I'm sure all our LOs are perfect......DS was a complete and utter accident, and I'd been out getting hammered for the first few weeks of his existence due to relationship being over......then after I found out I was pregnant I did a bit of Oh shit drinking before I settled down into the realisation I was gonna be a parent....and he's bright as a button.......I really do sound like an alky don't I???

Think I'll steer clear of a glass tonight though...don't think it'll mix with the co-codamol.

derlor · 26/04/2007 19:59

it's bath thime here but just a quick work of warning Daisy (Derlor puts 'nurse' hat on) co-codamol if taken regularly WILL make you constipated - get some lactulose or senna to take a small dose of daily (takes nurse hat off)
Glad your HV was helpful - sounds a lot more knowledgable than me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 20:01

One step ahead of you there Derlor...I had big problems around middle trimester so have supplies of lactulose on hand

Sitting here feeling fab ......then realised its probably just the drugs ...but will be taking some more before I go to bed and will hopefully get a good nights sleep!

Sure most people over-indulge in first few weeks before they know.I did! Was on holiday the week before found out - beer & nibbles by the pool, wine with every meal & cocktails every evening - not to mention all the 'banned foods' I consumed. If it was all such a problem surely no one would ever have a healthy baby. Decided nothing can do about it now so best not to worry.

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 20:32

sage words tallulah.....I'm just a worrier and now I've stopped work I've got to find something else to fret about...as if possible pre-term labour isn't enough

OP posts:
TALLULAHBELLE · 26/04/2007 20:40

Normal to worry - sometimes think we've been given too much info. Hope you can rest and relax soon. Maybe the painkillers will help.

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 20:43

IKWYM...the first time my mum realised that childbirth would be that painful was when she was in labour......her mum had told her that it hurt, but that she'd get through it like women have done for centuries...she knew nothing about how contractions would build or that she would have a show or anything....adn she didn't have a birthing partner, just the (rather ancient and very grumpy) midwife who kept telling her to get control of herself as she was "letting the side down" with her screaming!!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 26/04/2007 20:47

I was away with work for most of the first 7 weeks of my pregnancy - flying to Scotland and London most weeks - out everynight 'on expenses' leathered on Gin and Slim! But hey ho - too late now to worry about it?
Daisy - keep your feet up and chill, enjoy the drugs! Those pain killers send me totally off my head!!

riabutterflew · 26/04/2007 20:49

Letting the side down? - I thought we had to make lots of noise like they do on the telly! (I also used my 1st labour as an a excuse to say all the things about my MIL that I would now say in general conversation!!!) At least we don't have to do it with the woman from up the road who laid out the dead bodies when she wasn't delivering babies.

I have some lactulose in the cupboard from when I was on my PKs but was too scared to take it!

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 20:53

Its very gentle Ria.....TMI Alert...just loosened things up nicely with me the last time, no sudden evacuations!!

Fuming Foxy! Been telling my two boys to get to sleep for the last 2 hours, and DH has decided to let them get up NOW and watch the rugby with him.

Am so angry I am shaking ...

They are 5 and 4, its a school day, and they should fucking well be asleep

TALLULAHBELLE · 26/04/2007 20:55

When I told my mum I was scared of the pain of labour she said 'surely i didn't raise a wimp'!!!! And she had me by C section under g/a! Needless to say, I changed my mind about asking her to be my birthing partner

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 20:58

Calm down Foxy...not good for the baby....don't know what to suggest though...but do agree they need their beds at that age...my DS is knackered if he doesn't get about 11 hours

TALLULAHBELLE · 26/04/2007 20:59

Foxy. How inconsiderate - where will he be tomorrow when you're dragging 2 grumpy, tired LOs out of bed and organising for school.

foxybrown · 26/04/2007 20:59

grrr
thanks Daisy,

am off to bed, will take my grumps away from this happy thread

nite all

foxybrown · 26/04/2007 21:00

he'll be out tomorrow night with his mate who's staying the weekend.

foxybrown · 26/04/2007 21:01

and I cooked him a lovely dinner, and took it to him with a glass of wine so he could watch the match

riabutterflew · 26/04/2007 21:02

That's so not fair foxy. Men don't seem to think sometimes do they? Hope you sleep well.

TALLULAHBELLE · 26/04/2007 21:02

Try and get good sleep Foxy - at least you'll have patience to deal with it tomorrow if you're rested.

OOOh must go and watch House. With my glass of red and bumper bag of Sensations. Yessss!

riabutterflew · 26/04/2007 21:03

You could take him another glass of wine and accidentally spill it, but if your house is like ours, you'll have to clear up after it so it's not worth it (that is the only reason I don't throw things!)

riabutterflew · 26/04/2007 21:05

I am taking my poorly leg to hopefully soak the pain away in a hot bath. My DH has not lost his job yet and has txtd me to ask if I fancy a takeaway. Sometimes he's not a complete arse.
Of course, he's not actually here yet...
(Might be back in two hours to curse him for working lte again)

hollyandalice · 26/04/2007 21:09

for you foxy! You'll get cross and look like the bad guy! Grrr....have a lovely sleep and hope your los aren't too sleepy in the morning.

Bad mother alert!! I went to make my dd her bottle just now and discovered I'd run out of formula. So I gave her some cow's milk, which she hates, and surprisingly she gave it back to me and told me to make her a nice one! So I took it back in the kitchen and put some honey in it!! I'm like one of those pikey mums that puts tea and sugar or coke in their babies bottles!!

kittykitt · 26/04/2007 21:10

Feelin your anger on the DH front, Foxy.

Just got a phone call to ask to be picked up from the station in half an hour - in the middle of ER!!!
He's been in London all week - hope he's not expecting tea on the table and animated conversation, let alone anything else! Am absolutely shagged today (not literally, of course).

On the alky thing in early pregnancy, I too was out with work drinking vast quantities of GnT the night before i suspected something was amiss and i took my pg test. All my friends have been the same and had perfectly healthy bouncing babes.

hollyandalice · 26/04/2007 21:12

I've had a few beers during this pregnancy and a couple of glasses of wine, not enough to worry about, but I have been eating copious amounts of brie !!

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 21:13

holly....you wicked woman . If it's a one off no-one will condemn you. Did it work????
