she/we cant afford one this year (havent even got a week at haven etc)

we have plenty of time rto save if we book now and time to recover from birth and christmas if its next may but he not having any of it wish he hadnt spent that money on other stuff now would have prefered a holiday to look forward. got a killer headache which cam on bout 10 last night and still there when i woke up and think ill just be depressed and miserable today the kids hate me anyway as said they cant eat all the sweets grandma bought back from holiday, NOT FAIR (stomps off in a huff)

thelady · 06/05/2007 10:32

Why don't you talk to your mum and see if she'd be willing to help you pay for a family holiday, as a special treat, rather than taking off with the children...? Perhaps she could have them for a long weekend in this country instead.

I would hope that once she understood that you really wanted a family holiday, she'd be open to negotiation.

Caz10 · 06/05/2007 10:36

aaaw mad4girls that is rubbish, can't believe dh doesn't want a holiday too. We are both desparate for one just now, but this is going to have to be the summer of saving for a baby rather the summer of going anywhere nice.
I had half thought about booking something for next Oct, bump would hopefully be 10mths-ish and it wouldn't be too hot somewhere like the Canaries...any thoughts? Although to be honest I don't think we can probably afford it.

Pecka how are you doing? Cazzybabs is right, from what I've read the levels don't double everyday but more like every 2-3 days so maybe you just checked too soon? It must be so tempting to be able to check so often, but maybe you should hold off for a scan? I know I got myself into some terrible states reading about m/c when I was 5/6 weeks - I know it is still a possibility but I'm trying not to think about it now.

Having said that I am still doing a pregnancy test once a week!

OP posts:
BeachBunni · 06/05/2007 11:05

Ha Ha Caz10. I only gave up doing the preg tests a couple of weeks ago myself.

I don't know about booking a hol for Oct. I would maybe wait and see. I know some airlines are funny about you flying after 28 wks and you have to have a doctors ok. Maybe wait and get a last minute thing because if you have any complications with your preg the doctor won't give you a letter.

I'm flying to Spain tomorrow and was reading all this stuff to do with radiation levels in the first trimester. Now I wish I hadn't booked it because it just gives me one more thing to worry about.

Caz10 · 06/05/2007 11:28

Eeek what does it say? Is it radiation from the plane?

I actually meant going away Oct 08, hopefully with a little babbie in tow!

Have a lovely time in Spain and don't worry, it will be great! Who are you going with?

OP posts:
BeachBunni · 06/05/2007 11:46

Something to do with radiation levels at high altitudes. I'm that paranoid I've favourited the space weather conditions to monitor photon fluxes (I've no idea what it means either but know it's something to do with radiation due to solar flares)

Just going by myself to get spoilt for a couple of days by the parents (they live there). Dreading it as I HATE flying. I'm one of those people that sits the whole time hyperventilating with white knuckles. Last time I ending up crying .

Usually roll off a plane drugged up to the eyeballs on valium and 90% proof alcohol. Should be fun doing it stone, cold sober

mum2sam · 06/05/2007 12:42
