Due in June - am I unreasonable to expect the nanny to give birth for me?

Daisy - well spotted.

derlor · 24/04/2007 14:33

look at this its hillarious.... hehehe

sputnik · 24/04/2007 14:40

You could use it to stuff homemade soft toys.
You could use it in kids crafts projects to make hair and beards on faces
You could use it as packing material around delicate objects
You could spin it into thread and then knit original baby clothing (people do that with dog hair you know)
You could put it in a little bowl on your coffee table and use it as a conversation starter (well it worked here didn't it)

Recycling, don't you just love it

Hi Foxy, welcome back, cervix appears to be holding out still

derlor · 24/04/2007 14:42

Sputnik i'm concerned for your failing mental health - you clearly need to get out of the house NOW!!!!!!!!!

Daisybump · 24/04/2007 14:42

how about sewing some little circular bag out of muslin, stuffing with lint and using as breast pads...useful and very topical....

annobal · 24/04/2007 14:42

PMSL Derlor and Daisy (very appropriate time for a double post).

Am also a knitting freak and have just finished a blanket for the baby. I do tend to knit them and get them finished but never use them tho

Off to pick up DS1 from pre-school.

Daisybump · 24/04/2007 14:47

I'm kind of opposite Annobal...I start a project with gusto, then never finish so I have loads of half finished jumpers/blankets/cardis etc lying around. I've done some more to the gorgeous prma blanket i'm knitting for Bubba today though and am determined to get it finished.

I've probably got enough wool lying around (supplemented where necessary with tumble drier fluff) to knit several king-size throws

annobal · 24/04/2007 14:47

PMSL Daisy and Sputnik.

I just totally freaked myself out - I heard some music coming from the play room and went in there and a piano was playing all by itslef.

Right - DS1, am going to be very late...

sputnik · 24/04/2007 14:47

Thanks for the concern

Great idea about the breast pads, but why stop there, you could do sanitary towels too, nappies.....

derlor · 24/04/2007 14:55

Daisy and Sputnik - you two should get together and make all of those things and sell them as 100% recycled/environmentally friendly (just look at the price the bags from last night are selling for) we can ALL send you our fluff to help.

riabutterflew · 24/04/2007 14:59

Oh my what have I done?
Am glad to have thought up an interesting topic for once! (I don't talk to myself nearly as much since I started posting on here...)

And for those who have never been SAHMs before - this is what it's all about when the babies are too big to cuddle all day long.

Actually have just pretended to be intelligient and looked up working time regulations on the net. RESULT. Now all we have to do is make sure DHs boss reads it.

riabutterflew · 24/04/2007 14:59

Welcome back foxy. Hope you had a lovely time.

derlor · 24/04/2007 15:02

right well, it's school collection time then we off straight out to take DS for his skiing lesson then dinner out and home for bath and bed time....
much later chicks xx

justbeme · 24/04/2007 15:08

foxybrown · 24/04/2007 15:09

Just spend 50 mins catching up, and then another 10 spent catching up on the chat in the last 50!

Now have to go and get DS1, havent seen him yet so can't be late.

Had a lovely time, thank you! DP did a great job in my absence. He's out tonight so I can catch up properly.

See you after 7!

Seansgirl · 24/04/2007 15:16

Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh........ just when I thought I'd caught up I go out to gym, lunch and to get some fabric samples and you lot have been nattering all day! Am gonna try and catch up. Then I will be back

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 15:22

Afternoon all!! Just woke up after my nap! I was clearly super tired!

Welcome home foxy, hope your break was relaxing and wonderful.

Glad you are feeling better daisy...hope you enjoyed your Maccy D's!!

Going to sort myself out now before dp gets home and finds the house in chaos and me in my pjs! I'm so for not even being dressed yet!!

BUMPERLICIOUS and anyone else interested in the babybudha slings, I just got this email back from them:

Thanks so much for contacting us about our slings - we would love to offer
you a discount for buying multiples - wo can offer you $95.00 each plus
shipping - since it is being shipped out of the country we do not charge
you tax - though you may be charged once it arrives in your country?

