Glad to see some more of us in the anti-changing bags camp. I have one of these with fold up changing mat, nappies etc inside, can be moved from bag to bag (or rucksack) depending on trip, and I'll get to use it post nappies too. Also have one of these , not tested it yet

derlor · 26/04/2007 17:13

yeah Sputnik you and i are DEFINATELY on the same wave length.
OOPS sorry Kittykit me and my big mouth maybe this will make up for it....Avent disposable breast pads are great and if you want a changing bag try

Helloooo...not been about much again, As I have been once again hooked up to the CTG at Jimmy's .... Had several buggery, fucky, shitty, "Oh my god that bloody hurt" painful contractions when my HV was here and she made me phone the hospital....but I've been sent home again and told not to overdo things (I only did a bit of tidying and dusting FFS...can't sit on my arse for another 6 weeks!!). It's all settled down again, and the registrars opinion..."ooh, this baby can't decide whether its coming out now..or not". No shit Sherlock. So, basically they think it's just nasty, painful, am I, aren't I type contractions and that I'm probably gonna have to put up with it for the duration......they gave me co-codamol for the pain and the usual...if they get more frequent, nore painful (duh, didn't they just do that??), any show, any scar tenderness etc etc etc.

That and I've not been drinking enough as I have ketones in my wee....

Will catch up on the rest of the thread later....it's been a bra fest today it would seem...I'm gonna go to Bravissiomo for mine as no-one else can either measure properly or fit me properly, but I love Bravissimo....might also get some Bravado ones for the early days until I can get out for a proper measurement as they kind of fit several sizes in one bra...

Oops...here comes another one....off to pace the floor.

derlor · 26/04/2007 17:36

shit Daisy - sit down and drink some water -NOW!!!!
i've just realised it is 17.30 and i've not even thought about the tea. and the good mother award goes to.......clearly NOT me!!i'm off x

hollyandalice · 26/04/2007 17:39

Fucking BHs Daisy! Glad you are ok! I've had some nasty "SHHIIIIIIITTT" ones today as well!

Done kitchen tidying, now going to make dinner! Oh and change dd's stinky bum!!

riabutterflew · 26/04/2007 18:02

sorry you've had a crap day daisy. sending hugs but won't say anything in case I say wrong thing (quite likely).
Am taking the boys to visit grandparents so I don't have to entertain them!
Later x

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 18:28

Why would you say the wrong thing Ria....have you been putting your foot in your gob a lot today??? have I missed something????

god I'm fed up with this.....didn't feel a thing with DS...and these have been pretty bad, my HV thought I was gonna keel over at one point and she said I was going through an alarming range of colours.

not sure how to deal with it.... the hospital have said that because of my previous c-section I should get in sooner rather than later to rule out any problem wiht my old scar...but I don't want to keep bothering them and beoing sent home and feeling slightly foolish....if this goes on for the next six weeks, I'll be getting frequant flier air-miles

where bras are concerned...I think Debenhams/Bravissimo do a fab job with fitting...I was wearing 38C bras and the straps used to fall off my shoulders all the time. Got measured in both of those and turns out I'm actually a 34E....felt like I'd had a boob job, the transformations was unbelievable.

Now wearing 38F due to expanding ribcage, but the cups are getting a bit tight...refusing to buy any more bras till I get my nursing bras though. Mothercare told me at the start of my pg I was 40DD......when in fact Royce 36E was just fine.....

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 18:30

It wasn't too bad Derlor...at least I got to sit and listen to the LOs hearbeat for 30mins....and I had a friend with me today so we talked about handbags and shoes

OP posts:
Daisybump · 26/04/2007 18:31

foxybrown · 26/04/2007 18:40

Hope you are ok Daisy! Sounds a bit worrying. Best get your feet up and be bored for a few weeks than go too early. Obviously its just SO easy to relax with a wee boy running around!

Thanks for the top tip Kitty, am off to Asda on Saturday to get some bibs.

foxybrown · 26/04/2007 18:46

how exciting! Katy44 from the Due in April thread might be in labour.

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 18:52

Oooh...she's been a bit on again off again since yesterday.....off to catch up!!

PS Got co-codamol from the hospital....its great stuff...feel like I'm half-pissed and I have no pain anymore.....yipee....

hollyandalice · 26/04/2007 18:52

I'm so disorganised! Have only just wrapped my secret shower gift! At least everyone is fed and the washing up is done! I wish these bloody BHs would piss off!

Daisy, hope you are resting [stern face] (((hugs)))!

Foxy I shall send you those shorts tomorrow when I go to PO to send shower gift and ebay stuff.

hollyandalice · 26/04/2007 18:53

Dp had that stuff when he broke his ribs daisy! He turned a bit mental on them!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 26/04/2007 19:15

Hiya

Just checkin in and catching up with you all for the first time today.

Daisy - thanks for the bumps on my other thread, I'm glad I've had some additions to it! Sounds like you've had a hell of a day? Fingers and legs crossed for you that everything will settle down a bit.

Sputnik - Good work on the bra finding front! There are a few there I will defo give a go - and I too had given up on the maternity bras as they seemed to offer no support and just seemed to give me a huge nork sausage accross my chest?! But some of the ones you found look a bit more 'normal'

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 19:22

Cheers DKMA...hope you get some info....

Derlor...my HV was lovely...she was here for nearly two hours and was very nice and very helpful. They have a mental health nurse attached to their dept so she is going to refer me for a home visit so I can talk through the whole ante-post natal depression thingy and will make sure I get a good follow up after the birth. She also answered my queries on FAS.....but probably thinks I'm a bit of a nutter...or an alky (damn that buckfast...it's just too tasty)

A very nice lady indeed.

TALLULAHBELLE · 26/04/2007 19:33

Hi Daisy - glad yr getting good care. So how much vino can we have? - she asks, already having opened the bottle of red!

Daisybump · 26/04/2007 19:40

she recommended sticking to the one or two units once or twice a week, but said most helath professionals realise that people take that to mean one or two glasses, once or twice a week. she aslo said that most of the damage is done through drinking heavily in the first trimester, although binge drinking (more than 14 units per week or 7+ in one sitting) after this time can also cause mental health issues.

she did say that as there are varying degrees and because the symptoms can be confused wiht other chromosonal disorders....it's a very difficult condition to diagnose with any certainty.

But, upshot is I should stop finding unneccesary things to stress about as I'm obviously stressed out enough as it is!!

OP posts:
riabutterflew · 26/04/2007 19:50

Bugger. For most of my first trimester I was either on really strong painkilling patches for my sciatica or indulging in a couple of extra units (I didn't find out I was pregnant for a while). Thinking/hoping this baby is probably a survivor... My GP was good though as his wife had been on the same painkillers throughout her 2nd PG so hopefully she was a good case study.

I have a bloody awful pain in my leg where I had the cramp this morning.

riabutterflew · 26/04/2007 19:57

That makes me sound like a bit of a rough case - I'm not, honest!

Our nice HV left our health centre apparently because the work was too mundane as we were all normal. She went to work in one of the roughest suburbs of the next town I think. I suppose that's where the job satisfaction comes in though 'cos you know you're doing your best to make things better? My BF is on placement with a HV at the moment and I think she's really enjoying it (just hope that isn't enough info for her to identify me from IYSWIM)

Oh gawd, will probably have offended every HV and everyone else.. BTW, I haven't been putting my foot in it today at all, I just aren't very good at saying the right thing in "delicate" situations. (On Monday at 8.55am when I took DS1 to school a distant relative came to tell me she has to have a cancer relation operation and I am kind of recovering from having to respond to that without saying something thoughtless).