Shipping is approx $12.50 ground and $25.00 per units seperate - I will
have to go into the post with three and four to see if it is less as a
bulk shipment.

I will do this this today and get back to you, in order to receive this
price I would need to send you a PayPal invoice and that could be
individual or together as well.

Thanks and we'll communicate soon.

Tanja

So that's about 10% discount, we could pay for them seperatly by paypal, get them shipped to 1 of us then distribute. Import duty is unknown factor, I've been charged that sometimes, not always. Probably they're more efficient at UK customs

Seansgirl · 24/04/2007 15:45

PMSL at the fluff conversations, think it would make a great thread title, afterall it won't be long before we have to change again at this rate!! Ria, I love you're ramblings you truly are just like Ria on Buterflies

Good news that you are feeling better Daisy, and contractions slowing and not painful, enjoy the rest.

Keep up the resting too Sputnik, its obviously helping things to settle down!

Welcome home Foxy! Hope you had a great time

Holly, only just managed to catch up late last night, really sorry to hear baout your truly crap weekend, I'm just glad the girls were hear to talk to you and support you. I have no experience of looking after anyone elses kids, let alone an exs. I hope that your DP starts to realise how horrible it is for you

Hello to everyone else, lurkers, newbies, infrequent posters etc.....

Should be back later as DH is away in London tonight, am planning pizza with DD later and then sorting out all my bloody bills, budgeting etc....blah blah boring crap that really needs doing. Off now to do DDs ironing (called ironing lady out to do mine & DHs this morning while he wasn't around to complain about it! heehee!) Well, it gives me back ache after 5 mins, thats my excuse

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 15:53

That's better, I am now dressed (to a degree!!) , the washing is put out and the kitchen is tidy(ish)! At least dp won't get home and think that he lives with a lazy cow! He does, but that's beside the point!

Justbeme if you are wanting just some t-shirts or something small from Vertbaudet then you are probably best off using one of their £8 off with free p&p codes. 3346, 3355, 3282 are some of the ones I have. If you are doing a bigger order of £20 or more then a £10 discount code would be better, plus you get free gifts! 1366 & 6261.

Hi seansgirl! Had a pretty shit weekend, but at least I won't have to see the little buggers for a while now!! Hope you are well x

Holly, we need to put our heads together and come up with a strategy for you and those boys I think. Bumper really hit the nail onn the head when she said if DP doesn't want to be a weekend dad he has to stop acting like one. I recommend the plastic dustsheets from homebase - they are going on my bed soon - and are REALLY rustly!!

Daisy - ooo eeer, hope you are holding it together (quite literally) Having a baby is just no way to start your maternity leave!

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 16:27

Foxy I think my strategy will be to ignore them as much as possible! It seems to be the best policy all round! Do you have a 2 year old dd? I can't remember how old yours are. I only ask because I bought my dd some really cute shorts from La Redoute and I accidentally ordered 2 pairs by accident. I can't really send them back because I used a discount code and they didn't cost me anything! Was just wondering if you wanted them.

Daisybump · 24/04/2007 16:32

LOL Foxy...thanks for your support...it's all calming down now, but DH won't let me do anything other than sofa or computer....he's now out sweeping the patio, bless him. He's organised the school run for the next few days for me as well

Just saved £50 on my car insurance....went on confused.com and got some quotes, then phoned my insurance company and said thanks for the renewal notice, but I can save money going elsewhere...so they matched the lowest quote. Feeling very pleased with myself now!!

Oh...there's now a due in Jan 2008 thread !!!!

Daisybump · 24/04/2007 16:33

i was thinking I'd get one for my bed Foxy...in case my waters go at night!!

hollyandalice · 24/04/2007 16:35

Bless your dh daisy! I don't think my dp knows what a brush is for! Sounds like he's looking after you well. Glad you are feeling better.
